May the universe bring us together again

Summary:

GN reader x Chuuya
This fic follows the canon with my own spin to it

You and your brother, Osamu Dazai have an unexpected run in with a certain ginger while on your first mission. All the good and bad times that followed were up to the universe and fate itself. Except one.

You wondered. How would this encounter affect you? How would this end? You were oblivious. Maybe even naive.

Chuuya questioned to himself in the end. Maybe all the good things that happend were a lie. Or maybe it was all his fault. He cared too much.

Chapter 1: Expect the unexpected

Chapter Text

It was the middle of the night and you heard your phone buzzing next to you. You groaned and picked up your phone.

“Who could be texting me at 2 in the morning…”

Your eyes still blurry from waking up finally adjusted when you saw the notification.

“Two new messages from Osamu”

“Why is my brother texting me this late?” you thought to yourself. You clicked the notification.

Osamu: I love you
I’m sorry

Your eyes widened. “Huh, what does that mean?” You realized he was acting off lately though you never really questioned it, you thought it was just something that happens when puberty hits. You both lived together alone since your parents were always at work, well that's what Osamu told you at least.

You decided to check up on your brother getting out of your bed and did a little stretch before walking to your brother's room.

“Osamu? Are you alright in there?”

No response.

You were starting to get a little worried. You knocked again “Osamu are you in there? I’m gonna come in if you don’t answer”

No response.

You hesitantly opened the door. “Osamu…?” You looked around for anyone, anything. There wasn’t anyone there. Now you started panicking. You thought something happened to your brother when he told you he went out to grab something.

You quickly opened the app your brother set up on your phone that tracks both of your locations in case something happened to one of you. “What's he doing at that building?” you were never good at figuring out the names of places no matter what you did; however, you did recognize the picture shown when you clicked on your brother's location. It was a really tall looking building. It was a building you often passed by on your walks.

You were in a cold sweat “What could he be doing there at 2 in the morning?!”

You grabbed your sweater in a hurry and sprinted as fast you could to the building. When you reached the building you frantically looked around for your brother. “Osamu?” you called out in a loud enough tone to not disturb the people asleep at this time.

No response.

You looked at your phone to double check if you got the right location. It was. You saw your icon right next to his.

You started to look around some more when you saw him. He was on the roof just sitting there. You let out a confused but relieved sigh knowing your brother was ok. You started to speed walk inside the building and up the stairs to the roof, still confused why your brother is on a random building's roof at this time. It was now 2:55 am.

When you were close to the roof you were starting to feel more relieved. Your fatigue finally caught up to you “Geez I’m tired, he better explain himself later”.

You looked through the window and saw your brother still there just sitting there staring at his phone. You grabbed the door handle and tried to pull it open, it wouldn't budge. You knocked on the glass door trying to get your brother's attention.

No response.

“Osamu? Hellooo I know you see me.”

He didn’t even look up from his phone. You were getting confused and mad on why your brother was acting like this. When you saw his phone buzz multiple times. “An alarm?” you thought. You opened your phone to check the time “Why would he set an alarm for 3 AM?”.

You saw him get up. “Is he finally opening up this door for me? Took him long enough geez.” Your eyes widened when you saw him turning towards and climbing onto the ledge.

You panicked trying to get the glass door to open, kicking, punching, anything you could do. Tears started forming in your eyes, your vision blurring. “DAMN IT NOW'S NOT THE TIME.”

One more kick and the door shattered into pieces. You ran towards your brother.

“OSAMU” you called out. You were panting and out of breath.

“OSAMU PLEASE DON’T” the tears you were holding back finally broke free.

It felt like time stopped the second he made that jump. You were in disbelief, you couldn't believe what you just saw. Your mouth went dry, you tried to scream but nothing came out, your eyes were pouring with non-stop tears.

With shaky legs and still in shock you slowly walked towards the edge. “O…Osamu?” was all that left your mouth when you looked over the edge and gasped, you stumbled backwards. “Oh my god” your voice was shaky, hoarse and dry from crying. You couldn't believe your eyes and what you just saw.

You straightened yourself up. “No, no, no this can’t be happening. I refuse. I don’t- I’m.”. You walked down the stairs each step you took adding another layer of guilt of you not noticing this sooner.

When you reached the bottom and pushed open the entrance door you saw a tall shadow figure standing next to your brother's body.

“What…What do you think you’re doing? GET AWAY FROM HIM. WHO ARE YOU?” you knew for a fact it wasn’t any of your family members since they never seemed to care for you or Osamu when your parents were “at work”. It wouldn’t have been any of the people you were acquainted with either since they would never be awake at this building at this hour.

The tall shadowy figure started walking towards you. “Stay back. Who are you?”.

The figure let out a chuckle “No need to be so hostile towards me. I’m here to help. And to answer your question my name is Ougai Mori, i’m a surgeon around these parts.”

You were still shaky from what you witnessed. You wanted to run away but you will not leave your brother just lying there like… that. Tears welled up in your eyes again when you thought of it.

“I can help your brother, no need to worry.” the man said. “How could I trust you, we just met.” you replied. The man let out a dark chuckle “Does it look like anyone else is willing to help and succeed around here? May I remind you the more time you talk the more blood your poor brother is losing~”.

He was right. “Can you really..help him?”. The man seemed to smirk at that “Of course I can.” he replied gleefully. He picked up your brother and carried him to his office as you followed.

You were confused on why this “surgeons” office was in an alleyway and started to regret trusting him. “Dammit how’d I get tricked so easily. Am I that easily manipulated when I panic?” you thought to yourself. You grumbled to yourself at the thought of being so vulnerable.

“We’re here~” the man cooed. Your eyes darted around the area, it was dimmed and wasn’t that noticeable. In fact it didn’t look like a doctor's office at all. You stepped inside, there you saw Mori put your brother on the hospital looking bed and he got to work immediately.

You were shocked at how professional he was. He definitely wasn’t the same person he was a few seconds ago.

A few hours later you finally spoke up “Is he going to be alright?”. “Yes, he just lost a lot of blood but he’ll live.” You peaked over the man's shoulder to see your brother wrapped in bandages and an oxygen mask. You took a huge sigh of relief when you saw he was breathing.

“Thank you so much. Mori, right?” you questioned. “Congrats you got it right!” he smiled. You paused for a bit and your eyes darkened “Why did you decide to help my brother? People always have a second motive in mind” you said in a serious tone. “Ah I’m so scared.” he replied jokingly. He continued when he realized you weren’t joking around “I’m not after your money or praise if that’s what you’re thinking, in fact I would prefer it if no one knows I did this at all. So I would appreciate it if you keep your mouth shut. Alright?”. Keeping the same tone you did earlier replied, “That wasn't my question. Why did you help my brother?”. The man's interest peaked, how could you be like this when he just saved your brother's life? Most people would be crying tears of joy and thanking the doctor. A devilish smile appeared on his face that sent a shiver down your spine. “That's for me to know and you to find out.” he finally replied.

You didn’t like that reply. It wasn't clear at all. But, you decided to keep your mouth shut until your brother woke up.

Chapter Text

There was an awkward silence between you and Mori during the time you waited. There was something off about him and you were still confused about his response.

Mori soon broke that silence “So, how old are you and your brother hm?” You were quick to reply “Wouldn’t you like to know”. “I just saved your brother's life. I should at least get that much.” You sighed and gave in, you knew this man isn’t letting this go any time soon “I’m 13 and Osamu is 14”. The man was pleased with your answer.

“So what made your bro-” he was quickly interrupted when you shouted, “OSAMU YOU’RE AWAKE”.

Mori gently pushed you away to check up on his patient “I see you’re finally awake”. After a long pause your brother finally spoke up “I’m…alive?”

“Osamu..” your voice was shaky and tears welled up in your eyes once again from the shock. You were so relieved he was the only family you were close with.

“..Hey” he replied, eyes still dead but with a smile he managed to put on. He sighed and closed his eyes.

After his little rest he spoke up again “Why did you help me?” He turned towards Mori. The man let out another dark chuckle and smiled coldly “You’re gonna be my accomplice.” You blinked out of confusion hearing that. “Excuse me” Both the males ignored you, Osamu continued “So you could use me? Geez whatever, I'm in a lot of pain right now you know.”

You rolled your eyes, however you were still worried “Osamu are you alright why did you-” you were cut off by your brother “We can talk about it when this man is gone.” Mori put on a fake hurt act “Ouch, right after I saved your life really?”

“You saved my life because you wanted to use me. You people always have a second motive in mind” Mori blinked twice he looked dumb founded “You and your sibling over there are one of the same, huh?”

You and Osamu looked at each other and back at Mori “Huh?” you both said. Mori seemed to find that amusing because he let out a chuckle “You both seem to have a high sense of being highly suspicious towards people even if they just saved someone's life”. He was right. It felt like this man was reading right through you.

You were about to change the subject when your brother got up and sat next to you on a stool “So why do you need me as your ‘accomplice?’” Osamu asked. Mori’s signature smirk grew on his face “Follow me” You raised an eyebrow at his words when you both got up. You weren’t letting this guy take your brother somewhere without you.

It was a short walk there. You looked around it was a bedroom with someone lying on the bed. The person on the bed's voice sounded hoarse. You guess it was his deathbed. You heard him chanting “Kill them…kill them all..” Mori was next to him, he spoke up in a monotone voice “I hear you loud and clear” when you saw Mori pull out a scalpel and slashed the old man's neck open.

Your eyes widened in shock and you blinked a few times as you saw blood painting the walls around you and onto Mori.

You looked at your brother, you never saw him like this before. He had no expression on his face, there was no shine in his eyes. Confused as you were, you remained calm.

The man spoke up “The previous boss died due to an illness and his final will was to entrusted the boss position to me” Mori then turned around and you saw Mori’s face covered in the man's blood with a deranged look. He continued “You both are the witness to that.” he stated.

A year passed by after that incident

“Ugh, being the boss of the port mafia isn’t easy.” Mori complained. You gave him a disapproved look and responded “We have no money, information or even the trust of any of our subordinates. At this rate maybe dying isn’t so bad.” you rolled your eyes and tsked.

“That's a little harsh don’t you think.” Mori replied in a hurt tone. “By the way, why are you mixing hypertension and hypotension medication Dazai?”

Your brother finally looked up “I thought it’ll be a cozy and easy way to go out”. “Geez Osamu, why don’t you share some with the class” you disapprovingly joked.” “Haha, very funny,” your brother responded.

“Hate to break it to you Dazai but that won’t kill you. Don’t forget you are one of the witnesses to the previous boss's death. I can't let you die yet.” Osamu seemed to sigh at that. “Your reasoning to pick me to be your accomplice was a good idea, that is if I killed myself after I told everyone the previous boss’s so-called “will” and let you become boss making it one less soul you needed to shut up”.

You rolled your eyes these guys are gonna drive you crazy “Stop acting so smart dammit you both are gonna drive me nuts”

Mori seemed to laugh at that “I guess you better catch up then.” He then turned to your brother “You remind me of someone Dazai. And you know if I needed to shut you up I would have done so a long time ago.”

He continued “You know I could whip you up something that could kill you painlessly however you have to do something for me in return”

You groaned while your brother perked up “Really?” he exclaimed. Mori continued “I trust you already know of Suribachi city in the Yokohama settlement. There's been a rumor that a certain figure of the past has been sighted there. I need you to go investigate. Bring your sibling while you’re at it”

You gave up on trying to convince these two and just went along with it.

“Oh and take this contract with you it’s called the “Silver Oracle” show it to any member of the Port Mafia and they would do whatever you ask of them” Mori added on

“Who is this person of the past you’re talking about?” Osamu questioned. “Take a guess.” Mori replied.

“Ah I see-” your brother was cut off when you jumped out of your seat excited on how you put the pieces together “THE PERSON HAD TO BE THE PREVIOUS BOSS WOULDN’T IT-…ah, ahem” you sat back down.

Mori, surprised by your sudden outburst, gathered himself again “Correct! There are some people that should never rise from their graves. This will be both of your first official job. Welcome to the Port mafia”

You and Osamu blinked a few times as he gave the silver oracle to your brother as you followed. Your brother then stopped in front of the door as you bumped into him. “Ow, Osamu why’d you stop”

Your brother spoke up “Ah by the way Mori, who was the person you said I reminded you of?”

“Myself of course.” Mori responded. You gave Mori a confused and offended look. No way in hell would you want your brother to turn out like him out of everyone. Osamu seemed to look just as confused. “Whatever.” your brother responded as you both started to head out to do your first job.

Chapter Text

You and Osamu finally arrived at Suribachi city along with this old guy you didn’t know.

Curiosity got the better of you and you asked once again “Hey old guy, what's your name again?” Your brother seemed to have overheard since he let out a chuckle at your forgetfulness.

The grey haired man sighed “As I said before my name is Ryūrō Hirotsu.” You laughed nervously “Haha yea sorry. By the way, what book are you reading Osamu?” you asked as your curiosity peaked once again.

Your brother let out an amused smile “This book is called ‘The Complete Guide To Suicide’ it’s a good book! Did you know-”

“Yes I do know Osamu.” You sighed “I hear about your little fixation on suicide all the time.” Your brother seemed to appreciate that since he let out a genuine smile and chuckle at the sound of it.

The old man interrupted your conversation “You both should be more on guard. This place is dangerous. The port mafia is being targeted by three different organizations: Number 1 takasaki, second GSS, and finally an organization called ‘the sheep’”

Just then you heard your brother's phone ringing as he picked it up. “Long story short it looks like the previous boss came back, right from the pits of hell. Mhm I’ll give you a proper report when I-”

Just then a red flash zoomed by hitting your brother from behind making him crash straight into a wall.

