Chapter Text
The nerve of that girl! Maxi couldn't believe it at all. Not only had Andrea made embarrassing (albeit comfy) sweaters for him, not only had she edited photos of him and posted them online to make them look like a couple, but she had also told her parents who were just as crazy as her that they were a couple! She was unbelievable, and no matter how many times he tried to tell her he didn't like her, the message just wouldn't come across. What was wrong with her?!
"Maxi, what's wrong? You look angry." Maxi heard as he saw Andrés sitting down in front of him. They weren't close friends or anything, but considering his actual friends did nothing but tease him when it came to Andrea, telling someone else could hardly make things worse.
"It's Andrea, she's constantly bothering me, she thinks we're a couple."
"The girl with the big guitar?" Andrés asked.
"Yes, her," Maxi answered, "and it's called a cello."
"A what?"
"Never mind," Maxi really couldn't believe Andrés sometimes. He had to admit, his lack of knowledge was rather adorable. "Andrea thinks we're a couple for some reason, but she drives me crazy!"
"Have you tried telling her?"
Maxi nodded, "but it doesn't get through to her. Every time I tell her I don't like her in that way, she seems like she isn't listening at all..."
"Maybe I can help," Andrés offered.
"How? Nothing anyone says seems to stop her, she's nuts!"
"I don't know yet, but I'll think of something. I promise!" Hopeless though it seemed, Maxi was glad that at least Andrés was on his side. If only getting rid of Andrea didn't seem like it was impossible...
It had been two days since Andrés had offered to help Maxi, and yet nothing had happened. In fact, things had only become worse. Andrea had forced herself on him when he'd been caught off-guard, and so now his first kiss had been taken by a crazy lunatic. His friends had just teased him, saying he was finally warming up to her. In reality, Maxi was ready to snap at her and throw all kinds of unkind words her way. He was planning to hide in the Resto as usual, but the sound of a text message on his phone stopped him.
"I have a plan to stop Andrea. Come to the park near the studio." It seemed like Andrés finally had a plan to help Maxi out. Now, knowing Andrés, Maxi's hopes weren't too high. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so Maxi didn't really count on him being too clever a schemer, but anything was worth a try if it meant stopping Andrea.
Maxi immediately spotted Andrés when he arrived at the park. He was sitting on a bench, constantly looking around him, likely looking for Maxi. When Andrés spotted him, he shot up and happily waved at him. Maxi approached his friend and prayed to every deity possible that this would work out so he could finally live in peace again.
"So... what's the plan?" Maxi asked, sitting down on the bench next to Andrés.
"We have to wait a bit, but I promise it'll work out." Weird. Andrés was being rather mysterious with how he dodged answering the question. Maxi decided not to press the guy, and instead waited with him as Andrés continued to look around the area, seemingly looking for something. Or someone. Whatever it was, it seemed to take forever, and Maxi started wondering if Andrés really did have a plan in mind and wasn't just wasting his time.
"Andrés, do you actually have a pl-"
"It's time!" Andrés exclaimed as he suddenly edged closer to Maxi to the point where their legs were touching. He suddenly cupped Maxi's left cheek with his right hand, setting Maxi's cheeks ablaze.
"What are you doing?!" Maxi exclaimed. This was far from any plan he could have imagined. If this was even a plan. His heart was racing.
"Do you trust me?" Andrés asked. Maxi nervously nodded. It was not that he wasn't sure about his trust in Andrés, it was more that he had no idea what was happening to him. He was sweating. The world felt like it was slowing down as Andrés closed his eyes and placed his lips on Maxi's.
This couldn't be real. There was no way this was actually happening. Never in a million years did Maxi expect to be kissed by Andrés (then again, he hadn't expected his first kiss to be with Andrea). He also never expected it to feel that good. Maxi had wanted to throw up and wash his lips for hours when Andrea kissed him, but this... this felt good. It felt real, and not forced. Unsure of the reasoning behind the kiss, Maxi felt too scared to deepen it. He merely closed his eyes and let Andrés do everything. Andrés just kept going, and though it definitely felt longer than it lasted in reality, it also felt like Andrés purposefully kept going for longer than necessary. But then, a gasp in a familiar voice made Maxi realize why.
"M-Maxi..." Andrea's voice trembled. Andrés immediately broke, and they both opened their eyes to the girl's mortified face. Andrés slowly removed his hand from Maxi's cheek, and Maxi immediately felt a shiver going through his body. Somehow, the sudden lack of Andrés' touch felt wrong.
"Maxi, I thought... but we were... you're with him?" Tears were becoming visible in her eyes. So that was the plan.
"I'm sorry, Andrea, I tried to tell you a million times..." Maxi acted, "but you didn't listen."
"I see... well..." Andrea sniffed, "silly me! I-" Andrea seemingly broke down in tears and ran away. Maxi felt a pang of guilt, but quickly remembered how she'd forced herself on him and embarrassed him in front of his friends. It was better this way. Now Maxi was free again.
"Well, I'm glad that worked out," Andrés said. Maxi turned back to the guy who had been kissing him moments earlier and saw him beaming with pride.
"How... how did you come up with this?" Maxi inquired. He needed to know how Andrés got the idea to kiss him into his head.
"Well, since you said words didn't work with Andrea, I thought you had to show her something that would show her you don't like her," Andrés explained, "so I noticed she always walked through the park after classes and decided to pick a spot and time so she would see it, and I couldn't really ask Camila or Francesca to kiss you."
"No, that would've been awkward," Maxi chuckled, "thank you, by the way, for helping me. There aren't many people willing to go this far to help out a friend."
"Glad to help! But I really need to go, see you around!" Andrés hastily spoke, running away.
"Yeah, see you..." Maxi said to himself. Well... this had certainly been a day. Maxi was finally free from Andrea, but it had created even more troubles in his life. Like how kissing Andrés had felt like the most magical thing in his life, and that he was now so confused at how to feel about it. One thing was sure, he no longer considered that kiss with Andrea his first. No, that wasn't what a kiss should be. This kiss with Andrés was his first, and he couldn't be more glad about it.
