Work Text:

“Hey, Himiko~!” entering the room, Kokichi greeted the petite girl who stood before him.

“Nyeh?” Himiko landed her finger directly onto her bottom lip in wonder. “Oh, Kokichi.”

“Yep, that’s me!” Kokichi grinned.

“You’re early,” she added.

“Really?” Kokichi took his last baby step forward. “I thought it was the norm around-” Crashing through the window beside the both of them, shattering glass and having it all spread everywhere, a much taller female bolted towards next to Himiko.

“Stay away from Himiko,” Tenko demanded, “you degenerate male!” The smile on the grape-head’s face dropped into a sigh of disappointment. He looked to the side and stared at his hand.

“I was only saying ‘hello’ to her. Jeez.” he explained without any unwanted shortcuts taken.

“W-well, I don’t care!” Tenko shot back. “Just stay away from her!” Aggravated, Tenko readied herself into a hostile stance as if she were fighting off a wild horse from the forest, even though it’s only staring back at her.

“Whatever you say,” Kokichi huffed. Even after all of these months, Tenko could never even warm up to her own class - the males especially. On the contrary, Himiko didn’t necessarily seem to mind anyone nor anything within her classmates. That, or she was too lazy to even be annoyed.

“What do you want from me, anyway?” Himiko queried out of genuine curiosity, though also not really wanting to contribute to whatever Kokichi’s deeds could possibly be. And yet, she flowed with it regardless.

Well , it’s my Momo’s birthday today,” remarked Kokichi as he perked up from the thought of celebrating a birthday he doesn’t want his Momo to forget, “so I was wondering if any of you could help me out here.”

“Oh~ I get it,” Himiko replied, surprised and left in awe from the unexpected reasoning behind his false mischief.

Drips of sweat trickled down Tenko’s cheeks as her fingertips came in contact with one another. “Wait, you have a parent?” The bright tunnel shining through Kokichi’s mind faded into darkness while he dropped his arms to the side with a deadpan glare at the brain-dead girl in front of him. Himiko followed him in his footsteps, but awkwardly covered her eye contact with her everyday witch hat. Not before long did rowdy cackling seep through their classroom door of Hope’s Peak Academy. Almost knocking the peacefully resting door down, Ibuki rushed in whilst still laughing her head off like there was no tomorrow. “H-hey! What are you laughing at!?” Tenko played it dumb.

“Because… Because…” Ibuki eventually started crying.

“I didn’t say anything!”

“Did too,” Kokichi retorted monotonously.

“I didn’t!” Heating up like crazy, Tenko screamed. “R-right, Himiko?” she asked for a clarification, hoping that she’d be vouched for, after swiftly recovering from her shriek.

“You, uh, kind of did,” Himiko murmured.

“N-no…! Himiko!” Tenko was taken aback and felt immediately backstabbed.

“Sorry….”

Tenko fell to her knees and gasped for air.

“Ibuki heard somethin’ ‘bout a party?” Ibuki suddenly spoke out as if nothing happened, not giving Tenko a chance to dramatically yell Himiko’s name in vain.

“Yeah, it’s my Momo’s,” Kokichi answered.

“Hell yeah!” Ibuki jumped up in joy and excitement. “You want Ibuki to help out with the music?”

“Ooh, ooh!” Kokichi’s eyes sparkled. “My Momo would love that!”

“Leave the music and everythin’ else to Ibuki!” Ibuki chimed in with sparkles surrounding her as well. Afterwards, her attention was placed all over the uncomfortable Fuyuhiko, to the enticed Kokichi and back for a moment or two.

Fuyuhiko raised a brow. “What’s up?”

“Ibuki thinks you’re both in disguise or somethin’!”

A vein popped out of Fuyuhiko’s forehead. “What da hell is dat supposed to mean!?”

Anyway ,” Kokichi indirectly intervened, “can we just move on to the party thing? I’m getting bored of the whole dragging on thing.”

“Yo!” Kaito barged into the classroom also. “I heard somethin’ about a party. Count me in!”

“No,” everyone else throughout the entire classroom responded in unison.

“Hell yeah!” Kaito smiled with glee. “That’s what I’m talking about!” Once he blinked, realisation hit him. “Wait… huh?” His eyes were seemingly about to pop out of his sockets from the amount of shock that overtook him. “What the hell did I do!?” To Kaito’s misfortune, all eyes had been averted before his registration of understanding the room.

“I’ll help Himiko with the decorations!” Tenko announced as a massive stack of small letters were handed over to Fuyuhiko by Ibuki, who snickered at the overloading number of invitations covering the short guy up.

“Guess I’m doin’ da invitin’,” he told himself, regretting life decisions and totally ignoring the chaotic girl he knows well and truly.

“And Ibuki’s got the music!” Ibuki cheered. “Yahoo!” she shouted in delight.

“Ooh, I cannot wait!” Thrilled, Kokichi was over the moon.

“Hey, guys, wait! I’m here, too!” Kaito desperately called out, not wanting to be left behind. “Oi, Erena! Do something!”

No can do.

“Oh, c’mon!”

Kaito’s only job was to fetch Siren once preparations were completed and at the ready.

“Really!? That’s all!?”

Yes. Now scram.

Kaito mumbled and grumbled before taking his eventual leave.

That was mean, but it’s fun. Average birthday, Siren!