“Huh!? What was that?! Osamu are you alright??” you said, startled. As the fog cleared up you saw a boy with ginger hair who looked similar to your age.

The ginger let out a sadistic chuckle “Oh~ This is perfect it’s just a kid the Port Mafia is really running out of subordinates to send huh?” Your brother wasn’t amused with this “I think you should know I really hate pain.”

The ginger paid no mind and continued speaking “I’ll give you two choices. Either die now or die after you give me information. Either is fine with me.” Your brother without hesitation responded with no hesitation “Kill me now then I would prefer if you make it painless.” You rolled your eyes at his statement.

“Sheesh what kind of suicidal kid are you” “You’re a kid too you know” your brother responded.

You couldn’t hear much of their conversation after the short ginger mentioned this ‘Arahabaki’ since you were getting bored of this conversation. As you walked towards them both you saw the ginger kick Osamu right across the face before stepping on him once again.

“Damn” you would be lying if you said you weren’t at least a little impressed by the damage this kid caused using just kicks. The ginger acknowledged your presence and was about to question you when your brother spoke “I see so you’re the king of the sheep. Chuuya Nakahara manipulator of gravity.”

They continued with their back and forth argument as you stood there confused on why none of them are fighting yet. That’s when you heard Hirotsu behind you “Come quietly or else”. As the ginger turned around the face of Hirotsu, you tried sneaking past him to check up on your brother.

“Oi, the hell do you think you’re doing? I can see you, you know.” You turned to see the ginger staring in your direction.

“Yea, alright keep staring big shot” that response seemed to anger him since he threw a kick right at you. “Geez be careful you almost killed me” as you jumped away a nearby wall took the impact as it broke into pieces.

“Be careful, this kid controls the gravity of anything he touches.” Osamu warned. “Thanks for the heads up Osamu” you said sarcastically.

Hirotsu got into a fighting position “Understood.” Just then the man started to have a purple glow surrounding him as you saw both him and the ginger trade blows creating a purple and red field.

As Chuuya was distracted you used the time to help your brother get up and check on his injuries. He didn’t look too beat up as he could still stand. After you were done your little check, you saw your brother walking towards Chuuya and Hirotsu.

Chuuya had Hirotsu pinned already gloating about how he won. You thought to yourself “Maybe he is just a cocky kid” and sighed. Osamu then touched the ginger's neck letting his ability do its thing.

“You have lost your ability to control gravity. I am able to nullify any abilities of others by just a single touch” Osamu explained. Just when Hirotsu was about to use his ability Chuuya kicked Dazai backwards as he used his gravity control to fly backwards leaving him uninjured.

“I’ll deal with you two annoying twerps later. Lets go Grandpa!” he said as he flyed towards Hirotsu again, kicking him multiple times before the ground shaked and shattered.

Strange black flames surrounded the area as you and Osamu got blown away. You both quickly grabbed onto the rubble as you saw it. It was the previous boss. “The old boss..” your brother exclaimed.

As the commotion died down you and Osamu got to work quickly capturing the ginger as he proved to be dangerous.

On the way back to the Port Mafia hideout Chuuya definitely didn’t make it easy dragging him there. “LET ME GO YOU OLD MAN. AND YOU, THE SUICIDAL MANIAC STOP TOUCHING ME YOUR NULLIFICATION ABILITY IS ANNOYING” he yelled.

Osamu sighed at his pointless yelling as you responded “You’re making this a lot harder for the both of us you know” The ginger glared at you “I DON’T SEE YOU DOING ANYTHING TO HELP THEM PRINCESS”

“HUH?! PRINCESS?! YOU’RE ALL BARK AND NO BITE” you glared back at him.

The rest of the way there you and Chuuya had a back and forth argument before Rimbaud took him.

As Chuuya was off your hands you and Osamu decided to head back to your room for the rest of the day.

“Oi Osamu,” you said. “Hm?” he turned to look at you.

“You gotta admit that Chuuya’s kick was pretty cool right?” your eyes seemed to glow at your statement.

“Absolutely not. Are you forgetting he almost killed me? Don’t you see the injuries I was left with?” he said as he pointed to his arm with a cast.

“Well maybe you should’ve paid more attention to your surroundings. But the way Chuuya controlled his ability, he’s definitely well trained.”

“Mhm. Speaking of abilities…” your brother looked at you. You groaned knowing where this was going.

Osamu continued “You need to learn how to get better control over yours. I can’t stop your ability every time.”

“Yea I know.” you replied in a dejected tone. With that you both decided to go to bed.

The next day, you and Osamu started to head to Mori’s office to deal with Chuuya once again.

“Ughh it’s way too early for this” you complained. “Quit whining you know Mori’s gonna kill us if we don’t show up *literally*” your brother responded to your complaint.

“Yea, yea whatever” just then you both finally arrived at Mori’s office door. “Alright now hush” your brother said as he opened the door.

When you walked in you saw the ginger being trapped in a chair held down with yellow looking boxes.

“Ah it seems like you both finally arrived.” Mori said. You and Osamu walked past Chuuya as he started yelling again “Huh!? You guys are the kids from yesterday!”

“And I see you’re lively as ever.” your brother replied in a tired tone. That statement made you chuckle a little. “The hell are you laughing at?!” the ginger said, staring at you. You ignored his question letting Mori speak.

“Having to know each other for a day. You all seem to have really hit it off, hm?” you and Osamu gave Mori an unamused look “Absolutely NOT” you both replied at the same time. Mori ignored both of your statements as he continued “I would like to speak of what happened yesterday. Rimbaud, can you please release him?”

“I don’t think that’s a wise idea. This kid is known for being quite dangerous” the man dressed in full winter clothes replied. “I have measures in place. Also you seem colder than usual. Are you alright?” Mori replied.

Rimbaud shivered “Embarrassing as it is I am freezing” as he released Chuuya. The ginger gave him a confused and bothered look “He’s cold in all that? It’s not even a little cold here. Clearly he’s just a wuss.”

“Believe it or not he’s a secondary executive here at the Port Mafia and an excellent ability user.” Mori explained.

“Mori, can we just get to business already?” your brother complained. “Ah yes of course. Chuuya, would you be interested in working with the Port Mafia?”

“HUH?!” The ginger didn’t seem to like that idea as the carpet and floor were completely destroyed the second he got up. “Well I should’ve expected that. Though our goals are still similar, give it some time to think it over. We can make a decision after we figure out what we can offer each other” Mori said.

“Did you forget what you’ve done to this city??” Chuuya shouted. “That was the previous boss’s rampage. It was he and his unstable rule that led this city to a state of chaos. However, he is no longer living. I witnessed his passing myself. That’s why if the rumor that he has returned are true we must discover the origins for the protection of our people”

“Mori.” your brother was about to continue when chuuya said something back “I heard some damn rumors about you too. They say the old boss didn’t actually die of illness as you murdered him yourself.” Mori was quick to respond to that “You’re right I murdered the previous boss”

You and Osamu let out a groaning sigh. “Why the hell did he say that? That was a horrible decision. It ruins the whole point of Osamu and I keeping our mouths shut.” you thought to yourself, you guessed Osamu thought the same.

Mori continued “I used this scalpel of mine and I blamed it on his disease and said it killed him in the end. Do you have a problem with that?”

Even Chuuya was confused “You’re serious?” Mori changed the subject “Chuuya. Would you be interested in a joint investigation? The rumor about the bosses return and this Arahabaki are clearly related. I think we can achieve a mutually beneficial relationship simply by sharing information.”

Chuuya didn’t seem pleased with that as he replied “And if I refuse?” Mori pressed a button on this controller as a voice recording started playing “Hey Chuuya…Are you there? We need your help, the Port mafia caught us. You can get us out of this right? Please come and save us like you always do-”

You raised your eyebrows, you were honestly impressed on how fast the Port Mafia worked sometimes. While Chuuya groaned with anger.

“Your group controls prime real estate in Yokohama and even owns artillery. But a group so bent on vengeance. Excluding yourself makes you just act like a bunch of children. As a fellow leader I sympathize with your circumstances. It seems like the person with the most violence in this room is you here, Chuuya.”

“I’ll consider your offer.” the ginger continued “However, you have to give me the info I want first. We’ll see how I feel afterwards.” Mori seemed to agree with that “Very well, we are investigating a rumor that the previous boss has reappeared. Dazai’s intel shows he’s been sighted 3 times in the span of 2 weeks. And in those sightings he was sighted in Suribachi city. You saw him for the fourth time.”

“The dead don’t come back to life” the ginger deadpanned. “I agree but for now we have to consider all possibilities.” Mori simply said back.

He then turned on a video of the previous boss showing up in one of the Port Mafia's most highly secured vaults. The previous boss was going on about Arahabaki of the black flames, the beasts of the gods summoning back from hell.

After the video played Mori continued his speech “Not many people have seen this or know of it. Those who have are under a gag order.” You continued “That may handle the situation here however, we aren’t sure if he gave the same info to some other place in town. If he went on about his death and how he was assassinated. I’m assuming that will cause a problem for Mori. Then the Port Mafia would be finished” you said in an unamused tone. Your brother sighed.

As Mori and Chuuya exchanged information you paid no mind as you thought it was boring. That is until Mori called you and Osamu. “I have an order for you both. Find the one responsible for bringing the boss back from the dead.” “Would I be working just with my sibling?” your brother asked.

“You won’t be working with just them. Chuuya would be there to assist you two as well.” Mori replied. “HUH?!” you all shouted at the same time.

“Why would we work with that short ginger?!” you exclaimed. “WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?! I’LL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU KID.” Chuuya yelled as Dazai butted in “STOP TALKING LIKE YOU’RE OLDER THAN US YOU’RE JUST A KID TOO. IN FACT YOU ARE SMALL YOU SHOULD DRINK MORE MILK MAYBE IT’LL HELP YOU GET BIGGER”

“HUH!? LAY OFF ABOUT MY SIZE JACKASS. I’M ONLY 15 I’M STILL GROWING!’ The ginger fought back. “That’s enough from all of you. I understand you're in no position to refuse my orders chuuya.” Mori deadpanned. You let out a sly smirk.

Mori then looked at you and Osamu “Wipe that smirk off your face you’re in no position either, same to you Dazai. If the previous boss were to be discovered that he didn’t die from an illness, you as my accomplice will be tortured as well, death for both of you will not be swift. I have multiple reasons for pairing you all together. Interviewing people will be a lot easier with an outsider, while chuuya needs to be monitored at all times. The rest..” he chuckled “That’s a secret.”

“Would you mind telling me what’s going on right now?” Chuuya complained.

Osamu rolled his eyes “Sorry, would you mind not talking to me right now. I’m busy breathing.”

They argued back and forth until Chuuya threw a kick at Osamu’s direction. You watched as your brother skillfully dodged the kick.

“I’m tired of you guys dodging my kicks why don’t you just take it you wuss’s?!” Chuuya grumbled. “Hm? Maybe it’s because we want to keep all our limbs Chuuya.” you responded.

“Tch.” was the only response you got until chuuya continued his rant “Now why don’t you answer my question and tell me what we’re doing here?!”

“We’re going to investigate. We are going to interview people who were closest to the explosion that was nearby a week ago. Similar to the one we experienced yesterday however, the previous boss wasn’t sighted at this one. We’re going to speak with the survivor from this explosion.” Osamu explained.

Just then there was another explosion in the distance. You assumed it was either blown inside the house being a complete coincidence or an attempt to kill the last survivor you were about to interview.

“This must be the new record for the most explosions in a week!” you exclaimed. “Quit talking and move your ass.” Chuuya said as he started running towards the explosion.

You and Osamu sighed at his actions and followed behind him. “This sure is one impatient kid.” you said speaking your thoughts out loud.

“I CAN STILL HEAR YOU” you hear Chuuya yell from a distance. You rolled your eyes hearing his response while Osamu replied to your previous statement “Not like you’re any better. You can’t wait five minutes without complaining.”

“...WHO ASKED YOU” you grumbled. “Mhm, yea that’s what I thought. Now why don’t you try catching up.” your brother said as he started to speed up.

“HEY THAT WAS UNFAIR.” you shouted as you started to chase after him.

When you all made it to the mansion you stared at the building which was still on fire until Chuuya spoke

“I don’t think we’re gonna get a interview here anymore”

“Woah really?” you responded sarcastically

Just then you heard a gun being reloaded

“Put your hands up and slowly turn around.” The man with the gun ordered.

“Hey~ Check this out we didn’t even have to go look for them. I didn’t want to do an interview anyway. I’ll rather just deal with the one directly responsible. Stay back, I’m gonna enjoy this.” Chuuya exclaimed.

You and Osamu both sighed again. “What a child” your brother deadpanned.

“Why’d they call back up for a bunch of kids. Are the Port Mafia really these short staffed or is this Randō guy not here” the man said while pointing his gun at Chuuya.

“Hey I got an idea. Why don’t you shoot and I retaliate by blowing your ass all the way to the next town. After that I’ll beat the shit out of the rest of your men and we call it a day.” Chuuya threatened.

“Orrr we can just trick him into giving us information idiot” you said in a unimpressed tone. You didn’t want to do anything extra that wasn’t required, making a bigger mess of things.

“Let me guess, you’re with the GSS tactical team. Aren’t you” your brother seemed to have guessed right since the man pointed another gun straight at his head.

“You guys sure love your guns huh? I don’t suppose you’ll grow a third arm and point one at me too.” you joked.

Just then another man pointed a gun at you from behind. “Of fucking course.” you sighed. You really had to jinx it didn’t you.

You watched as Chuuya walked towards the gun pointing at him touching it making the man glow red along with his weapons.

You figured he was using his ability since the man dropped the gun pointing at your brother which made a loud crashing sound breaking the ground.

