Work Text:

Her phone vibrated in the depths of her skirt's pocket. She already knew who it was going to be. Fishing it out, Youngeun checked the notification and sure enough, it was a message from Jia.

🐱: where are you?

She gazed back out at the city, contemplating what to say before she sent a quick reply.

🦊: i'm out on the balcony. miss me already? ;)

🐱: i just needed to make sure that you didn't sneak out and ditch me :(

🦊: hey, I'd never do that! have a little more faith in me...

🐱: i'm just teasing you :P I'll come up

It didn't take long before Youngeun's sharp ears heard a faint sound of the sliding door opening and closing, followed by footsteps slowly approaching her. A beat passed, and Youngeun felt arms encircling her waist, pulling her in for a gentle back-hug. A weight rested on her shoulder, short locks of blonde hair tickling her cheek.

She never admitted it before, but she always felt safe and comforted whenever Jia did this. Youngeun received many hugs from various people in her life, but something about the way Jia gave them never failed to make her heart flutter.

"This is nice," the taller girl uttered, breaking the quiet, serene air between them.

Youngeun wasn't sure if she meant the view or the intimate position they were in, but nodded anyway.

"The rest of the girls were wondering where you were."

"I needed some fresh air," Youngeun said. "Didn't mean to take too long though. I'll apologise to them when I come down."

The hold on her waist tightened slightly.

"Are you alright?" Jia asked, her voice filled with concern. "You don't have to stay for too long. I know you've been busy."

"I'm good," Youngeun reassured her, softly caressing the ridges on one of her friend's knuckles. "I was just thinking about things. Good things, okay? Besides, I can't just leave when the fried chicken isn't even here yet!"

A giggle came from behind her, followed by Jia nuzzling against the side of her head. "So you're only agreeing to stay just for the food, huh? You're terrible."

"Come for the cute girls, stay for the fried chicken."

Jia smacked Youngeun playfully on her arm. "I'll tell Yujin unnie about this."

"Heh, sure you will."

Turning around to finally face the other girl, Youngeun didn't hesitate to return the embrace. "I really am glad that you invited me over for this movie night with the rest. It really has been a while since we last saw each other. Texting and video calls really aren't the same as..." Youngeun closed her eyes and snuggled deeper into the soft material of Jia's hoodie. "...this."

"Yeah," Jia nodded. "I should thank my lucky stars that I invited you on a day where you surprisingly have no schedules."

"Doesn't matter if I have schedules or not, I'll always make time for you."

Youngeun made sure of that every single time.
