Work Text:
She could hear the girl's voice from meters away from her room. Sabine hurried there as she knew something was wrong with her little student. Her heavy rushed steps echoed through the corridors of the oil rig they lived at, making a thundering sound.
As she entered the room she found the girl lying on the table, her forehead resting on her arms, hiding her face behind the always messy waves of brown hair. Saga's shoulders shook hard as she sobbed and whimpered. It seemed like with a hand she was clutching at her chest, making Sabine more worried. As she stepped closer she could feel a wave of sorrow coming from the girl.
Sabine stopped mid-step. It was such an intense feeling she rarely felt. She needed a moment to pull herself together so she could walk behind the girl.
She watched Saga crying her soul out. Her cellphone was still on the table with gleaming screen. Sabine could see that there was an opened message window. She dared to read the last message and everything became clear.
Saga got dumped by her crush.
Sabine let out a little sigh. She looked at her again and watched carefully.
She'd lived for thousands of years. She'd seen many forms of sorrow and pain, she'd been in wars, causing and getting terrible injuries. Her own body had lots of scars from the battles she fought, making her remember the pain. But even though she'd witnessed so many things, seeing Saga's agony made her realize one thing.
Nothing hurts more than a broken heart.
She took a step closer and put a hand on her shoulder. She felt the tension in Saga's muscles.
"Hey. Lift up your head. You're better than that. Show them your strength. You have the flames in your heart. Use them and show them you're way stronger than that. Stronger than anyone would think."
Her voice wasn't like a general's now. Determined for sure, giving the vibe that there was no as an answer. And yet, for now, she could put away that commanding manner.
She watched as the girl slowly lifted up her head. As Saga looked at her she could see how messy the girl's face was from the tears. She looked into her eyes, and even though there was pain in them she could see the sparkle of the flames Saga had discovered lately. Sabine couldn't help but show a little satisfied smile.
"Come now" she said patting her shoulder. "I have work for you.".
Sabine turned over to leave the room, and without a word, Saga followed her master.