The man still struggling to pull up his other gun cracked the floor along with it, still glowing red. Since he didn’t seem to give in to the power of gravity. Chuuya stepped on his head slamming it into the ground.

“THAT’LL TEACH YOU, YOU ANNOYING PRICK.” Chuuya yelled.

“Nice going Chuuya, well done! Now why don’t you take out the guy behind me too.” you said annoyed. You then noticed your brother looking for information on a communicator you assumed he swiped off the man Chuuya was busy fighting.

Chuuya grumbled as you saw him fly past you glowing red which ended in a loud crash once again. You turned too see the man down.

“You’re welcome.” he said in a complaining tone, rolling his eyes at you.

“Wow, thank you!! You’re like my knight in shining armour!!” you replied in a sarcastically surprised tone.

Chuuya was about to retaliate when Osamu interrupted.

“If you guys would quit your babbling. It turns out the guy wasn’t lying. There really is more back up coming.” Osamu stated.

Just then all three of you got surrounded by men in GSS uniforms.

“CAPTAIN” one of them exclaimed.

“Care to join your superior on the ground?” Chuuya smirked.

“FIRE. THAT SHRIMP IS CHUUYA NAKAHARA THE GRAVITY MANIPULATOR.” the man yelled.

“PFFT-” you couldn't hold back your laugh.

As all the men fired a bullet grazed both you and Osamu. When you were wiping off the blood from your cheek you heard the men gasping and looked and Chuuya. All the bullets didn’t hit him, they were all floating mid air. You were impressed by this and kept a mental note he could do that.

“Did you just call me a shrimp you asshole? I’m only 15 years old. I’M STILL GROWING DAMMIT.” he screamed the last part as he kicked all the bullets towards the men. You felt the breeze sent from that kick and blinked a few times.

You and Osamu stood there watching Chuuya. Osamus look was unimpressed while your eyes sparkled. You thought it was awesome and wanted to learn to do the same.

Your brother didn’t fail to notice this as he stared at you with a judging look.

“DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT” you yelled embarrassed you were impressed by that cocky kid.

Osamu ignored you as he noticed the gun the captain dropped on the ground and picked it up.

Your brother spoke in a monotone voice not showing any signs of emotions at all “How unfortunate for you. Does it hurt? It’s a shame it’s too late to save you. And you won’t be dead until another five minutes or so. That’s five minutes of brutal suffering, I wouldn’t be able to stand it. I could end your suffering right now by using this gun. If that’s what you want you should say yes while you can still talk.”

“Yes..shoot me” the man replied, breathing heavily.

Your brother got up from his knelt state and pointed the gun straight at him. “Alright.”

He then started shooting the man repeatedly. “This is more than you deserve..” he said in a shaky deranged voice.

Your eyes went serious and stared at your brother's direction. You knew you had to stop him or at least calm him down from his mental breakdown. You guessed everything that happened finally caught up to him at that moment.

You saw Chuuya step up to stop him but before he could do anything you stepped in front of him still facing your brother.

“The hell do you think you’re doi-” Chuuya was cut off as you grabbed the gun Osamu was holding from the side.

The gun then broke apart into nothing. “There’s no need to keep wasting bullets on a dead body-” you said in a serious tone until you hissed in pain.

“SHIT.” you held your arm as you felt like your hand was burning being ripped apart. Just then you felt a tap on your shoulder the pain ceased for a second before coming back however, not as bad as it was before.

“Thanks Osamu.” you replied.

Your brother paid no mind to your thanks as he just grabbed your arm making sure not to touch your hand and pulled out one of his spare rolls of bandages he often keeps with him.

Your hand was bloody with a few pieces of your skin gone like you removed pieces from it.

Osamu made quick work applying medicine and bandaging your hand as he is used to applying bandages by now.

A few seconds later you sighed as the medicine gave you a nice cold feeling in your hand.

“Thanks again Osamu” you said with a weak smile.

“No problem” he said while starting to walk towards the building which was on fire before.

“What the heck just happened?” Chuuya said while raising an eyebrow. “Don’t worry about it.” you responded. Chuuya took the hint of you not wanting to talk about it as he let go of the subject and started walking to the building himself.

You all walked in to see Randō complaining how cold it was.

“Why me. Why did they choose to attack me?” Randō said nervously, still shivering.

“Simple. The rumor is spreading. If an explosion of black flames happened to kill a Mori supporter like you, people would take the anger of the former boss more seriously. On the way here Chuuya flattened a soldier who was carrying instructions on how to fake the perfect black explosion.” Osamu explained.

“What’s a black explosion?” Randō asked.

Osamu continued “Apparently it’s what they're calling this black flame. It’s the result of a reaction called a sodium lamp.” Osamu crumpled the paper in his hand and threw it behind him. “Whatever it may be, it's nothing more than a cheap trick.”

“So let me get this straight. The GSS soldiers pretending to be arahabaki attacked this guy to get the Port Mafia to then turn on itself.” Chuuya questioned.

“The current GSS president is a cold hearted man. Rumor has it he has close ties with the guild, the American organization in North America.” Randō replied.

“Can you tell us what you saw in Suribachi city about arahabaki? It’s the only lead we have right now on the previous boss and his resurrection.” you asked.

“Ah yes. I remember it as clearly as day, how could I forget. I was the only one to survive all my other subordinates burned to ash. They were all engulfed by those black flames. There’s no doubt that was the god of fire. The center of the blast occurred near the center of Suribachi city, I was with fellow agents of the Port Mafia and we were on our way to battle the young members of the sheep. It was right there out of the blue when we were blown away by a black explosion. The only thing I could do was try to protect myself with my ability. Black flames, crumbling earth. It was hell itself and in the middle of the inferno there it was. It had no resemblance to the former boss. It was unrecognizable. It wasn’t even human. It was a beast. A beast of black flames. It was horrendous. Even its eyes were purgatory; everything in sight was shimmering in the extreme heat. Except the Yokohama sea. Just the sea in the distance basking gently in the moonlight. That is my most vivid memory. At that moment I heard the voice of the beast. It was a voice utterly devoid of emotion. It absolutely terrified me.” Randō ranted.

“That certainly was an interesting story. Thanks to you the mystery is finally solved.” your brother said cheerfully.

“Huh.” you and Chuuya exclaimed.

“TELL ME WHOS BEHIND IT!!” Chuuya yelled

“NO WAY” Osamu yelled back

They continued with this back and forth while you laughed.

They were arguing until you came up with an idea. “Hey! Why don’t you guys settle this at the arcade?” you said gleefully. You thought it'd be a fun way to handle the situation but you also wanted to go to the arcade you saw yesterday when you were walking to Suribachi city with Osamu.

The boys both seem to agree on that idea. As you all head to the arcade.

“COME ON YOU’RE NEVER GONNA WIN IF YOU’RE ALWAYS ON THE DEFENSIVE” Chuuya yelled

“Aw too bad for you.” Osamu replied slyly.

“AHH HANG ON A SECOND-”

Just then you witnessed Chuuya lose in the game.

“K.O” the robotic voice yelled.

“Don’t forget our little bet~ Whoever loses has to obey the winners orders like a dog.” Osamu snickered.

Chuuya slams his head onto the machine ending in a banging noise.

You bursted into laughter at the sight of that.

“DON’T YOU DARE LAUGH AT ME” Chuuya yelled back embarrassed.

That didn’t stop you as you just laughed even harder.

“Now now Chuuya. The strength of your ability is actually your downfall in fact it’s so strong you never learnt how to be cunning or even think strategically. Whether it’s video games or riddles.” Osamu explained.

“Riddles…I NEVER EVEN DONE A RIDDLE BEFORE LET ALONE SOLVED ONE!” Chuuya fought back.

“Ok then let’s have a contest. Let’s see who can identify the black flame culprit first. If you win we can call it a day!! And break off the bet we already made. But, if I win then I can be your doggy master giving you doggy commands for life.” Osamu announced.

Chuuya, not backing down from a challenge Osamu gave him, agreed. “FINE YOU GOT YOURSELF A DEAL BUDDY. I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU DON’T THINK I'M CUNNING OR STRATEGIC. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I’LL EVER SHOW YOU WHAT I HAVE UP MY SLEEVE.”

You snickered tears still in your eyes from your laugh earlier. “Hey hey let me join in too. I'm on my brother's side obviously.”

“HOW IS THAT ANY FAIR IT’S TWO AGAINST ONE HERE” Chuuya objected.

“Aw, are you saying you can’t beat us? What a sore loser.” you replied slyly.

“I’LL SHOW YOU WHO’S THE SORE LOSER AFTER I KICK YOUR ASS” Chuuya yelled back.

“Mhm yeah we’ll see.” you smirked.

Moments later you saw Chuuya put his hood up and go into a hiding position.

“What’s wrong?” your brother said as he peaked over from the other side of the arcade machine.

“Just shut up for a second ok?!” Chuuya whispered-yelled back.

“Oh!~ Look who it is. Are those your friends Chuuya? They must be part of the sheep. Look at those blue bracelets.” you said back.

“Shut. Up. Dammit.” Chuuya sighed. “Does this look like it’s a good time for them to see me?”

“Hey Chuuya Nakahara let’s get back to work boss’s orders ya know!!!” Dazai shouted, making Chuuya jolt and you laugh.

“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING-” just then the two sheep members came running over.

“Oh hey guys I’m glad you’re safe.” Chuuya said in a chill tone.

You chuckled to yourself at how he switched up so fast.

“Listen, our friends were abducted by the Port Mafia. I say we pay them back right now. Let’s attack their base and make them all suffer. Just like we always do.” the grey haired boy said.

You and Osamu stared over at Chuuya with smiles on your faces knowing how this will play out.

“Don’t worry about them. We’re actually dealing with it right now.” Chuuya responded.

“Dealing with it? ‘We’?” the grey haired boy questioned.

“Yep! We’re dealing with it! Don’t worry about it. In the meantime, why don’t you tell us what you know about Arahabaki.” you exclaimed

“Um.. who are these guys?” the grey haired boy said, confused.

“You think they wanna join us?” the pink haired girl added on.

“It’s a long story but can you guys just answer the question they asked? Please.” Chuuya asked, but it sounded more like an order.

“Sure..I guess. The most confirmed rumor so far is the one from 8 years ago, the one on how the pit in Suribachi city was formed.” the grey haired boy explained.

“Ah, that makes sense.” Osamu nodded at your statement.

“Whatever, the important thing is when are we gonna come up with a plan to get our guys back? They were abducted right across the factory road past the river.” the grey haired said angrily.

“Hold on.” Chuuya said angrily “You went past the river?! YOU WENT THERE TO STEAL BOOZE AGAIN DIDN’T YOU? YOU KNOW HOW CLOSE THAT IS TO THE PORT MAFIAS BASE. THAT'S LIKE ASKING TO BE ABDUCTED.”

“Please stop yelling at us…” the pink haired girl said anxiously.

You raised your eyebrow and thought to yourself “I thought the sheep were a menacing organization. Would they really go into enemy territory just to get some booze?” You thought it was a pathetic thing to do.

“But don’t we need to uphold our defense policy anyway? Think of it..as a teachable moment.” the grey haired said shyly

“If someone has the ability to make things right then it’s their duty to step up. I’m begging you to use your power and uphold your words and responsibility,” he continued.

You and Osamu both looked at each other with the same look. You both decided you guys didn’t like these members of the sheep very well.

“Well look at you guys, that's AWESOME!! You two are really quite interesting! It’s clear he’s the strongest one in your group by far” your brother exclaimed.

“And why don’t you let Chuuya decide when and where he uses his powers instead of trying to make him fix your mistake. Making up excuses trying to hide your mistake. Maybe don’t go into enemy territory just to steal booze.” you added on.

“WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?” the grey haired boy said enraged.

“You didn’t let them finish.” Osamu added. “They were about to explain that apart from that, Chuuya can’t go with you guys! Sorry! He still has orders from the Port Mafia he still needs to carry out!!”

“What are you talking about? That's impossible. Aren’t I right Chuuya?” the pink haired girl questioned.

“YOU’RE WITH THE PORT MAFIA?” the grey haired boy then pulled out a knife pointing it straight at you.

“Do you guys always resort to violence? Geez.” you cringed

“Oh no don’t harm my sibling!!” Osamu replied innocently. You rolled your eyes.

“Here I have an idea. Why don’t I call Mori and tell him to release the hostages.” Osamu said as he dialed in the number.

“Hey Mori! Yea, we’re making great progress on the work you ordered actually we’re almost done. Actually I wanted to ask you a favor. Is it possible you can release the sheep hostages? Yep that’s right. Immediately, unharmed. Sure, bye.” Osamu said as he ended the phone call.

Just then the grey haired sheep member's phone rang. He picked it up to hear that the sheep hostages had been released.

“Are we done now? We have work we need to finish.” Osamu stated.

“What? Chuuya doesn’t do any work for anybody in the Port Mafia.” the pink haired girl exclaimed as she ran to hug Chuuyas arm.

You sent her a glare. She smirked back.

“Come on Chuuya. Let’s go.” she said slyly looking straight at you

Your brother placed a hand on your shoulder stopping you, knowing you would’ve caused a scene in the arcade.

“I’m sorry but I'm afraid you guys have to go without me. I’ve made a bet to see who finds out first and I’m not losing that bet. Not to them.” Chuuya replied

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WE’RE DEPENDING ON YOU TO TEACH OUR ENEMY A LESSON” the male sheep member said pissed.

You felt anger already boiling up inside you. You started walking towards them as your brother put an arm in front of you to stop you in your tracks.

“Osamu let me go-”

“Lay off him already. Repeating what my sibling said, he is perfectly capable of deciding for himself how he uses his own power. Even a 5 year old kid can figure out that much. This discussion is over.” Osamu spoke in a calm tone. Though you could clearly see he was experiencing the same anger you were feeling.

