"The outside world is amazing," Sugar Glass said as she looked at the many trees surrounding her, "it's not like anything I have seen before."
Sugar Glass flew up close to the trees to get a good look at it. She sees the bark of the tree and the many rough grooves it has. She was fascinated by it. Amber Sugar smiled at her curiosity, " It must be exciting for you to see all of the outside world for the first time."
"It is," Sugar Glass said as she looked at the leaves of the tree before sitting on one of its branches. Amber Sugar flew and sat next to her on the same branch. The two sat there in silence taking in their surroundings and looking at the sunset. Sugar Glass looks at Amber Sugar who seems to be smiling. He looked down on the ground enjoying himself.
"You look happy," Sugar Glass pointed out.
"Yeah, it's just that this is where I grew up. I'm happy to bee back even though I have a new home." Amber Sugar buzzed, "I can't help but get his warm feeling in my gut just by being here with you… I can't wait to show you around. I'm sure you will like it." Sugar Glass stared at the bee before taking in her surroundings again.
"I hope so too…" Sugar Glass smiled. Amber's face lit up with joy. He was ecstatic to be back home where he grew up, to see his old home, the other cookies he worked with, and his friends. His friends… Amber Sugar's smile faded as he remembered the argument that happened long ago. He wondered how his friends were doing and if they're still mad about what happened. Sugar Glass noticed how he was deep in his thoughts and seemed worried. She gently grabbed his hand and held it between hers. Amber Sugar felt it and changed his attention towards her.
"Is there something on your mind?" Sugar Glass mumbled with concern all over her face. Amber Sugar stared into her eyes for a bit before looking to the side unsure of what to say.
"Well, yes…" Amber Sugar admitted, "It's just I don't know how my friends will think about me when I'm back at the hive."
"I see…" Sugar Glass acknowledged, "Whatever happens, I will be by your side through the whole thing." Amber Sugar smiled before hugging her. Sugar Glass hugged him back enjoying his warm embrace. Amber always liked how sweet she was and the warmth she provided. He remembered back in the labyrinth it was very cold and Sugar Glass would cuddle to keep him warm or how she comforted him during his darkest times. It would always be enjoyable for him.
"Thank you, Sugar Glass. I need this so much." He smiled at the butterfly who he trusted with his heart.
"No problem, I will never leave your side." Sugar Glass blush a deep shade of red as she felt Amber Sugar's warm embrace. She loved how fluffy his coat is. She would even have buried her face there. Not to mention how fluffy his hair is. She adored it and she would always play with it when she got the chance. The two of them enjoyed each other's company. It's as if they don't want to let go. As the sun falls down, they need to get going. Amber Sugar decided to carry Sugar Glass to their destination, seeing that they don't wanna let go of each other. Sugar Glass was light so it wasn't a struggle. Sugar Glass felt sleepy in between his arms, but stayed up to see what Amber Sugar's old home awaits.
After a few minutes of flying, Amber Sugar reaches the city of the hive, his old home. Sugar Glass looked in awe at the beautiful architecture. Amber Sugar sets the butterfly down and the two of them wandered the streets. At this time it was dark and all the lights were on. There were not many cookies out at this time, so it was quite empty. Sugar Glass paused occasionally to admire her surroundings. The flowers around her, the shape of the pavement, the cracks on the building, it fascinated her.
Soon, Amber Sugar led Sugar Glass to a forestry looking area. It had pretty lantures and glowing crystals. All leading to a small cottage.
"Here we are," Amber Sugar smiled, "home sweet home."
"This is your old home?" Sugar Glass quietly questions. He nodded, "why yes, I know it's completely different from the large and spacious labyrinth, but I think you will enjoy a small and humble cottage."
Amber Sugar was about to open the door when he noticed a flower pot right in front of it. He shrugs it off thinking it wasn't important and moves it aside. Then he slowly opened the door and entered inside. Nothing changed last time Amber Sugar was here, but it was clear someone did take care of it while he was gone. Amber Sugar was surprised at the idea since he didn't think anyone would give a sh*t after what happened.
"Huh, I don't remember leaving my home this clean," Amber Sugar noted. Sugar Glass opens a door nearby to find a big bed with fluffy blankets all nicely made.
"Did you left your bed all neat and clean?" Sugar Glass asked Amber Sugar peeks his head into the room, "No, not at all. My room is usually a mess."
"Strange… Do you think anyone cleaned it while you were gone?"
"The real question is who would clean my room after all this time?" Amber Sugar didn't really care about it and then jumped onto the bed. He lies there enjoying himself.
"Who cares, it feels good to be home." Amber Sugar mumbled. Sugar Glass flew over and sat next to him, "I like it here… It's warm and cozy…"
"Wanna know what else is warm and cozy?" Amber Sugar gives a cheeky smile on his face.
"What?" Sugar Glass responded. Without warning, Amber Sugar pulled Sugar Glass into a hug. He held her tight as she squirmed around his grasp laughing. The two of them started getting playful with each other before slowly embracing each other's grasp.
"I still can't believe I'm this far away from the labyrinth… with you…" Sugar Glass smiled. Amber Sugar brushed some hair off her face before gently grabbing her cheek, "This must be a big accomplishment for you. I'm happy to see you come this far."
Sugar Glass smiles before resting on his chest. Amber Sugar didn't mind at all. He was happy to be here with her. Sugar Glass meant a lot to him and he owns her so much. Those days spent together in the labyrinth strengthen their bond with each other.
"What's the plan for tomorrow?" Sugar Glass asked.
"Get breakfast, then find my old friends and hopefully make amends with them. After spending the day here then we leave in the morning," Amber Sugar replied.
"Alrighty then," Sugar Glass yawned before closing her eyes, "Good night, Amber…"
Amber Sugar smiled as he held her tight, "Good night, Sugar."
Amber Sugar watches her fall asleep on his chest. He stares up at the ceiling wondering what would happen tomorrow. He has a plan, but what is the outcome? Will his friends ever forgive him or not? All he knows is whatever happens, Sugar Glass will be there for him.
