An ice rink.
Of course Tsukasa-senpai had conveniently ‘bought ice-skating tickets but was too busy to go’ and as so, gifted them to him and Rui. Rui, instantly delighted by the idea, had dragged them to the local ice rink the moment they got the chance to.
And here they were.
“What the fuck are these?”
Akito asked, as Rui gave him a pair of pink skates, with Hello Kitty designs on them. Seriously? Out of every pair, he chose this one?
….Though they were cute Akito had to admit..
“Ice skates! Fufu, they’re even Hello Kitty ones! How could you skate if you don’t have any skates?”
Akito groaned. “And you couldn’t have chosen a better pair…?”
“Tut tut, how rude, after I generously bought these for you as well, for you to be so ungrateful….”
“Oh shut up…” Though Akito knew there was a wide grin on his face as he put the skates on. Rui put on a matching pair, of course. There was a wide grin on Rui’s face, and he was looking extremely happy.
“Someone looks excited…” Akito remarked, though a gentle smile had entered his face, happy that Rui looked so pleased…
“Mhm! I’ve always wanted to go ice-skating. Doesn't it seem magical? To glide effortlessly on the slippery surface? Though I’ve never really found the chance to…until today! And with the person I love most too...”
Akito had been dragged out to go ice-skating before with Ena. Some photo opportunity or whatever. It’s not that easy. He lost his balance and fell, or smacked into someone, or hit a wall about 20 or so times and couldn’t keep steady on his feet no matter how hard he tried. So it definitely wasn’t effortless , but eh, he’d let Rui think what he wanted.
“Alright then cheeseball, let’s go then. We don’t have all day…”
Rui stepped on the ice gleefully, and held the rinks barrier, slowing skating along. Akito followed suit. They were both just getting used to the rink for now. After a few laps, Rui had let go, and he was skating along so gracefully, Akito could’ve sworn that his boyfriend Rui Kamishiro, was actually an angel. The man stopped, grabbing onto the barrier again to keep his balance and beckoning Akito to come along. Oh fuck. He was way behind. How long had he been staring at Rui? God he was gay-
“Oi, wait up!”
Akito rushed along, but Akito had forgotten one crucial detail - He was on ice. He was going too fast, and he couldn’t stop. He was going to crash! He tried his best to slow down but it was impossible. And right in front of him was…
Rui! Humming along to a tune he probably made, waiting for him, but not paying the slightest attention to what's in front of him. He was going to crash into Rui!
“Rui, WATCH OU-”
But it was too late, as Akito jolted into Rui, knocking him to the ground, Akito tumbling down as well seconds after. “Shit, Rui, are you alright?! I didn’t hurt you, did I?” He looked down at the man, quickly searching for any sign of him being hurt.
“No worries, Akito-kun. I just had a little trip!”
Akito gave a sigh of relief. “Sorry, I couldn’t stop.”
“No worries! And my my, are you planning to kiss me? Our faces are so close together! In public as well, Akito-kun? Fufu, how...scandalous…”
Akito looked at Rui, confused about what he meant before realizing.
Holy fuck. He was ON TOP of Rui, his hands gripping onto his shoulders, their lips only inches away from each other. He was practically resting on Rui’s stomach!
“Fuck off. You wish…” Though Akitos face was a deep red, embarrassed that he had landed on Rui. “Now help me up…please?”
“Aw, don’t you want to stay like this a while longer...maybe you’d give me that kiss while you’re at it?”
“No. You aren’t getting a kiss. Now help me up.
“Tut tut, so rude…can’t even use your manners. Fine, fine, just be careful not to trip on me again, okay? Or maybe do, then I’ll get that kiss.”
“I’ll pass, thanks.”
The man carefully started to climb up, Rui following along. Both of them had soon made their way back to their feet, and Rui gently started gliding again, though they went slowly to let Akito try and catch up with them. Akito immediately started following Rui, trying to not go too fast and crash again. As he got to Rui, however, he stumbled, and fell over…
Or he would have, if it wasn’t for Rui for grabbing his waist and steadying him again. “S-shit...sorry…how are you even doing this so easily?!”
“Fufu, I’m just naturally good at it, I guess! Say,” Rui gently intertwined their hand with Akitos, and even when they were both wearing gloves, Akito could feel Ruis warmth. “Why don’t you take a skate with me?”
Rui pushed off gently, slowly leading Akito along the rink. Akito held on tightly as they got quicker. There was something...so nice about skating with Rui like this, plus, with Rui’s hand, he didn’t feel like he’d fall. Something about them skating together just made Akito feel like he was dreaming, as they went round and round the rink, hand in hand, and maybe, just maybe, Akito was reconsidering that kiss .
