Starker Festivals Summer Bingo (2021) Square: Interrupted Decoration of Love

Peter Parker Pov

Notes:

A/N: This is a year and half old. I never posted it, until now.

Work Text:

The cafe was a little less crowded than usual today. Maybe because it was really hot outside and no one wanted coffee drinks in the hot weather. That’s probably not true since Tony Stark and Peter Parker were both waiting in line.

“So, sweetheart, what’s been new with you?” Tony asks Peter. It was small talk. They’ve been seeing each other for half a year now. Meeting at new locations, or in the middle of an assignment, to chat and such.

“Just the same old school stuff. My professor is a really bad teacher. I just can’t learn from him, and it’s showing on my grades,” Peter says, being really honest with Tony. He liked being honest with Tony.

The line moved forward and they were up next. They ordered their cold drinks and went to sit at a table and wait.

“Hm, maybe you should come over some time, maybe I can help you. What class is it anyway?”

“It’s [author decided not to pick a class] and it’s not like it’s a hard class, I know what I’m doing, but the way the teacher wants it is frustrating.”

Tony reached across the small table, taking Peter’s hands into his. “It’s ok, I’ll help you.”

Peter can feel his heart flutter. He smiled softly at Tony. Tony Stark was so sweet. Peter wanted this feeling for the rest of his life.

“Thank you,” Peter replies.

They say their for a bit. Tony rubbing his thumb over Peter’s hand. It was the soft touches that needed no words between them that Peter liked the most.

Except he felt like words needed to be said.

He wanted to tell Tony how he felt, even if it was completely obvious.

“Tony I,-” he starts, his voice very shallow and timid.

“Sorry, baby I can’t hear you, speak up,” Tony interrupts.

Of course. It was hard to hear soft voices over the small chatter of the cafe and machines doing whatever the machines do.

Peter clears his throat. “I was saying, I really appreciate you Tony. I appreciate all the things you do for me.”

“Aw. I appreciate you too. And I love lending a hand whenever you need it. You’re a college student, you’re gonna need help with stuff.

Peter nods his head in agreement. Appreciate wasn't the exact word he wanted to use but it’s not too far off.

“Two iced coffees,” the barista says approaching them with their drinks in his hand.

“Oh yes, thank you,” Tony says.

He takes a sip first, followed by Peter.

And then his phone rang. Well to be specific Tony's phone rang.

He stared at the caller ID.

“Sweetheart,” he says deflated. Oh no. “Can we reschedule this for another day?”

“Yeah of course.”

“Ok, great. Come over this weekend and bring your work.”

Peter nodded his head, watching as Tony collected his stuff and walked out the area answering the phone.