“Let’s go.” Osamu said before dragging you along. As Chuuya follows behind you both.

“DON’T FORGET CHUUYA. YOU HAD NO FAMILY BEFORE THE SHEEP TOOK YOU IN. NOBODY IN THE WORLD.” the grey haired boy angrily yelled.

You sighed trying to keep calm as you kept walking.

After you all got out of the arcade you spoke up.

“Hey Chuuya.”

“What.” he replied in a annoyed tone

You paid no mind and continued “You need better friends.”

“What makes you think you can talk about them like that” he glared

“I’m not talking shit about them. I’m talking about you. I get you appreciate them or what not but that doesn’t mean you let them talk and do whatever they want”

“Since when the hell did you CARE”

You could tell he was getting pissed but you still had a point.

“I don’t have to care to know its common human decency.”

“Tch” was all you got back as you all continued walking in silence the rest of the walk.

Chapter Text

“Hey we’re splitting up here. Good luck Chuuya!~” Osamu said as he walked away

“I don’t need luck.” Chuuya glared.

“Whatever you say.” You responded as you followed your brother.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a few minutes of you both walking in silence Osamu spoke up.

“How’s your hand?”

You looked at your hand still wrapped up in the bandages your brother helped you put on and noticed it was still bleeding.

“Oh! My hand? Don’t worry about it. It’s all good.” you said in a confident tone.

“Don’t lie to me.” he said as he looked in your direction.

“Hm? What makes you think I’m lying?” you said in a playful tone.

“I’m your brother idiot, you think I can’t see right through your lies or what?” he sighed.

“You think gloves would help do less damage to your hands when you do that? Or is it more of you having horrible control over your ability.” he said, saying the last part in a teasing tone.

You ignored his immature antics and answered his question “I think gloves might help but I don’t think removing the gloves after my hands are injured will be very pleasant”

You shivered at the thought of it.

“Hm. Alright.” he replied.

Just then you both arrived at the warehouse where you saw Randō waiting for the both of you.

“Dazai. You said you found out who was behind the Arahabaki situation? Is that the truth? Or was it a lie to torment Chuuya?” Randō asked

“Both, of course.” Osamu replied nonchalantly.

Osamu continued “I said what had to be said in front of him for him to take on the bet, but it’s also true I know who’s behind it.”

“Oh? Who is it?” Randō asked as his curiosity peaked.

“It’s you Randō.” you replied for your brother as your eyes go dark.

Randō blinked a few times looking confused.

You sigh “I’ll let you explain Osamu. You know I’m not good at explaining stuff to people.”

“Fine, fine.” your brother responded as he rolled his eyes. Then directed his attention to Randō.

“You impersonated the former boss and spread rumors about Arahabaki. For how we know? You made a mistake…”

“A mistake?” Randō questioned.

“The sea.” Osamu deadpanned.

Randō’s eyes widened at his statement. While you found his reaction amusing.

“You said this when you saw Arahabaki and the black flames…‘Just the sea in the distance basking gently in the moonlight. That is my most vivid memory.’ ” Osamu said, quoting Randō’s past statement.

“I did say that. Because that’s what I saw. What about it?” Randō asked, trying to prove his innocence.

“Are you sure you want me to spoil it for you?” Osamu asked

“Tell me.” Randō replied.

“It happened close to the center of Suribachi city, and Suribachi city is a hemispherical basin valley that was carved out by the explosion.” Osamu answered Randō’s question.

“I see!” Randō said as he smiled derangedly and stood up from his seat.

“Exactly. There’s no way you could’ve seen the sea. If you were inside a giant hole roughly two kilometers wide, the sea would never be within sight, no matter how tall you stood. You described Arahabaki in great detail and accuracy meaning you did see Arahabaki. For the reason you said you saw the sea. It was because you indeed did see the sea. That’s why you made the mistake. You could’ve only seen the sea from Suribachi city before it was made to how it is now. Before the giant explosion eight years ago, at the end of the conflict.”

“You had a bet with Chuuya, didn’t you? Have you won that bet then?” Randō asked, changing the subject.

Just then you heard loud yelling from a distance outside the warehouse. You perked up out of curiosity as your brother sighed.

You heard the yelling getting louder as a person crashed through the windows kicking Randō to a whole other room in the warehouse. Randō got dragged through the floor for a while due to the impact before you heard the crashing stop.

The smoke cleared immediately due to the backlash and that’s when you both saw Chuuya.

“And now I’ve won the bet with that suicidal maniac. It was your doing Randō. You aren’t fooling me. I knew all along that you were lying.” Chuuya announced.

“Okay, stop!” your brother yelled.

“YOU! WHY ARE YOU GUYS HERE?” Chuuya yelled back.

“Just so you know, we made the announcement first. I was just in the middle of explaining the method behind the crime.” Osamu explained.

“In the middle of? So you weren’t done? Then I win.” Chuuya stated.

“There’s no way you’ve won, but I am curious on how you came to your conclusion Chuuya.” you replied.

“Huh?! Anyone could’ve figured it out from what he said. Every eyewitness so far has said they saw the former boss, but this guy said he saw Arahabaki itself.” Chuuya explained.

“There’s no such thing as gods, so you decided I did it. Is that right?” Randō retorted.

“No. The opposite. It’s because gods do exist. I know it.” Chuuya deadpanned.

“You know that Arahabaki exists?”

“Yeah. You saw it, too, didn’t you? Eight years ago. There’s no way you could’ve given such precise accounts otherwise.” Chuuya glared.

“Chuuya. Do you know where Arahabaki is right now? Tell me.” Randō demanded.

“You should tell him if you know Chuuya. Randō is going to be executed for putting the Port Mafia in danger anyway.” you told him.

“Dammit, why the hell does everyone wanna meet that thing? It doesn’t have the power to revive the dead. It doesn’t even have a personality or a mind. It’s the same as a typhoon or earthquake.” Chuuya ranted angrily.

“It doesn’t need a personality. Great destruction. Scorching the earth, staining the skies, rumbling the air. An unfathomable *thing* from the other side. That power is enough for me. Tell me Chuuya, where is this thing beyond human comprehension, this thing that burned me alive?” Randō asked once more.

Chuuya started walking towards Randō.

“I’ll tell you if you really want to know. Arahabaki is. Me.” Chuuya finally answered.

“What?” you and Osamu said confused.

Meanwhile Randō smiled at Chuuya. “I had a feeling you were.”

“I only have memories of parts of my life. Unlike you, I didn’t lose my memory from trauma. My very life has only existed since that day eight years ago. Everything before that is darkness. Somewhere in that darkness I floated aimlessly. Someone's hand broke through the bounds of that void and dragged me into the outer world. That was your hand, wasn’t it?” Chuuya questioned Randō.

Randō’s grin grew larger as Chuuya continued “Where did you find me? I followed this case to find that out. Now, tell me everything.”

“I will, of course. You’re worthy of knowing.” Randō replied.

Just then his hand started glowing yellow. You saw Chuuya put his guard up in panic and activate his power. As Randō shot a yellow bullet looking object at Chuuya. You watched as Chuuya flew past you and Osamu and hit a wall.

“Shouldn’t Chuuya’s ability have stopped him from that impact? What happened?” you questioned, looking at Chuuya's direction.

“Unlike a bullet, the subspace I control doesn’t abide by the laws of physics. The subspace is a separate world, closed off from regular space.” he explained as he dropped a yellow cube onto the ground.

Once the yellow cube touched the ground a ripple effect started beneath it. Soon the ripple effect spreaded creating a yellow atmosphere throughout the entire warehouse. A moment later, creating a yellow like box trapping you and Osamu inside.

“You cannot come in unless I invite you. Nor can you leave.” Randō continued explaining.

“You’ve left me and Osamu outside while deploying your subspace. You must know what my brother's ability is then.” you stated. “But why did you trap me in here with him? That’ll just give us an advantage.” you asked.

“Who knows what your ability is. For all I know it could be similar to your brothers over there.” Randō answered in a monotone voice.

You were about to respond when Chuuya got up and started yelling.

“SON OF A..!” Just then you saw Chuuya jump glowing red.

“I’m surprised that didn't kill you. I suppose I should’ve expected as much from Arahabaki’s incarnation.” Randō said.

Chuuya lunged towards him and threw a kick as Randō dodged. Chuuya lunged towards Randō once more when Randō summoned a yellow like box stopping Chuuya in his tracks.

“Chuuya. You can’t touch me in this space, but I can attack you as I wish.” Randō stated.

The box stopping Chuuya then broke into 4 smaller cubes shooting Chuuya into the ground. Chuuya managed to dodge them all and your eyes followed him as he ran past the box you and Osamu were trapped in trying to dodge the repetitive attacks. Chuuya escaped by hiding behind the box you were trapped in.

“Any ability that touches that suicidal maniac gets nullified. If you try to quarantine him with your subspace, you’ll make a good trench for me.” Chuuya smirked.

“True, his existence is heretical. The ultimate anti-gifted, with no peer even in the west.” Randō said smugly.

“The west?” Osamu asked.

“Still…” Randō smiled.

You looked behind you to see the previous boss with a scythe in his hands.

“OSAMU WATCH OUT.” you yelled before jumping away from the swing of the scythe.

Your brother quickly turned. However, wasn't able to dodge the scythe as quickly. He fell backwards onto the ground grunting in pain.

Your eyes widened in shock as an old memory came back to you when you saw Osamu in a near death situation.

“How’ve you been, kid?” the previous boss asked playfully.

“You look well for someone who’s been dead, boss. Or rather, former boss.” Osamu replied calmly.

You were on the opposite side of your brother near Chuuya as you hear him say “There’s no way he could’ve hurt that idiot with his special ability.”

“You’re right Chuuya. That’s because the former boss’s scythe isn’t an ability at all. It’s real.” you replied, mind still racing trying to think of how you could help your brother.

“The former boss is dead. What did you do, Randō?” Osamu asked, turning to him.

“My ability can turn corpses stored in my subspace into supernatural beings under my command. I can only control one at a time though.” Randō explained gleefully.

“That’s amazing.” Osamu said as he smiled. “You’ve been hiding that ability from the organization this whole time? Just who are you?” Osamu questioned.

“I was formerly a gifted western spy. I came to this nation to obtain a high-energy being the government of japan had supposedly discovered.” Randō explained

“....Arahabaki.” you whispered to yourself.

“My sole purpose for this plan has been to kill you, Chuuya. And to use you like I am with the former boss at the moment. If the boss was to learn what you both just have, he would attempt to have me assassinated. I regretfully ask for you both to die along with Chuuya.” Randō stated.

“As if I’ll let you kill me after the stunt you just tried pulling.” you replied

“Alright, alright calm down.” your brother said, sensing your rising anger.

“Let’s kill them. Together.” your brother then added.

“What?” you and Chuuya asked at the same time.

“I thought you wanted to die.” Chuuya stated.

“I’m starting to like working for the Port Mafia. In the outside, death is pushed away from everyday life. But in the Mafia’s world, death is an extension of a part of everyday life. I tend to think that’s more accurate. After all, to die isn’t the opposite of living. It’s merely a component of the progress of life. WIthout observing death up close, one can’t capture the full picture of what it means to live.” Osamu explained.

You understood what Osamu was saying but paid no mind.

“In other words, the suicidal maniac wants to live. Is that it?” Chuuya summarized.

“I’ve come to think it’s worth trying. That’s all.” Osamu responded.

“That won’t be necessary.” the previous boss said as he swung his scythe towards your brother.

Osamu dodged this time. As you lunged towards the former boss to strike.

“It’s time to die, kids.” the previous boss yelled.

You were about to grab the scythe when he started swinging it at your brother while he dodged.

“Dammit” you cursed. Your brother ran past you and tried nullifying Randō’s ability by touching the wall. As Randō quickly moved the wall towards Chuuya dodged it from hitting him.

The previous boss then started swinging his scythe towards you.

“You think you can hit me that easily you old hag.” you said as you dodged.

You reached for the scythe again before he swung it back and right back at you. Your eyes widened as you tried to dodge again. However you weren’t fast enough as the scythe scratched your arm and you groaned in pain.

You and him continued this back and forth of attacks.

“There you have it. You understand don’t you?” Osamu asked Chuuya.

“Don’t give me orders.” Chuuya stated as Randō started shooting at him. After a few shots Chuuya jumped towards Randō trying to land a kick.

Randō stopped him and said “Eight years ago, I tried to take you, Arahabaki, as my supernatural being. But the moment Arahabaki emerged, it decimated the surroundings. I won’t make the same mistake twice. This time, I’ll end your life thoroughly and subsume you.”

Randō then trapped Chuuya’s leg in his subspace twisting his leg broken.

Chuuya screamed in pain as Randō grabbed his leg and threw him to the ground. As he created a giant cube and threw it at Chuuya as a final blow.

Chuuya didn’t seem phased by it nor did his leg seem broken.

“What? You soaked up the impact by increasing your gravity and density?” Randō questioned.

“Hey. Want me to tell you why I was keeping my hands tucked away until now? I thought that if I ever felt like I was about to lose, that feeling might give me a reason to be fond of my humanity.” Chuuya explained.

“Magnificent! Once I subsume you, perhaps the coldness I feel will disappear.”

“COME ON CHUUYA! THE BOSS ISN’T STAYING DISTRACTED FOREVER!!” you yelled stressed.

Osamu dodged the previous boss’s swing towards the both of you as Chuuya yelled back “*You* move, Dazai, you piece of shit.”

The previous boss shoved you away as he swung towards your brother knowing what his plan is now. “THIS IS THE END, SON!!”

Just then Osamu blocked the hit with his cast and the cast shattered as a metal block was revealed.

