LUtober #20: Desolation

Hyrule and Wind launch a defense for their Hyrules.

Work Text:

"The thing about Hyrule is that it never really falls. Even when the hero dies and Ganon wins, the people continue on. Someone keeps fighting for the kingdom.

"Time and time again it has faced desolation. Ganon. Vaati. Bellum. Cia. Demise. Each and every one of them fought to control Hyrule. Each tried to reign destruction on the land. Each and everyone of them failed.

"There may have been moments of temporary victory, but they were just that: temporary. One way or another, however, they fell. Often to the hero, but also to the sages and even more rarely, Hylia.

"You say our land has been wrought with destruction, the land is dying, and that Hyrule is gone. What you don't see is how resilient the people and land are. It's growing, becoming something new. Maybe it isn't quite like how you imagine Hyrule to be, but it has yet to be properly conquered.

"No matter the calamities or desolations faced, Hyrule comes out strong. The heroes from these times are living reminders of what the land has gone through, but they are living. And with that, how can Hyrule ever truly die?"

Wind and Hyrule finished their defense of their eras, both responding to the solemn looks they got from a couple members of the Chain when they saw the current state of their Hyrules. Wild was going to join in, but held back once the other two had gotten started.

This seemed to ease their worries over the future of the land as they came to realize the truth in their words. The Chain continued walking, heading down the path in search of a nearby town, freshly admiring what lay around them.
