Work Text:
besides their most important secret. mizuki had another secret that they would never tell anyone.
they don’t know how to ride a bike.
it’s not like their parents forgot to teach them. it’s just that they never wanted to learn. throughout their whole life, they’ve always lived close enough to the school so they could walk. they never felt the need to know how to ride a bike.
that is until they met their girlfriend, ena.
ena taught them things they never knew. ena helped them get through the toughest time in their life. and mizuki trusted her with their most precious secret. though, they never told her they couldn’t ride a bike.
until that one faithful day…
“HAHAHA!” ena’s laugh echoed throughout the house. “you’re telling me, that you don’t know how to ride a bike?!” she started crying from how much she was laughing.
“shut up, enanan! you’re being so mean and for what?” mizuki grumbled. why does ena bring so mean to them?
“my bad, my bad!” ena said, getting up from the floor she was on for laughing too hard. “um, is there a reason you can’t ride a bike? like a disability or…”
mizuki took their head. “i never asked, plus i never had a reason.”
ena chortled but then breathed in and out. “…o-okay, um,” she looked away, face flushed at what she was about to say. “i could teach you how. my dad always keeps 2 pairs of bikes in the garage, so…”
“huh? you’ll do that for me, enanan??” mizuki asked questionly. ena’s face flushed red.
“y-yes…”
the other person’s eyes widened. “thank you so muchhh, enanan~!!” they attacked her with hugs, kissing her cheeks and just kissing her face in general. “what day?”
“u-um, t-tomorrow…? consider it as…a bike date?”
“deal!”
the following day, mizuki met ena up at her house and ena took out the bicycles and blew some air into them before helping mizuki on. “yeah, that’s it, when you’re on it just practice balancing,” she said, holding her arms out just in case mizuki fell. “there you go, you got it?”
“y-yeah, i’m balanced.”
“good, that was fast. hehe, you’re a fast learner.”
ena backed up a bit. “okay, now try to start riding, you need to try stopping now,” mizuki hummed, then started moving their feet on the pedals. they were doing a good job. they had gone farther down the driveway. wait, they were actually doing a good job! wow, is ena going to be proud of them? is she gonna praise them for getting at least one thing right? they needed to turn to the sidewalk or else they would get hit by a car, so they turned a bit, but lost their balance and fell.
“AHH—“
“mizuki!”
mizuki fell on their ass, and their tailbone probably broke. ena ran over to them and kneeled. “mizuki! are you okay??” ena asked, checking mizuki all over for any scratches. all they had was a cut on their knee. “ugh…this is what you get for being so cocky.”
“what?! i wasn’t being cocky whatsoever!”
“yeah, sure!”
after helping mizuki with their cut, ena said that her dad has a bike with two seats they could use and that she could bike. mizuki obviously asked why she didn’t mention that, and ena just shrugged her shoulders. they both got on the bike and started riding to a cafe to get breakfast together.
“where do you want to go?” ena asked, using her hand to place it on mizuki’s knee who was behind her.
“hmm, how about that pancake place you went to with akito? you said you wanted to go there with me as a date, so why not now?” mizuki wrapped their arms around ena’s waist, not because they were scared they were gonna fall off. they just wanted to be close to her.
“okay," was all ena said.
mizuki sighed, kissing ena on her back. times like this they wished it could last forever. but, nothing as forever, not even love...
"you’re paying, by the way.”
“WHAT?!”