“WHAT?!” the previous boss said in shock.

“DON’T YOU DARE FORGET ABOUT ME.” you yelled as you charged towards him.

The previous boss’s hit seemed to have boosted Osamu towards the wall.

“CHUUYA!” Osamu called out.

“COME ON, DAZAI!” Chuuya yelled back.

“I WON’T LET YOU!!” Randō yelled as he tried pulling back the wall, not allowing Osamu to touch it.

Chuuya, using his gravity powers pushed back the wall holding it in place allowing Osamu to touch the wall therefore nullifying Randō’s ability. Osamu’s ability then enveloped the area creating a white orb surrounding the area.

“It’s over. You cannot escape gravity!” Chuuya stated as he punched Randō into the ground, ending with a loud crash.

“Randō’s subspace vanishes, naturally, so will you.” You said slyly looking at the previous boss.

You then landed one final hit on him as he disappeared in pieces. Leaving the scythe on the ground. As you sighed, you were tired as hell after that fight.

You then heard a clang and saw the metal left from your brother's cast clash onto the ground which caught your attention. While Chuuya floated to the ground next to Randō.

“What are you Dazai? A shitty magician?” Chuuya asked unamused.

“Listen, do you think I’d be wearing a cast for no reason?” Osamu asked as he walked towards Chuuya and Randō while you followed.

“You’re going to tell us everything, aren’t you, Randō?” Osamu asked as you leaned against him due to your tiredness. He paid no mind as Randō replied.

“That day, eight years ago, my spy partner and I infiltrated this nation.”

“Your partner?” you tiredly questioned.

“We were here to take the high-energy being the military was supposedly hiding in the secret facility. But the moment I took the being, my partner betrayed me and our nation. He and I fought over the being and, in the end, we were discovered and confronted by the Japanese military. In order to escape, I unleashed you, the being I’d stolen, and tried to take control. In that instant you blew up the facility along with all its records, and I lost my memories. My name isn’t Randō. Someone from this nation simply misread the hat I wore, and gave the name to me.” Randō continued.

“What happened to your partner?” Osamu asked.

“I killed him with my own two hands.” there was a silent pause until Randō spoke up again.

“Chuuya. I suspect you aren’t Arahabaki itself, but a human being chosen as a vessel to keep Arahabaki under control. But you are strong, not as Arahabaki but as a human being.” Randō complimented.

“Well, thanks.” Chuuya said as he turned away.

You thought it was cute that Randō might’ve hit a soft spot of his.

“Whatever may live inside of you, you are already you. Is that not enough? All people, all creatures, live without knowing what they really are.” Randō continued.

You couldn’t argue with that one. You smiled out of pity.

It’s odd, I’m not the least bit cold.” Randō spoke as he then passed.

You and Osamu starred as Chuuya turned around.

You sighed “Osamu let’s go, I'm tired as hell.”

“Remember, you’re the one leaning against me.” he sighed back.

You just groaned in response. “You should carry me back. I don't feel like walking after that fight.”

“Absolutely not, I would rather die.”

“You would rather die than do anything Osamu.”

“Yea I would.” he said, rolling his eyes.

You gave up on him and turned to Chuuya. “Hey Chuuya. How about you?” you asked while you yawned, eyes heavy.

“What makes you think I’d-” was the last thing you heard before passing out on the spot.

“Oops..” your brother said as he failed to catch you falling.

“OOPS?! Geez you’re impossible. What now?” Chuuya asked.

“You have gravity powers, float them back or something.” Osamu answered.

“AREN’T THEY YOUR SIBLING?!” Chuuya yelled back

“Well it’s not like I can do anything with this massive injury.” He said as he pointed to his chest where the scythe slashed. “You should really be carrying the both of us. I’m being generous here.”

“Generous my ass.” Chuuya sighed as he walked towards you and touched your arm.

You then started floating while Chuuya tried getting you into a comfortable position on his back.

“What do we do about the Randō guy?” Chuuya questioned.

“I’ll call someone to get him later. Unfortunately my phone broke during the fight.” Osamu answered.

“Loser.” Chuuya snickered. “Let’s get going I don’t want to carry them for any longer than I have too”

“Pfft.”

“THE HELL ARE YOU LAUGHING AT HUH. MAY I REMIND YOU WHO GOT INJURED AND WHO DIDN’T” Chuuya yelled.

“Oh shut up Chuuya.”

The walk was silent until you woke up.

You blinked a few times, still tired trying to process where you were and what happened. After a few seconds you looked around and noticed you glowing red and Chuuya.

“Oh you’re finally awak-'' your brother was cut off when you squealed.

“AH! LET GO WHAT THE HELL.” you were embarrassed and confused. You started squirming trying to get off when Chuuya dropped you.

“GOD DAMN CALM DOWN DAMMIT” Chuuya shouted.

“WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?” you yelled back.

“YOU PASSED OUT AND YOUR BROTHER OVER THERE MADE ME CARRY YOU SINCE HE WAS INJURED.”

You blinked a few times, shocked he actually did.

“THE HELL YOU LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT FOR?” you both looked each other embarrassed.

“SORRY. I’m just confused. Thanks for..that by the way” you let out a shaky smile.

“No problem. Since you don’t need me anymore I’ll be off.” he said as he walked away.

“What the HECK just happened, Osamu?” you asked your brother when Chuuya was at a far enough distance.

“As he said. You passed out and I made him carry you back cause I’m INJURED.” he said pointing at his injuries.

“That was embarrassing as hell Osamu don’t you dare pull that stunt again.”

“Just don’t pass out again.” he said, rolling his eyes.

You tsked as you and Osamu continued walking back to the Port Mafia headquarters.

Chapter Text

You were fidgeting on the couch in your shared apartment with your brother.

Your eyes suddenly started sparkling at your discovery. “Hey Osamu, I just realized we’re kinda matching with the bandages on my hand and your arm right?!”

Osamu put down his book and glanced at your hands and his arms. “Oh! I guess you’re right.” he smiled.

“How’s your injury going by the way?” he then asked out of curiosity.

“They’re healing up just fine. I’ll probably be able to remove the bandages soon.”

“Aww you really wanna unmatch with me that bad?” he said dramatically as he put a hand to his chest as if he was hurt really badly.

You laughed at his antics. “Speaking of injuries. How are yours? Didn’t the scythe cut pretty deep?”

“Hm? It did hurt for a while but I think it’s starting to heal a bit. Just gotta change the bandages every once in a while and I'll be fine. The little stings every once in a while are extremely annoying though.” he shivered at the thought of it.

“Pffft- I can’t argue with that.”

You both sat in a comfortable silence till you yawned and soon dozed off once more.

“Geez, already?” your brother said as he pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed next to you. He then threw his jacket on top of you for you to use as a blanket. As he continued his book.

A few hours passed by and the silence was interrupted by a phone ringing.

“Hello.” Osamu said as he picked up his phone.

“Ah, Dazai.”

“Yes Mori?”

“I need you to recruit Chuuya to the Port Mafia for me. I’ll send you his location on your phone along with some of our men.”

“Why him.” Osamu complained. “What should I do to get him to join? I don’t think it’ll be very easy or fun.”

“Whatever means you see fit.” Mori chuckled darkly.

“Sure.”

“Counting on you Dazai. Bye.”

The phone then hung up.

Osamu walked towards you to grab his jacket before he went out to proceed with his mission when it wouldn’t budge off you.

“Oi let go of my jacket dumbass.”

“Ughh another job already? What does Mori want this time?” you complained, still tired.

“Mori wants us to recruit Chuuya to the Port Mafia.” Osamu said, still tugging on his jacket.

“Stop tugging on my jacket, I'll be freezing to death. Also, CHUUYA?! I thought I’ll never see him again after what happened” you whisper shouted.

“That’s MY jacket.” After a moment of you glaring at him and him staring back in disappointment, he gave in and let you keep the jacket for now.

“And by ‘what happend’ i’m assuming you mean when he carried you when you passed out? Relax, it's not even a big deal.”

You grew embarrassed just thinking about it. “THAT’S NOT WHAT I'M WORRIED ABOUT.”

“Oh? Then what is? Your pride?” he smiled smugly.

“SHUT UP. Chuuya is never letting that die down, he'll use it against me for the rest of my life if he joins the Port Mafia.” you said in a dramatic tone.

“PFFFFFFT- YOU’RE RIGHT. I’ll be sure to do it too.”

“I think you both are gonna kill me one day.” you sighed.

“Alright let's get going then. We gotta follow the boss's orders!” you said in a sarcastic cheerful tone. You got up still holding Osamu’s jacket around you like a blanket.

“Yea, yea off we go.” he replied realizing he’s not getting his jacket back for a while.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a while of walking you both finally arrive near Chuuya’s location.

“I didn’t expect Mori to send this many men to help us recruit him.” you said confused as you began to take off your brother's jacket and hand it back to him.

“They aren’t here to help us recruit Chuuya. It turns out the GSS and the sheep have formed an alliance. They’re here to fight them so *we* don’t have too.” Osamu replied while taking his jacket back from your hand.

“Ah I see-”

Just then you heard a loud crash and guns firing. Looking in the direction of the noise you see a piece of the ground crumbling and Chuuya at the bottom close to the sea.

“Looks like we found him.” you said, pointing in his direction.

You both walk towards him seeing him pull a knife out of his abdomen.

“Yikes that must’ve hurt” you winced.

“Hey, Chuuya.” your brother said. That seemed to get his attention as he turned his head towards you both.

“You look like you’re in a bind.”

“Why are you both here? Are you here to kill me, too?” Chuuya said she was shaking due to the pain from the poison and knife.

“We have a message from Mori. He wants us to officially recruit you to the Port Mafia. Plus I don’t see a point in killing you.” you replied.

“Are you trying to make me owe you by saving me?” Chuuya asked.

“I’m just here for the massacre. Mori is a pretty demanding employer. The moment we joined the Port Mafia, he put us in charge of the army.” Osamu stated.

“Two enemies, the GSS and the Sheep, have formed an alliance. Well that’s what Osamu told me. I’m assuming we have to shut them down before they become completely coordinated. Pretty sure we’ll be done by noon.” you spoke.

“That’s right. We’re killing them all.” Osamu added.

“Including the sheep?” Chuuya activated his ability while asking.

“There’s no change to our policy. That said, if someone, a peer…Someone who has information on the enemy can advise us, I wouldn’t mind changing our policy.”

Chuuya deactivated his ability after hearing that “A peer’s advice, huh?”

“Right. For example, a peer in the Port Mafia. I could trust the advice of one of my own.”

“So you want to make a deal. You devil.” Chuuya insulted

“Although, anyone who lost to me in a game is bound to get worked to the bone in this organization.” Osamu smirked.

“I’ll kill you someday.”

You laughed to yourself listening to this back and forth dispute knowing Chuuya would join the Port Mafia in the end. He was backed into a corner afterall.

“I like that expression. You look like a wild beast.” Osamu observed.

“Don’t kill the children.” Chuuya then stated.

“Sure.” Osamu then got up from sitting on a rock as you followed. “As we discussed earlier, no hurting the kids.”

You then hopped towards Chuuya as Osamu went the opposite direction.

“I’ll be right back”

“Hm? Sure.” Osamu replied.

“I see. He calculated that this would happen too. Ever since he made that stupid phone call at the arcade. He did it to create doubt about me to the Sheep. That son of a bitch. I’m game, then.” Chuuya said.

“If you’re done your rambling. I was about to ask if you needed help with your wound.” you said.

“Do you have something you want from me too? Huh?” he spat back.

“Calm down, I don’t think a dead body will be very useful working in the Port Mafia. So use this.” you said as you handed him a thick cloth to stop the bleeding.”

“...Thanks” he accepted

You took out the bandages you swiped off of Osamu’s jacket earlier and tried taping the cloth onto his wound.

Chuuya winced when you put pressure on the cloth while bandaging it, however, didn’t resist your help.

“You’ll probably get better treatment when you’re at the Port Mafia but this will have to do for now. I need to get back to the others so you have to be on your own for a bit.” you waved goodbye as you pranced away.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You were walking to the important Port Mafia meeting with Dazai, Yumeno, and Mori.

“Hey Q!!” you smiled happily.

“I’m Kyusaku!! Hey, let’s play. Come on, let’s play!!!” Q shouted happily.

“Fine, fine, when you’re older.” your brother replied.

“Hey, hey we can play now. Why not?” you smiled.

“We’re going to an important meeting- HUHHHHHH.” your brother suddenly yelled.

“HUH?! WHAT?!” you yelled back.

Your brother suddenly ran towards Chuuya who was in the distance with Kouyou as you chased after him.

“CHUUYA!!!! WHY DO YOU THINK WE RECRUITED YOU!? YOU’RE MY DOG!” Osamu yelled

“HUHHH” Chuuya yelled back angrily.

You eventually caught up and started laughing at their immature actions. You found them hilarious.

“IF I TELL YOU MY LEG IS ITCHY, YOU SCRATCH IT. IF I TELL YOU I WANT TO EAT SOBA, YOU THREATEN A SOBA SHOP OWNER INTO COMING HERE. THAT'S YOUR JOB!! SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN KOUYOU’S DIRECT COMMAND?! WORKING UP YOUR WAY UP THE LADDER!? SMOOTH SAILING?! YOU’RE YOUNG!! GO DO SOME GRUNT WORK!!” Osamu continued.

You were trying to catch your breath from laughing and finally got some words out. “HAA I CAN WATCH THIS FOREVER.”

“SHUT UP. YOU BOTH ARE ANNOYING AS HELL!! I JOINED THE PORT MAFIA OF MY OWN ACCORD! I’M NOT GONNA BE YOUR HENCHMAN OR YOUR DOG!” Chuuya argued back.