“Having fun, dear?”
Rui asked, a gentle, peaceful smile on their face, while they still glided. “Mhm. This is nice.”
“Probably because you aren’t falling flat on your face anymore, fufu~. You really suck at skating, Akito-kun.”
“Oh shut up!” Akito looked at Rui, annoyed. “I bet I could skate by myself! In fact I bet I can skate by myself backwards while dragging you along with me!”
“Really now? Go on, then.”
Oh. Was that a challenge? Akito smirked. This was probably going to go horribly wrong but Akito Shinonome never backs down.
He quickly turned round, putting both of his hands into Rui’s and starting to glide backwards. For a moment, Akito looked into their golden eyes, as they went along with Akito, and Akito could only look at how gorgeous they were.
And the next, he tumbled backwards, Rui being dragged down with him, and falling straight onto him.
“Fufu, told you~”
“Oh fuck off.”
Akito only needed to lean a bit forward to kiss them. And to be honest, he really wanted to. No way he could do it himself though, without Rui mentioning it.
“Rethinking the kissing offer Akito?”
“...So maybe I am! What of it!?”
Rui leant a teensy bit closer, in a teasing manner. “Well you have five seconds until I’ll climb off you, so make a wise decision.”
And Akito leant in immediately.
At that moment, all he could see was Rui , all he could think about was Rui , all he could taste was Rui . Everything was Rui, and Akito couldn’t notice anything else. And he kissed them again. And again. And again. And again. He wasn’t usually the affectionate one, but at that moment, he just wanted to give Rui, his dear boyfriend, his Alchemist, Rui Kamishiro, all the love in the world.
“Ahem~?”
Akito immediately snapped back into focus to see…
OH SHIT
An and her girlfriend, Akiyama, standing straight above them. He immediately shoved Rui off of him, standing up.
“Y-y-you saw nothing! Absolutely nothing!”
The two both chuckled, Akito giving Rui a hand while the two were whispering or something.
“Pfft, I didn’t think Lil Brosef’ was THAT gay to start making out with Rui in the middle of an ice rink!”
“Sooo Akito…you got a boyfriend? And you didn’t tell us!”
Akito went red, covering his face with his hands. God this was so embarrassing. What did he think he was doing? THEY WERE IN PUBLIC! He’d made a complete fool of himself.
Akito felt an arm and realized Rui was there, and had gently pushed him into them, holding him gently with one arm. And despite his embarrassment, he felt comfortable in Rui’s arms, rested against their body, and just melted into their embrace, forgetting about Ans and Akiyama's presence.
“Shiraishi-kun, Mizuki! How unexpected to see you two here!”
“Rui~! You didn’t tell me you and Akito were together!”
“I apologise. I wanted to respect Akitos wishes on keeping our relationship quiet. I wouldn’t want to upset my dear!”
Listening to Rui’s soft voice, hearing their gentle breaths, it was all making Akito feel rather drowsy. He wasn’t sure he could stay up any longer. Ans and Akiyama's voices became inaudible, and all he could hear was Rui, though he couldn’t understand what they were saying.
He closed his eyes, focusing on Rui’s voice until he fell asleep, feeling safe and secure with Rui so close to him.

“Ugh! I can’t stop falling over! It's impossible to stay afoot!”
Rui giggled at his and Mizukis exchange, watching them trip up again. Shiraishi-kun and Mizuki seemed to be wonderful at falling flat on their faces, it was quite hilarious to Rui.
His thoughts were blocked by a gentle snore. Oh yeah, Akito. The man had fallen asleep, still in his skates. Well best they get going now. Skating with a sleeping Akito seemed tricky.
“I’m sorry, but I must be going now. Someone-” He giggled, carefully picking up Akito with one arm. “-seems to be a bit sleepy~”
“Awww~! You’re not going to drop Akito, are you! It’s really easy to fall!”
“Don’t worry. Unlike you two, and Mr Sleepyhead here, I’m actually quite good at skating. Besides, I’m going to be very careful with my dear Akito!”
Rui waved goodbye to the two, skating gently over to the barrier, and holding onto it. He had to be extra sure to be careful; how cruel would he be if he woke up his sleeping beauty?
Rui giggled to himself again. Today was fun. Hopefully they could do it again sometime. Or maybe something else. As long as he could face every challenge with Akito, he’d enjoy himself.
