Corpse Groom

Summary:

After getting fed up with the wedding rehearsal with Momo, the one he was arranged to marry set by the soon to be couple's parents, Bakugou wandered out into the forest, accidently marrying himself to a corpse, Kirishima, who had been waiting for his true love to come set him free.

I was reminded that there's such thing as a corpse bride kiribaku au and been spending most the brainstorming for it as well as writing (but mostly brainstorming) since I couldn't see a whole lot of content out there.

Updates will be whenever. My goal here is to get this thing finished by or on Halloween.

Chapter 1: The Bakugou's meet the Yaoyorozu's

Chapter Text

News of the marriage between the Bakugou's family's only son and the Yaoyorozu's only daughter was known all throughout the town during the winter season. Yet the sky shed gloomy shades of gray despite that supposedly good news.

Perhaps it was the reason of why there was a marriage taking place to begin with. Not for love like weddings should usually be about but of greed from the parents. Once rich, now thirsting for money, the young couple was the perfect solution.

Little did either parent know that neither family had a single coin to spare. Their safes which should be filled to the brim with riches only produced cobwebs and dust.

The marriage would be taking place the next day, the current day being in which the wedding rehearsal would take place. Everything between the two families must be kept perfect. All according to plan.

Katsuki sat in the carriage seat across from his parents after getting scolded at by his mother for taking his sweet time inside when they were being waited on for a wedding rehearsal. No one wanted a husband who would doddle.

Katsuki said nothing, his resting face a slight scowl, eyes glowering as he looked out the window, listening to the carriage wheels turn and clomp against the stone brick road. Letting this noise drown out Mitsuki's lecturing for how he should and shouldn't do and say while reciting his vows.

Luckily, the carriage ride was quick, so he didn't need to hear her words trying to drill into the side of his brain until it stuck, forcing him into becoming the type of groom that was up to his mother and father's standards.

The Bakugou family walked up the steps to the Yaoyorozu household to be greeted by the family themselves. Their attire seemed to be slightly higher in fashion than the Bakugou's, Mitsuki sharing an excited glance with her husband before getting introduced to the three who stood in front of them.

"And this is our daughter Momo," Her mother said.

Her daughter stood off to the side of her parents, eyeing Katsuki curiously as if wondering if he was the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Uncertain of how to feel just by looks.

Both Momo and Katsuki were miserably thrown into this forced marriage, this being the first time they ever laid eyes on each other.

After the introductions, Mr. and Mrs. Bakugou had tried chatting with Momo's mother and father. Compared to Katsuki's parents, they weren't nearly as talkative and hadn't shed an ounce of enthusiasm for their daughter's wedding.

With Momo brought elsewhere, Katsuki was left alone in the main hall with the grand piano. Looking around the house, the blonde wondered how old the home was. It seemed to be kept by Momo's family in generations. Judging by the rustic build of the home. Most homes in town were built way back then just like this one.

Up above where the stairs led was a hallway, it's walls hung with photos and even portraits of Momo's relatives. It had to have been the only objects in the house that held the most color. Everywhere else insisted in dull and dark shades of décor and furnish of the home.

With a small sigh, Katsuki sat upon the stool in front of the piano. He'd gotten déjà vu of the many lessons he received ever since he were a small child. For whatever reason, his parents believed that knowing to play an instrument such as a piano, was an important skill to know.

Katsuki lifted the case that hid the keys of the piano, testing one of them with his finger. It played a dull, deep note that echoed throughout the room. Normally he would keep his hands off of other's properties, but his parents, Mother mainly, could talk the ears off Momo's parents to the point where they wish to never hear again.

He cracked his knuckles and engaged into song.

Katsuki played a song that often would be the first song to come to mind when he thought of or heard the word piano get mentioned. It was graceful, the tune getting louder as more confidence was being played into the song, taking it up a whole other level.

The song helped the soon to be groom get his mind of the marriage to be taken place just the next day. The blonde a little too focused in song that he hadn't noticed Momo come down the stairs, smiling a little as she admired the tune.

"That sounds beautiful," she spoke.

This made Katsuki jump up, biting back a curse as he slammed his legs up on the piano. Which lead to the little vase resting up top of the instrument to fall but not to the ground, Katsuki catching it in the nick of time and setting it back down.

The skinny little plant with even smaller flowers along the stem that was in the vase however didn't get the same luck as the vase. Momo had picked the little plant off the ground, placing it back in its spot.

"My apologies," Katsuki said as he stood up from the stool. He usually didn't speak so polished but around guests, it was brought heavy on him by his mother that he must unless he wanted to suffer the consequences. It looked bad if he didn't follow the example.

"That's quite alright," Momo replied.

Katsuki seemed so quiet and almost robotic at how his good manners were displayed. She had a feeling he wasn't letting his personality shine through. He must have strict parents much like her own. Though around guests they didn't seem that way at all. Through her own experience, she knew what lied upon the closed doors.

They stood in an awkward silence, glancing at one another long to see something such as an eye color then adverted their gazes. A few minutes passed as this went on before Katsuki seemed to have enough of it, starting up a conversation.

"You seem thrilled to be wedded with me tomorrow," he spoke, sarcasm heavy on his tone. The parts that Momo assumed to be his real personality started to shine through a little.

"Well, I have always wanted to get married to someone through an arrangement set by my parents," Momo said, the tips of Katsuki's lips curving up just a little as his sarcasm was detected.

If not attracted to her, which had nothing to do with Momo, he could see she was quite the catch, just, not his type, then at least he'd have a partner who understood sarcasm rather than taking it seriously or just being too dense to sense it or understand it.

"What do you think of marriage, if being able to choose who you wish to spend your life with?" Momo asked.

For Momo herself, she adored the idea. Having a celebration with those she loved in favor of her and her beloved. Someone she actually knew and loved from the start. Even if in the future she were to love Katsuki, she would want to spend the marriage when actually having those feelings.

And for Katsuki, by the way his parents made things, he didn't care who showed up as long as he loved and cared about the person and vice versa. Heck, if they were to elope even, he'd be fine with it.

"When not being forced upon, it sounds nice," Katsuki replied as Momo nodded in agreement.

"You know, you're not the worst company," he complimented as Momo laughed a little, a gentle smile resting on her lips. "Same goes for-"

She was interrupted by the calls of their parents. It looked like the one-sided conversations from the older adults from the other room had ended, meaning that it was now time for their wedding rehearsal.

There must be perfection, meaning every last little thing must go according to plan.