You then wiped the tear from your eye from laughing so much when you overheard Kouyou and Mori’s conversation.

“Was it really such a good idea to have these three in the same organization? Now what?” Kouyou asked Mori.

“Only a diamond can polish a diamond. Natsume, those words you told me and Fukuzawa…I’m going to find out if you were right.” Mori responded.

“Hm? Then what about the siblings then? Who would be considered the ‘diamond’?” Kouyou raised an eyebrow.

“Both of them are diamonds. However a diamond's cut and symmetry are important to consider and have a huge impact on a diamond's brilliance and sparkle. Even though they are both diamonds and have polished each other they may need another even better to polish them both, no?” Mori smiled.

“I see.” Kouyou nodded.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You remained silent for most of the meeting and simply minded your own business as everyone discussed their opinion and input to the conversation.

The meeting went overall well as some changes were added and made.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Can we play now?!” Q asked excitedly.

“Of course but after that you have to go train with Osamu for a bit.” you smiled softly.

“Hey!! Silly hat guy!!” Q said as they ran towards Chuuya.

“Q! Wait a sec, u shouldn't go running off like that!” you said as you chased them.

You caught up with Q and saw them tugging on Chuuya’s coat.

“Hello! Can you play with us silly hat guy?!” Q smiled widely.

“Huh? What? Sure.” he responded and looked around for who was supposed to take care of this kid. That’s when he spotted you.

“Oi. Aren’t you supposed to be looking after them?” he asked as he raised an eyebrow.

You laughed nervously “Yea…”

“You never took care of a kid before, have you?” Chuuya teased.

“HUH!? I CAN TOTALLY DO IT.”

“If this is how you do it you’re really horrible at it, how'd you let them get away from you that easily.”

“If you’re so good, why don’t you do it?” you crossed your arms.

“I’ll take on that challenge. What would I get if I win?” he smirked.

“Something to brag about.” you said, rolling your eyes.

“I’ll take it.” He then turned to Q and smiled. “What would you like to play?”

“Let’s draw each other!!” Q said excitedly.

“I’m not against it.” you smile back.

“Same here.” Chuuya added.

“Yay!! Let’s go!!” Q said as they marched towards their room.

Once you arrived with them both you realized there were already crayons and paper on the table.

“Is that what we’re gonna draw with Q?” you ask.

“Yep!!” Q smiled.

You and Chuuya both sat down across from Q from the table. “I’m assuming we’re drawing you, Q?”

“Hmm…What if you draw silly hat guy, silly hat guy draws me and I draw you?”

“I have a name you know.” Chuuya sighed.

“Alright I’ll draw the silly hat guy.” you smile.

“YOU TOO?!” Chuuya yelled.

You then turned to Chuuya, analyzing his features and seeing which is the easiest way to draw him. As he did the same for Q.

You must’ve been staring for a while because Chuuya waved his hand to snap you out of your trance.

“Hm?” you blinked a few times.

“I get that I’m awesome and all but you don’t have to stare that much.” he smirked.

“I suddenly have the urge to kick your ass.” you glared.

“You didn’t deny it.”

“...” you raised your fist getting ready to punch as Q stopped you “Hey! No fighting we’re supposed to be drawing.”

“Yea, yea alright” you said, raising your hands in defeat. You sighed and got started drawing Chuuya on your paper.

A few minutes pass by and you hear Q, “Done!!” they yelled happily.

You quickly scribbled out the last little details and said you were done as well with a smile. You then saw Chuuya grumbling in frustration.

“What’s the problem? Can’t draw?” you said smugly.

“Shut up. Whatever. I’m done too.” he said angrily.

“Alright let’s all trade drawings!!” Q said.

You then all passed your drawings around.

You looked at Q’s drawing and it had you on one side and Chuuya on the other.

“Aww this is so cute!” you awed. “But I thought you were only drawing me?”

“I wanted to draw the silly hat guy too cause you looked like you were having fun drawing him” Q pouted.

“Huh?! I was!?”

“Yea you were. Drawing the silly hat guy is fun, isn’t it?” Q said as their eyes sparkled.

“Yea sure you could say that.” you chuckle nervously. “But drawing anyone is fun right?”

You then heard chuckling coming from beside you.

“Did you like drawing me THAT much?”

He was teasing you.

“I DID NOT.” you then took the drawing you made from him. “People like you don’t deserve to see my drawings.”

“Oh really?” He was quick to snatch the drawing back.

“HEY.”

“Gotta give it to you. This isn’t half bad.” he said genuinely.

You didn’t get compliments everyday so that seemed to fluster you.

“PFFT” Chuuya tried holding back his laugh.

“SHUT UP CHUUYA.” you yelled as you smack his head.

“OI WHAT WAS THAT FOR. I COMPLIMENTED YOU.”

“YEA AND THEN LAUGHED AT ME”

“Hey! I wanna see the drawing you made!!” Q said

“Oh yea sure” you smiled.

“WOAHH!! THIS IS SO COOL” Q wowed

“Thank you Q!!”

Q then picked up Chuuya’s drawings and their expression fell.

“Hm? Let me see…” you said.

You bursted out into a mess of laughter.

“CHUUYA. BHJHAJHAHAHA THAT’S HILARIOUS.”

“WHAT THE HELL IS SO FUNNY HUH. JUST BECAUSE YOUR DRAWINGS BETTER DOESN'T MEAN I LOST THE CHALLENGE.” he yelled back.

“Can you draw me instead?” Q said tugging on your shirt.

“PFFT Yes of course I can!!”

“HUHHHH.” Chuuya fell into a spiral of despair.

After you finished the drawing of Q and handed it to them they seemed to like it as they ran towards you to give you a hug. Your playdate ended there as you and Chuuya left their room to go to yours and end the day.

“I’m so tired.” you complained

“I won that challenge.” Chuuya stated

“No way in hell did you win. Didn’t you see Q’s face when they saw your drawing?” you snickered remembering the moment.

“THAT WAS ONE THING.”

“And I got nothing wrong therefore I won” you chuckled evilly.

“TCH WHATEVER.” Chuuya said as he stormed off to his room.

When you entered yours you saw Osamu relaxing on the couch buried in his book. He then directed his attention to you.

“How was the playdate?”

“It was fun! Q got Chuuya to join as well.” you smiled.

“Chuuya?! Thank god I didn’t go then.” your brother sighed thankfully.

“Yea, yea. But to be honest it wasn’t THAT bad. Chuuya is fun to laugh at.”

“Don’t you dare go all lovey dovey on me.” Osamu cringed.

“I’M NOT? I just met the guy.”

“I will never forget all the ways you complimented his ability and skills.” Osamu stared back

“You have to admit his fighting skills are really good c'mon. Everyone can see that much.”

“Whatever you say.” your brother said judgingly.

You stuck your tongue out at him “I’m going to sleep now, it's been a long day.” you said as you waved goodbye and yawned.

“Alright, goodnight!”

“Night!” you replied as you went to your room and started to doze off.

Chapter Text

You were woken up by the sound of your phone next to you ringing. Getting up from your comfortable bed you groaned.

“Hello..” you answered tiredly

“Hey~ Good morning to you too.” you heard a man say cheerfully.

“Morning…Mori?”

“The one and only. I need you to meet me in my office.”

“Sure.” you responded as you hung up.

You got up in your tired state and started getting ready faster than usual knowing Mori wasn’t the patient type.

As you were leaving you called out to your brother “Hey, Mori called me to his office so i’ll be right back.”

“Blegh Mori. Alright see ya.” Osamu responded.

You waved towards him as you walked out and closed the door behind you.

You sigh as you start heading towards Mori’s office, not very excited for what type of mission he’s gonna give this time. You stepped into the elevator leading into Mori’s office on the Top floor.

You were about to step out when you heard guns being cocked. You looked up from the ground to see two guards pointing their guns at you.

“Lower your weapons.” you demanded.

The guards, recognizing you, lowered their weapon at your command.

You ignored them as you continued your way to Mori’s office. You were greeted with more guards opening the door for you at the entrance. You were starting to get annoyed with the amount of guards there were around Mori’s office.

As you step into Mori’s office you notice Chuuya there as well. You raised an eyebrow.

“Why’d you call us here?” you asked as you turned to Mori.

“I’m so glad you asked! Now remind me, what was your ability again?” Mori questioned with an innocent smile on his face.

You gave a confused look to him. “Is this information needed for a mission?”

“No. This is for something else.” Mori answered.

“If that’s the case.” you sighed. “My ability allows me to control the atoms or particles of things around me. I can recreate things. For example: fire, if there are carbon dioxide, water, nitrogen, and oxygen particles along with a fuel around me. I can also turn anything I touch into nothing by breaking it into particles.”

“Oh? What are the after effects of using your ability?” Mori continued.

You didn’t like the amount of information Mori wanted to get out of you. However, you knew there was no escape from his questions, so you gave in.

“My ability backlashes at me, basically breaking apart myself, usually the area touching the subject along with the so-called subject I am touching while using my ability. Recreating fire can also burn me if I’m not focused well enough while creating it.”

“So what you’re saying is that you have very limited control over your ability?” Mori asked, raising an eyebrow with a smile.

“Yes…” you responded unsure of what he was going to use this information for.

“Perfect!” he exclaimed. “Now then, I would like you to start training with Chuuya. He has great martial arts skills and the strength to back it up as you’ve seen before. This will improve your hand to hand combat skills giving you more chance to survive on the battlefield without using your ability. That would prevent you from injuring yourself with your own ability.” Mori stated.

You were about to speak against it as you were cut off almost immediately.

“However. Your ability is indeed powerful and we both know you would have to use it at some point during your time here. It’ll be a great asset to the Port Mafia. That is why you would also be doing ability training with your brother. His nullification ability can stop you, preventing major injuries to yourself while training.”

“And if I refuse?” you questioned.

“You are in no place to refuse my orders.” he glared.

“Okay.” was all you responded with before turning towards the elevator.

“One more thing.” Mori continued, as you stopped in your tracks turning back around. “Your training will start today. I’ll let you and Chuuya decide the time you start and end each day. However, training must be one hour minimum. I will also inform Dazai about his part in your ability training as well. Your ability training will also be one hour minimum. You will do this daily.”

You nodded as you turned around and started walking towards the elevator once again.

“Oi.” you heard from behind you.

“What is it now?” you asked, getting annoyed.

“Training will start at 5pm sharp.” Chuuya stated.

“Alright.” you agreed not wanting to start an argument.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You walked back to your shared apartment to see Osamu once again sitting on the couch reading his book.

“Osamu..” you groaned.

“What happened in the meeting?” he asked, turning towards you.

“Mori wants me to train in combat and ability training daily. For at least one hour each.” you complained angrily.

“Ah. He called me saying he wanted me to train your ability. He told me you’ll tell me the details.”

“I don’t want to do this stupid training I’m perfectly fine with the skills I have now.” you argued back stubbornly.

“This was bound to happen eventually. Your hands always end up a bleeding mess whenever you use your ability this would probably benefit you.”

“Mori probably made you my ability trainer because he knew you’d say that.” you sighed. “Whatever, we have to set a time for my ability training. My combat training with Chuuya is at 5pm today. So anytime other than that.”

“Chuuya?! Good luck with him, he's going to be nagging you for a whole hour. As for our time, let’s do 7pm, giving you an hour break in the middle.” Osamu answered.

“I’m fine with that.” you nodded.

“Nice! Then it’s settled.” Osamu said as he yawned. “Now I’m gonna take a nap. Have fun!”

You rolled your eyes as you walked out of the apartment.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You were walking around the Port Mafia’s headquarters as you saw Higuchi. She noticed you staring and waved. You waved back with a smile and walked towards her.

“Hey Higuchi! We haven’t spoken in a while!”

“Hey it’s nice to see you too!” she said, nudging you playfully.

You smiled. “Are you doing anything at the moment? I don’t really have anything to do right now so I'm really bored.”

“Well then today’s your lucky day! Turns out I don’t have anything to do since the artillery deliveries were delayed again.” she shrugged.

“You should probably file a complaint for that.” you chuckled. “Anyway, let’s go out to a cafe or something! It’ll be fun!” you smile.

Higuchi beamed. “I know the perfect cafe to go to!!”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!”

You both started walking out of the Port Mafia headquarters and headed towards the cafe Higuchi recommended.

“We’re almost there!” Higuchi exclaimed excitedly.

You beamed as you saw the fancy looking cafe in the distance. “Oh my god it’s so pretty!”

You both stepped in the cozy lit cafe. Your senses were filled with the smell of the brewing of coffee along with pastries baking in the oven. It was a lovely atmosphere.

“Hello! May I help you both?” a waitress asked as she walked towards you with a platter in her hand wearing a neatly kept uniform.

“Ah. Yes we would like a table of two please.” you said with a gentle smile as Higuchi was busy admiring the atmosphere of the cafe.

“Of course! Right this way.” your waitress replied as she signaled you both to follow her to your table.

“Higuchi?” you said as you turned around to see Higuchi still fawning over the interior. It made you smile.

“Huh? Oh of course. Let’s go.” Higuchi said as she composed herself.

You both sat down at your table.

You were looking through the menu and found a few items that caught your eye. You decided to order one drink and one pastry to try.

“What are you gonna get Higuchi?”

“Hmm everything looks so good. Maybe something savory or anything that takes a while to eat or drink since I wanna stay here for a while.”

“Good idea! I really like the atmosphere here. I don't mind staying an hour or two.”

Just then the waitress came by to take your orders.

“Have you two decided on what you would like to order today?” she asked cheerfully.

“I would like an Espresso and a Bagel please.” Higuchi replied.

You then put in your order. “I would like a hot chocolate and a dozen macarons.” and watched as your waitress noted it down in her notepad.

