Cross was tired. So tired.
He wasn't dumb. He knew he need it. But it was hard to sleep when it was frigid in his room.
He huffed to himself quietly, running his phalanges together in a circular motion to create warmth between them. He didn't eat dinner yet.
He didn't want to.
Getting up was a hassle considering the blanket predicament he was in at the moment. Letting out a small growl, he hoisted himself from his bed with a grunt. His socks meet the cold hardwood tiling of his spacious bedroom. Nothing but a few drawings he made on the walls, a desk, a closet, and a bed.
He sighed and ran his fingers along his door knob before creaking it open to the hallway just outside. He stepped out to the hallway and shut the door softly.
The monster lumbered sleepily down the hall and yawned, making his way down the grand steps and setting his feet on the living room floor. A room with a very large couch, coffee table, comfy rug, and fireplace with a TV sitting atop it.
Cross remembered when he had first came to this castle, looked nothing like it did now. The walls had fissures within them, dusty, and full of rather unsanitary conditions in general. But when the gang started to get pieced together, they helped Night pick up the place to bring it to what it is now. Cross was grateful for them all. Their acceptance of his transition. Just... Him...
He shook his head softly and smiled lightly, making his way to the kitchen, only to find two others in there having a late-night chat.
Killer, a... questionable monster. He was always joking. Always playing. Always moving. Honestly, he annoyed the fuck out of Cross sometimes. Cross loved him though. Even if he hated to admit it.
And Horror, a large but gentle being. Liked to take things slower, garden, and cook. Basically the head chef for the castle. He was the only one who offered to cook. It didn't really matter to Cross. Horror’s meals were always amazing.
Cross blinked when the heads turned his way. Killer gave a cheesy grin, "Heya, Crossy~." he said.
"Hey, cookie." Horror murmured, standing up and walking to the stove, where a big pot of something was cooking. It smelled really good, Cross noted.
"hi." The monochrome skeleton said softly, taking a seat at the kitchen table, opposite from Killer and one away from Horror.
"Watcha doing up, C?" Killer asked, putting his hand out on the table.
Cross accepted his offer, gently taking his hand and leaning his forehead against the table, "mm, can't sleep. Just, thinking.." Killer made a small sound, rubbing his hand against Cross'.
"Ya didn't come down for dinner, Night said you were sleeping."
"Oh, I wasn't. Just..."
"Thinking?" Killer finished his thought. Cross lifted his head and nodded.
"Hungry?" Horror asked quietly, looking over his shoulder at the pair.
Cross nodded, "Yes pleassse." Killer said, emphasizing the please, flashing Horror his teeth. Horror gave an unimpressed look and turned down at the pot with slightly red cheekbones.
Cross looked over as Killer got up from his seat, and started to walk over to help Horror get dishes for the three of them.
Cross started to rise so he could help, but Killer turned around and put a hand out in front of himself as his back hit the countertop lightly, "Stay seated Oreo, you look like you're going to pass out. Just let us get it."
Cross huffed but complied and sat down in his seat, arms crossed.
Rather quickly, he was served a bowl of warm, steaming chili. Horror placed a glass of water and a spoon in Infront of him, giving Cross a small kiss on the cheek, sitting right beside him, and setting a glass of water spoon in Infront of Killer and himself.
Cross' cheeks lightly flushed as he smiled dreamily and scooped the spoon up from the tabletop, putting it in his chili and digging in. It was amazing. He had no doubts it would be. The other two chatted and ate while Cross scarfed his meal down, taking a few sips of water in between.
He eventually finished, setting the spoon in the dish, and slid it away from himself and he took his final sip of water from the glass and slid that away from him as well. He stretched out lightly and rested his hands against the table, putting his head in them as his partners next to him talked.
He felt satisfied now. Full and warm, tired mostly. He felt a hand slide up his back and rub his spine reassuringly, he let it as his eyesockets slipped shut, and the voices of his partners became distant and cloudy.
Horror glanced over at Cross, who seemed to be sleeping soundly as his hand continued to rub his spine. Killer was already almost finished cleaning up the dishes as he looked back at the two while washing a bowl.
"He should stop running himself so thin every day." Horror exhaled heavily through his nose and nodded.
The large skeleton got up from his seat and gently shuffled his hands underneath the sleeping skeleton before him, scooping him up. He rested Cross' head against his shoulder, kissing him on the forehead as Killer walked up beside him.
"Where's my kiss?" He whispered, pouting lightly. Horror rolled his eye light before bending over and kissing Killer quickly on the mouth. Killer grinned mischievously.
"Let's go to bed, huh?" Killer asked.
Horror nodded, the two walking upstairs to join their lovers.
