you surprisingly came before agent 3, by chance you entered the gutter being the curious teenager you are, and found the "secret." but, cap'n cuttlefish didn't see the "spark" in your eye, however you already new about the plan. therefore, you joined the squidbeak platoon anyways, as a manager.
while napping on the "job", you woke up and cuttlefish told said you had a new recruit and introduced you to agent 3. you two have been together ever since.
PRESENT DAY SPLATOON 3. (after story mode)
you, agent 1, 2, captain 3, and ex cap'n cuttlefish are all in after alterna, video chatting agent 4 and 8, asking them how it's going in inkopolis.
"soooo.. how are you guys doing?" you ask the 2 other agents, curious on what's happening outside of splatsville.
"it's all great here!" agent 8 answers happily. agent 4 chimes in and says how they miss us, but pearl and marina are keeping them busy with silly dance routines and new hobbies.
8 suddenly shows a small grin and asks, "oh, is it alright if we talk to 3, in private?"
"sure, we're all good." you say, in a curious tone. you wonder what's so important that they have to talk without anyone else listening.
as captain 3 walks away with the phone, you, callie, marie, and cuttlefish chat.
"so, you and 3?" marie asks. you feel your body warm up and quickly deny.
"no, of course not. they don't like me that way."
"really? i think they do." callie replies, "don't you see the way they look at you? and they're always so touchy with you. always having their hand on your shoulder or something."
"that's just friendly." you scoffed.
"i don't think so." marie insists, "they only really do that with you."
ex cap'n cuttlefish also adds, "i know love when i see it. you know when i was younger, everyone wa-"
marie cut him off short. "alright gramps, thank you for your input. anyways, you really should just tell them already."
"i'll think about it." you say, knowing damn well you are not confessing, even if there was a e-liter to your head.
after that whole fiasco, 3 asks if you want to go walk around alterna, which you two do daily.
as you two walk around the snowy islands, 3 stops and suggests that you both sit down.
"hey, y/n i got something like, really important to tell you."
"go ahead," you reply, not thinking of anything too serious.
"if i tell you this, you'll still be my friend, right?" 3 asks.
you suddenly sit up and look at them confused. is the topic this serious that you would stop hanging out with them because of it? "i'll always be here for you, no matter what." you respond, now a bit nervous on what exactly 3 has to tell you.
after 3 sighs, they look you straight in your eyes and say,
"i really don't know how to tell you this, but i've liked you romantically for a long time. like, forever."
your eyes widened, and you looked at them like they were a ghost. "are you being for real? like.. for real for real."
their hands became clammy. "yes, why would i ever lie about that?" they had a slight smile on their face.
you didn't know what to say. well, there was only one thing you COULD say that wasn't lying to yourself.
"i like you too."