“I’ll get your order to you both as soon as it’s ready.” she said as she walked towards the counter to give the barista and baker your orders.

While waiting, you were both in a peaceful silence still enjoying the smell of the cafe while listening to the calm music playing in the cafe along with the birds chirping outside in the spring weather.

“I think I might become a regular at this cafe.” you commented.

“Me as well. It’s such a nice place to unwind from work.” Higuchi agreed.

You smiled.

“Hello! Your orders.” your waitress said as she placed your orders on the table.

“Thank you so much!” you and Higuchi replied.

“This looks really good!” you exclaimed. “Want to try a macaron?” you asked Higuchi.

“Of course!” she said as she took one and bit into it. Her expression seemed to have lit up, almost like she was glowing.

“By your expression I’m guessing the macaron was really good?” you snicker.

“Mhm!”

You then took one yourself and ate it. “Woah, this really is good!” you beamed.

“Told ya so! This food is amazing!”

You both take a sip out of your drinks and let out a sigh. “I can do this forever.”

Your peacefulness was suddenly disturbed hearing a loud bang noise. “Higuchi you stay here as I check that noise out. If anything happens here, call me.”

“Be safe.” she waved.

You walked out of the cafe to check out what made the loud sound. You looked around to see a crowd in a certain area. That doesn’t look good, you thought to yourself.

The commotion got louder the closer you got. You finally had a good look to see a small truck flipped onto its side. What happened here? You wondered.

“THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?” you heard a yell coming from behind you.

You turn around to see Chuuya about to jump right at the truck. “CHUUYA?”

Just a moment later soldiers with guns showed up pointing straight at the truck. That startled the crowd as you saw them rush away. “Shit.” you cursed.

You jumped towards Chuuya. “What’s going on?”

“Do you know about the missing artillery that was supposed to be delivered to the Port mafia that never showed up?” he asked.

“Yea, I heard from Higuchi.”

“Well this truck on its side is the truck that is carrying that artillery. I’m guessing an enemy organization wanted it for themselves and hijacked the truck.”

“I see. I’m assuming we’re not gonna get out of this without a fight.” you said looking around seeing the amount of soldiers surrounding you.

“You just realized?” Chuuya replied sarcastically.

“You know I would prefer to not fight and cause a bigger commotion.”

“Or is it because you can’t fight?” Chuuya smirked.

You had to admit. He really knew how to piss you off. “Okay. Then let's fight.”

You knew you couldn’t use your ability without Osamu here to stop you from harming yourself and only knew the basic combat skills so you’ll be no match against a gun. Multiple in this case. You settled on letting Chuuya fight as you gathered as much information as you could.

“Chuuya, cover me.” was all you said as you jumped towards the soldiers.

“DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO.” he yelled as he jumped towards you. Just then the soldiers started shooting assuming you were a threat.

Chuuya was quick to react. He stopped all the bullets from hitting the both of you with his ability as you ran towards one of the men. You swiftly swiped one of their radios off their belt and listened in for any useful information.

The man pointed his gun straight at you ready to shoot until you saw him fall to the ground. “A bullet to the head, huh?”

You looked towards the direction of the bullet to see Higuchi pointing her gun straight at the enemy.

The radio started up. “Port Mafia have been spotted. Retreat immediately before their backup arrives. Leave the artillery truck and get out of there now.”

“CHUUYA!” you shouted.

“THE HELL YOU WANT?”

“Don’t kill the enemies, we need a few if not more to gather information about their organization. They're planning to retreat so we won’t have another chance.”

As you spoke he knocked out a few of the soldiers. You assumed Higuchi already called backup due to the message from the radio.

As Port Mafia men showed up you ordered them to bring back the unconscious soldiers back to headquarters to interrogate and to get the artillery from the truck and deliver it back as well.

“I know why the artillery got delayed now.” Higuchi sighed.

“I’m assuming that it was a small organization. I had never seen them anywhere before.” you stated. “Ah. Right the pastries.” you quickly ran back to the cafe to grab yours and run back to the scene.

You, Higuchi and Chuuya all had to get back to headquarters anyway so you decided to get one of your subordinates to drive you all.

“Good to see you, Tori!” you waved. Tori was a good friend of yours and one of your subordinates.

“It’s good to see you as well.” she responded.

Tori sat in the driver's seat as Higuchi sat in the passenger seat. Leaving you and Chuuya at the back.

“Before we start driving, would you like a macaron Tori?” you spoke.

“Don’t mind if I do.” she smiled as she took one from the box.

As much as you hated to admit it, Chuuya did stop a bunch of bullets from hitting you so you decided offering him macarons should make it equal between you two.

“How about you Chuuya?”

“Sure.” he said as he took one from the box.

You swore you saw his face light up for a second and chuckled to yourself.

“These are really good. Can I get another?”

He’s really calm compared to earlier. Maybe sweets calm him down, you thought to yourself.

“Go for it.” you smiled.

The rest of the car ride was silent with you and Chuuya munching on the last few macarons in the back of the car.

“We’ve arrived.” Tori cooed.

“Thanks for the ride!” you replied as you got out of the car.

“Thanks.” Chuuya added

You looked at the time on your phone. “4:00pm already? That fight took longer than I thought.”

“Hey Chuuya. Wanna hang out for an hour before we start training?”

“I don’t see why not. We’ll see each other in the end anyway.” he replied.

“Alright then! Let’s head inside, we can sit on the couch in the lobby.”

You started walking towards the lobby as he followed behind you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you both got comfortable on the couch there was an awkward silence.

“What do you wanna do?” Chuuya said, breaking the silence.

“Hm. What about Truth or Dare?” you thought out loud.

“I don’t see why not.” he shrugged.

“Truth or Dare?” you ask.

“Dare.”

“I dare you to….” you looked around you for some inspiration when you saw someone eating a breakfast sandwich. “..to eat a raw egg.” you smile.

“HUH!? Whatever, I ain’t backing down from a challenge. Where are we gonna find a raw egg?”

“The kitchen!” you smirked.

“Where exactly is that…”

“Follow me. It’s not that far from here. I think.” you whispered the last part.

“YOU THINK?”

“I’m not that good with directions. Especially not in a place as big as here.” you sigh.

“Whatever, let's just walk.”

A few minutes passed as you followed Chuuya trying to find the kitchen. Turns out he wasn’t good at directions either because you both got lost.

“So would you like to explain where we are Chuuya?” you asked.

He ignored your teasing. It pushed you to continue your antics.

“C’mon Chuuya I would love to know.” you said smugly.

“Shut up.” he said angrily. You started to laugh.

“Here, let's just sit in this hallway and do something else. It’s not like wandering around aimlessly would be very fun or helpful. Plus we still have around 45 minutes before training.”

“Yea, yea I’m fine with whatever.” he responded.

You both sat down on the soft carpet on the floor and leaned against a wall.

“Hey Chuuya.”

“Hm?” he hummed.

“How do you feel about the sheep at the moment?”

It was silent between you both for a while.

“Why ask that out of all things?” he glared.

“Curiosity. Nothing more, if you want you can ask me questions in return.” you answered.

“...Okay.” he sighed as he shuffled into a more comfortable position. “The sheep backstabbing me doesn’t mean I regret caring about them, they were good people. I did, however, acknowledge what you said.”

“You gotta be more specific than that. What did I say?”

“Damn it you’re unbelievable! You told the sheep…” he paused for a second and grumbled. “...you told them to let me use my ability how I want and stop depending on me so much. Then after we left the arcade you said I needed better friends and how it was gonna be better for me.” he said emphasizing 'for me'.

“Ah. I remember that. I’m glad you took it to heart.” you said. However, you were confused on how Chuuya remembered it so clearly. He didn’t seem like the person to care so much at first.

“You also attempted to patch me up the day you and your brother tried to recruit me to the Port Mafia.”

“I remember that.” you smiled.

“What the hell am I saying!?” he cursed to himself, he then changed the subject. “I don’t understand what someone like you is doing in the Port Mafia in the first place.”

Your eyes widened in confusion. You remained silent for a few seconds. “It’s not like I’m an angel sent from heaven, Chuuya.”

There was a silent pause.

“Why is that?” Chuuya spoke.

“...I didn’t expect that question.” you chuckled nervously.

“You said I could ask you a question in return if I wanted to.”

“Yea, but I didn’t expect that.” you mumbled. “I don’t know where to start.” you said laughing it off.

“Ok. Then let me be more specific. What were you doing before you joined the Port Mafia?”

“Before? Well I was wandering around town, usually going on walks. I never really went to school though. I never saw the point and the people who were there weren’t that interesting. In my spare time I would usually try experimenting with my ability but it never really ended well.”

“How did you discover your ability?” Chuuya asked.

“This better be the last question.” you sighed. “I discovered my ability when I picked this object up. I don’t remember what it was. But whatever it was, it made me feel a strong enough emotion. Enough to activate my ability that is. It's unfortunately gone now. I accidently shattered it into millions of particles, almost like it disintegrated in my hands.” You pause recalling the memory. “In fact it was also the same day my brother discovered his. He touched my shoulder checking if I was alright after seeing the unknown object and his ability activated, stopping me from harming my hands any farther. That’s all.”

“I see.” Chuuya stated as he checked the time. “It’s 4:45. We should probably head off to our training room.” he said as he got up from his sitting position and offered his hand to help you up.

“Yea, we probably should.” you said as you accepted his hand.

You brushed the dust off you as you headed towards the training room with Chuuya hoping not to get lost again.

Chapter Text

You and Chuuya both wandered until Chuuya spotted the training room. “Hey I think it’s over there.” he said as he pointed in the direction of a metal door.

Walking over to the direction of the training room, you took a peek inside. You saw a few people inside training their skills, some were practicing their aim with weapons while others were checking their strength.

“I didn’t expect there to be people in there.” you commented.

“Well it is one of the biggest training rooms in this facility, I wouldn’t be so surprised.” Chuuya replied.

“Then wouldn’t it be wise to go to one of the training rooms with no people in it or something. We probably shouldn’t get in their way.”

“It’s a training room. They don’t care. Stop stalling for time and get your ass in here.” he said while grabbing your arm to drag you in the room.

You groaned but followed anyway.

“What moves do you know?” Chuuya asked as he started stretching.

“Uhm. Ah. Not much?” you said while copying the stretches he was doing.

He raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean ‘not much’?”

“I don’t know. I usually just did enough so that I was able to stay alive. Nothing really more.” you shrugged.

“God you’re gonna be a hassle to train.” he groaned while pinching the bridge of his nose. “Here, let's try this. You’ll come at me and I’ll see what level you’re at.”

“Alright.” you said shifting into an offensive stance.

“Whenever you’re ready.” he said in a defensive stance.

You charged at him and attempted to land a punch. He dodged. You then quickly switched the attack to a kick. This time Chuuya blocked. The back and forth went on for a few minutes.

You were beginning to get impatient and started doing your moves more recklessly and desperately. Chuuya didn’t fail to notice that. Still skillfully dodging and blocking your moves, he took this chance to grab your leg during your kick and flinged his leg straight towards your head.

You stumbled when he grabbed your leg, losing your balance. “Shit.” you cursed. You quickly recovered from your momentary shock and noticed his leg going straight for your head. You tried blocking it from hitting you with your arm however, your balance was still off. You ended up falling from the impact of his kick.

“You’re worse than I expected.”

You didn’t bother to look up from your fallen state. He probably has his smug smirk displayed on his face.

He kneeled down to your height. You saw his face. He wasn’t laughing or concerned for you. He looked confused. You stared back, also confused.

“How did you survive this long in the Port Mafia? Your skills are terrible and you fell to the ground the second I threw one kick.”

“Mori usually assigned extra guards for me so I didn’t have to fight.” you admitted glaring at him.

“Ok then let’s start off with the basics.” he said as he offered a hand.

You accepted it. “Yea, alright.”

“This is how you throw a proper punch and kick.” he said as he demonstrated it with ease. “To keep you from losing your balance we can go over to the pillar over there.” he said pointing to a nearby pillar.

“It’s ok I don’t need a pillar to do these. I only lost balance because you took my leg.” You took a breath to relax yourself as you tried to do the moves Chuuya taught you.

“You got those quickly.” he said with his signature smirk on his face. “Let’s try something harder.” he then demonstrated a kick. This kick had a spin to it and even made a small gust of wind blow by. “Give it a go.”

You then tried out the kick he demonstrated. “Make sure you keep your leg straighter near the end otherwise the kick will be significantly weaker than it’s supposed to be.” he advised. You tried again with his advice added to your move.

“There we go. Far from perfect but you got the idea of it. Now let’s try doing a series of them.” He demonstrated the same kick however with a punching bag this time. He then spinned the opposite direction and did the same kick with his other leg backwards.

You decided to try and add your own twist to this one to make it more comfortable for yourself. Instead of using your other leg to kick the punching bag you switched legs mid spin and turned yourself to an angle that allowed your dominant leg to kick again.

Chuuya looked impressed for a second. “That was smart. I never thought of that.”

You looked at the time. “5:30. Time passed by quickly.”

“Let’s continue.” You and Chuuya both trained. Chuuya showing you how to fight properly and you practice it. This went on until 5:45.

By now you were really tired.

“I teached you the basics. Now try coming at me again.” Chuuya said.

“Alright.” you said confidently.

This time was different. Chuuya didn’t hold back as he did earlier nor did he just dodge and block. This time he fought back. You had trouble keeping up with his swift attacks. Blocking, dodging, attacking back. You could only do one at a time. The second you blocked an attack another one came straight after.

