LycoReco Writer's Collab: Bombs at The Port

Summary:

PLOT: Chisato and Takina are woken up by an emergency call from the DA: a bomb threat in a warehouse at the Port of Tokyo. They have to go in together with other Lycoris to investigate and shut it down before the press can get word of the incoming disaster. However, they may not be ready for what they may find among the boxes and containers.

Welcome to this little thing! This is a writer's collab. This means this I, Matalya, will not be the only person doing the writing here. Instead, a series of 11 writers will write each at least one chapter, one after another sequentially, until we have a full story. I'll be posting the chapters here, but each chapter will be written by a different person. There will be style clashes, there's likely to be chaos and nonsense. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful mess that we create together!

Chapter Text

Chisato’s phone rang in the middle of the night. She got up, put on her puffy footwear, and slowly walked towards the phone.

“Hello?” said Chisato drowsy.

“Chisato,” said Mika.

“Teach? It’s 2 in the morning, you better have a very good reason to call me this early.”

“I just got word from the DA. I need you at the cafe ASAP.”

“Okie.” Chisato got dressed in her uniform, grabbed her bag and left on her motorcycle.

Night still dominated the cityscape of Tokyo. The area she was driving through wasn’t too heavily patrolled, so there was a remarkable amount of peace. The lights of night time businesses illuminated the streets, no car was driving through the asphalt, and silence was the law of the kingdom.

She arrived at the cafe and met with Takina who had also just arrived.

“Takina? You got the call too?”

“Yes, I did. I answered as quickly as I could.” Replied Takina. “Do you know why we were called?”

“Nope, figured Teach didn’t want to tell us through the phone.” said Chisato while pensively looking upwards, laying on her motorcycle. “Let’s get it then” she said as both entered.

“What’s up, teach?” greeted Chisato. “Good Evening, Sir.” greeted Takina. “What is the urgent mission?”

“A bomb threat on the Port of Tokyo” answered Mika. “I received a call from the DA that Radiata got wind of a group of terrorists planning to blow up one of the warehouses, goods valued in several millions could be lost.”

“But there are hundreds of those in Tokyo!” exclaimed Chisato. “Any information on which warehouse could it be?” added Takina.

“Sadly, we have no idea. However, we have reasons to believe the bombs haven't been planted yet.” replied Mika. “So your mission would be to investigate the area and find if they have, and if so, disarm and find out who's planning the attack. Ideally, we want to avoid turmoil; if word spreads, prices for anything could spike hard as businesses prepare for supply gaps.” Concluded Mika.

After he briefed the girls in the mission, a set of breaks were heard, followed by a pair of doors opening, and subsequently closing. “Customers? We’re not open this late.” questioned Chisato.

“You won’t be working on your own tonight.” confirmed Mika. Right as he finished, the door opened to let in a combination of uniforms reminiscent of Chisato and Takina. A short red-wearing woman with wavy brown hair, light purple eyes filled with determination and professionalism; and a blonde woman, side-shaved head holding a pair of red eyes emanating confidence.

“Them.” said Chisato in a sarcastic confirmating manner. “This isn’t the time for pranks, Teach.”

“Listen here, whoddya take me for?” said Fuki.

“Fuki, calm down. It’s not a prank, Chisato. The DA sent them in to assist you two,” replied Mika.

“Tsk. Ok then.” said Chisato. “Let’s do our best working together.” said Takina with a small smile.

“What got to you now?” Fuki questioned.

“I just wish to set aside our quarrel for the sake of the greater good.”

“…yeah.” said Fuki with a little confusion. Kurumi came from her room to see what was going on. “Sakura, do your thing.” said Fuki.

“Yes.” Sakura then promptly pulled out a laptop, and proceeded to set it down on the counter. Upon opening it, a detailed map of the Port of Tokyo made itself visible. Sakura began explaining.

“We've gone through the data that Radiata gave us to narrow the search down a little. From all the warehouses, we've managed to get it down to two very likely ones: Warehouses 307 and 308 at the foodstuffs terminal. They contain critical imports for the summer festival in the coming weeks, so disrupting the supply would set back the event by months.” described Sakura. “The plan is for Chisato to scout 307 from the windows above the southwest entrance since she’s far more self-sufficient. The handrails should provide plenty of visual cover to work around guards. 308 will be scouted by Fuki and Takina, who–” Takina had a sudden and very visible reaction to the two names. “Takina, do you have an issue?” questioned Fuki. “Are you ok, Takina?” asked Chisato.

“Yes, I'm fine. My apologies. Please, continue.”

“Yeah… as I was saying. You two will have to flank the warehouse from opposing ends, the north and south entrances should not actually be guarded at that time, so you have a clear way.”

“Sakura will not be in the field.” continued Fuki. “As much of a sharpshooter as she is, her technological abilities are what we need for this mission. Should our position or objectives be compromised, we'll need off field support to clear the situation.”

“Hey! What about me? I don't work with amateurs!” said Kurumi. Fuki and Sakura turned to see the little blonde girl with hair as long as herself, and produced a face of sheer confusion.

“Huh… who's child is this?” asked Sakura.

“She's Kurumi. She works here.” replied Mika.

“…y'know child labor is illegal, right?”

“No– not like that. She's our hacker girl!” said Chisato.

“She is? She's not a day older than ten.”

“That's ten more than I need to cyberkick your ass back to the times of Enigma.”

“Kid, come back when you can tell a USB apart from an HDMI.”

“Palm tree, you couldn't tell a DB-25 Serial/Com apart from a 50 pin SCSI-2 if you counted the packages. Get to the side or the out, just don't get in the way.”

“Huh… anyway. We'll be using Radiata, so you two tune to the proper channel.”

“Heh.” Said Kurumi.

“What was it, piss-yellow gnome?”

“Nothing, just remembered a joke.”

“Sure… anyway. If you find a bomb or suspects, report your position, wait for the rest and we'll engage together.” Sakura concluded.

“One more thing, since the port doesn't allow civilian vehicles we can't go by car. How do you generally go on missions?” asked Fuki.

“Ah, by train.” replied Chisato.

"Eh?" Fuki responded in surprise.

“By train? That's like 90 minutes to the port!” exclaimed Sakura.

“Then we better leave quickly.” Answered Takina.

“It's a good time to wind down pre-mission stress!” added Chisato.

“You two got everything?” confirmed Takina.

“Yes. It would've been very irresponsible to come from the outskirts of Tokyo all the way to Sumida without being prepared,” said Fuki, annoyed.

“Then let us begin."