You looked around searching for an opening or strategy while still trying to keep up with his repetitive attacks. You noticed the pillar and got an idea. You used the force of Chuuyas' kick and boosted yourself towards the pillar. Chuuya jumped after you about to land another kick as you used the pillar's side to stop his leg and grabbed it. You quickly used this opening to strike. He grabbed your arm successfully avoiding your ambush and threw a punch straight to your stomach. Your back hit the pillar as you groaned in discomfort.

“You got closer this time. But you’re so very far from good.” he smirked.

“Whatever.” you said crossing your arms.

“It’s 6:05 now. I’m gonna go rest so I have enough energy for ability training.” you said yawning.

“I’ll buy you a cookie or something as a congrats for surviving.” he nudged you playfully.

“Yea, yea sure.” you stared back disapprovingly.

You both then walked to a nearby coffee shop. It had a calm aura to it along with classy music playing in the background.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Two cookies please.” Chuuya ordered.

“Coming right up sir.” the man said as he started getting the cookies ready. He handed the paper bag with the cookies to Chuuya as he paid.

Walking out of the shop, Chuuya handed you one of the cookies. “Here you go.”

“Thanks Mr. Best teacher in the world.” you said sarcastically.

“I JUST BOUGHT YOU A SNACK AND THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT ME?? I TAKE IT BACK HAND OVER THE COOKIE.”

You laughed as you ran away taking bites of the cookie while an angry ginger was busy chasing after you.

You finished the baked good the second Chuuya caught up with you. You stuck your tongue out playfully at him. He glared.

“Remind me to never do anything nice for you again.” he said unamused by your silly antics.

“Cmonn.” you whined. “Don’t be like that.” you snickered.

“I’m gonna kill you one day.”

You started laughing.

“I’M NOT KIDDING.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second you got back to the Port Mafia headquarters you waved goodbye to Chuuya as you went back to your apartment.

“Osamu I’m back.” you called out closing the door behind you.

“How’d training go?” he asked.

“Tiring. But Chuuya bought me a cookie in the end so it was worth it.”

“Look at you being won over by a cookie.” he sneered.

You gave him an unamused look. “I really hate you sometimes. I was not ‘won over by a cookie’.” you replied, rolling your eyes.

“Your training starts in 26 minutes. You sure took your time getting that cookie.”

“Whatever, I’m taking a nap, my body hurts. Wake me up when it does start.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Wakey Wakey.”

“Fuck off” you glared.

“Nope.” Osamu said, dragging you off the couch plopping you onto the floor.

“You sure love annoying me don’t you.” you said, groaning.

“No, of course not.” he replied cheerfully. “Now it's time to start training.”

You look around to see a bunch of balls laid out on a table they were all about the size of a tennis ball.

“What you’re gonna do is try and use your ability to break these balls a certain way. For example this one!” You watched as your brother picked up a ball from the table.

“Try breaking this one apart whole without injuring your hands.”

You attempted doing so.

The ball broke into nothing, however your hand still took the damage. It lasted for 5 seconds until Osamu touched your shoulder and his ability activated.

“Next time it’ll be 10 seconds. Then 15. So forth. You’ll try stopping your ability in those seconds. I believe in you!” he said cheerfully with a smile.

“Huh? You can’t do that. My hands would be completely ruined by the end of this.” you said fearfully.

“Well you better find out how to stop it then. Hm?”

You carefully took the next ball and repeated what you did before. This time the severe ache in your hands lasted 10 seconds.

“Osamu enough. Don’t do that.” you glared with tears welling up in your eyes.

“Here I’ll give you just 10 seconds from now on then no more no less.” he smiled.

You tsked and grabbed another ball. You repeated what you did once more. You took a sharp breath and calmed down until you eventually felt the pain go away agonizingly slowly before your brother tapped your shoulders once more.

“I kinda did it this time.” you said filled with more determination.

“See. You’ll get this in no time.” he smiled gently.

“Yea, maybe I will.” you smile back.

A couple more attempts went on. The more balls that disappeared off the table the better you stopped your ability from breaking apart your hands.

On the 29th attempt you finally fully succeeded stopping your ability from destroying your hands.

“OSAMU DID YOU SEE THAT. I FINALLY DID IT.” you celebrated out loud.

“Hooray!!!” he said with a smile while clapping. “Now let’s do that a few more times.”

You listened as you continued breaking apart the balls. Stopping your ability every couple attempts. It getting harder now. You were afraid you over exert yourself.

The more you attempted the worse you got at stopping your ability.

“Try taking a 5 minute break.” your brother recommended.

“Alright…” you said confused on why your ability was acting like this.

Osamu then used these 5 minutes to start bandaging your already really roughed up hands.

When he was done you started to try again.

You took a deep breath and grabbed the ball. It then almost disintegrated the ball and the bandages your brother wrapped almost immediately usually it takes 2-3 seconds to break apart one. This shocked you as you felt your ability getting stronger. Your brother noticed this but still waited those 10 seconds.

“Shit! Osamu this feels different. Please stop my ability!” you panicked.

You couldn’t take those agonizing seconds anymore as you grabbed his hand to stop your ability yourself. A sigh of relief left your mouth.

“It’ll be 15 seconds next time.” was all he responded with.

“That’s unfair Osamu.” you angrily glared at him.

He ignored you. “From what I see your ability got significantly stronger the second you stopped it once. Do you understand why?”

“No I don’t. I’m just as confused as you are.” you responded.

“I’m not confused.”

“What?”

“I feel like the reason your ability did that was because your ability was like leveling up. You passed level 1 so this may be level 2. Your ability is stronger than it looks at first glance huh?”

“So you’re guessing?” you asked unsatisfied.

“Since when have my guesses been wrong?” he smiled.

Just then the clock rang. It was 8pm.

“Finally. Training is over.” you sighed tiredly.

Osamu then silently offered to help you bandage your hand that broke apart the bandages he wrapped previously by nudging your arm slightly with bandages in his other hand.

You lended him your hand as he started to bandage it. He was more gentle this time.

“See ya Osamu. I’m gonna get ready to sleep. I'm tired from all that training.” you said as you waved goodbye.

“Good night! Looking forward to training your ability again.” he said, waving back.

You entered your room and started showering. As you finished your routine you were about to lay in bed to fall asleep as you heard your phone ring. You groaned tiredly and went to see who could be calling at this time.

Chapter Text

Your phone continuously rang. You saw the caller id and read it in your mind.

“Chuuya Nakahara” you stared at your ringing phone in a mix of anger and confusion on why he would be calling you when you’re so tired already.

“Hello?” you finally said, picking up the phone.

“Finally you pick up.” you hear a displeased voice say from the other end.

“Can’t hear you, you’re breaking up sorry.” you were way too tired to argue over the phone.

“Don’t you dare hang up!” Chuuya whisper-yelled to avoid any disturbance to anyone sleeping at this hour.

“Then hurry up before I do. Get to the point, why’d you call me?”

“I wanted to say I have a mission tomorrow and it’ll take up most of my day so instead of training you I’m just gonna take you along with me.”

“Why not just skip?”

“And let Mori find out? Hell no.”

You sighed angrily. “If the mission is gonna take all day then how do I do my training with Osamu?”

“I said *most* of the day so you’ll still have time. Just do it anytime that isn’t the mission.”

“What do you expect me to do on this mission if you’ve only trained me for one day?”

“Just mimic the moves I do, you seem to be pretty good at it. Plus putting you on the battlefield would be an easy way to see what you need to work on before anything else.”

“Okay, good point. What is the mission?”

“The mission I've been assigned was to retrieve stolen gems and other goods the Port Mafia sells for money. Seems like some low-life thugs stole a cart. Possibly the same ones we ran into the other day with the stolen artillery. They’ve stolen a huge amount of it so I’m sure they’ll be on their guard this time. I’ll tell you the rest in person tomorrow morning. Exactly at 8:30am at my place, don’t be late.”

“Got it. Goodnight now.”

“G’night.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your first alarm went off. It was 6:30am.

You tried to fall back asleep and wait for your second alarm but you couldn’t fall back asleep, you groaned in frustration. “I can’t even get decent sleep around here. Might as well just get ready.”

After getting ready, packing everything you need. You set off to Chuuyas apartment.

You searched for the sign that had his name on it and knocked on his wooden door. It made a satisfying clicking noise as it opened on its own.

Why’d he leave his door open and unlocked like this? You thought to yourself.

As you walk in, you see the answer to your question lying on Chuuya’s couch. Of course it was him. You smile disappointingly.

“Good morning to you too, Osamu.”

“Good morning!!!” you hear him reply cheerfully.

“Why’d you pick the lock?” you said with an eyebrow raised from your brother's unpredictable actions.

“Good question. Why did YOU not tell me you have a mission with Chuuya today?”

He was pouting like a child who didn’t get the toy they wanted.

“Osamu. Please.” you sighed disappointingly. “It’s not like I’m five years old.”

“That's not the point here.” he said, brushing you off.

“Then what is it?”

Chuuya then interrupted the both of you, opening his bedroom door.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU BOTH DOING INSIDE MY APARTMENT?!”

“Oh shit…” you whisper, walking towards Osamu letting him explain the situation. “Osamu, how the hell do you plan to explain you picked his lock and was just laying on his couch until I just walked in.” you whispered over to him.

“I got this!” Osamu whispered back.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU BOTH WHISPERING ABOUT!? ANSWER MY QUESTION.”

“You left the door unlocked.” Osamu said, smiling innocently.

The whole room could hear the face palm you just did. “Oh my god.” you said disappointingly under your breath.

“YOU REALLY THINK I'M THAT MUCH OF AN IDIOT?!”

“Run.” was all your brother said until he bolted out of the room.

“WHAT. OSAMU. DON’T YOU DARE.”

You tried rushing after him until Chuuya kicked the door closed and stood in front of it.

“Now. You’re gonna explain yourself.”

You felt Chuuya glaring right through you.

You could hear a pin drop in the silence that followed.

“Well?” He sounded more angry this time.

You had a feeling that Osamu was having the best time of his life listening to this right on the other side of that door, snickering.

When you were about to make up an excuse to get you out of this situation you hear your alarm ring. 8:30am.

“Chuuya, look at the time, it's 8:30. We should get going for the mission now yea?” you gleamed at how perfect the timing was.

Shoving Chuuyas small stature out of the way, you walked through the door to see your brother chuckling at his evil scheme he just pulled.

As he noticed your angry glare. He quickly started running. You ran quickly after him grabbing his coat and knocking him onto the ground.

“OSAMU. THAT STUNT YOU PULLED WAS NOT FUNNY.”

Before Osamu could explain himself you both heard familiar footsteps coming from behind the both of you. You both turn around to be met by furious glaring eyes.

Chuuya was quick to act as he grabbed Dazais collar with one hand and yours with his other.

“NOW BOTH OF YOU TALK BEFORE I KICK BOTH YOUR ASSES TO NEXT TOWN.”

Osamu was the first to speak. “They picked your lock.” he said with both of his hands up like he was surrendering with one of the biggest smirks on his face.

“YOU LIAR.” you quickly yelled back.

Chuuya knew exactly who picked the lock, knowing you and Osamu. Dropping your collar, Chuuya used his strength and ability to throw your brother to the opposite end of the hallway.

“CHUUYA!” you shouted. Both impressed about Chuuyas strength and worried for Osamu.

You then saw your brother get up from the floor and brushed it off like it was a regular day. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to understand how he does that.” you sighed.

“Quit your rambling, we're late for the mission.” Chuuya said, practically dragging you to the location where you both were supposed to meet up with the rest of your squad for the mission.

“Your piece of shit of a brother has a talent for wasting my damn time.”

“I heard that.” you hear Osamu say from behind.

“WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FOLLOWING US?!”

“Since your mission takes up most of the day I figured it’ll be easier to get that one hour of training in while at it. Better than letting Mori find out I skipped. I get shivers just thinking about it.”

You let out a quiet chuckle.

Osamu noticed. “What’s so funny? I know you'd rather do anything than meet up with Mori too.” he said, rolling his eyes.

“You’re damn right. But that’s not what’s funny.”

“Then what is?” he asked curiously.

“What’s funny is that Chuuya said almost the exact same thing on our phone call. No wonder Mori said ‘Looks like you both really hit it off’. You already have something in common.”

“DON’T YOU DARE COMPARE ME TO A BASTARD LIKE HIM.” you hear both of them yell at the same time.

“CALM DOWN! I was just saying!!” you replied calmly brushing off their childish actions.

You all were too busy chatting, but more like yelling when it came to Chuuya and Osamu until a voice interrupted.

“Ah. I didn’t expect you both to accompany Chuuya on this mission as well.”

You looked over to see one of the Port Mafia employees in a black suit. They didn’t really stand out to you anymore. You then noticed the gun this specific employee was holding. It wasn’t a gun that was given out to the lower ranks of the Port Mafia, nor did you recognize it as Port Mafia artillery either.

As Chuuya explained why you both were here, you whispered to Osamu. “Hey.” he leaned over to see what you wanted to talk about.

“That gun he’s holding doesn’t belong to the Port Mafia.”

Osamu looked over to the gun in question. “You’re right. Let’s keep an eye on him.”

“Stop being so secretive and get your ass in here.” you hear Chuuya say.

“Yea, yea.” you replied walking through the door the ‘guard’ was keeping an eye on before.

“Now that I think about it.” Osamu spoke. “He didn’t ask for our ID’s either. We aren’t executives or anyone important in the Port Mafia at the moment. How did he know us?”

“You’re right. Luckily I put a tracker on him when we were entering the room.” you snicker.

“Oh? You did? You won’t believe what I did.” he sang.

“Hm?”

He then pulled out two earbuds from his pocket and handed one to you. “What’s this for?” you ask, taking it from his hand and inserting it into your ear.

“I took the liberty of putting a listening device on him.” he smiled cheerfully.

“PFFT. Shouldn’t have expected less.” you nudged him playfully.

Chuuya was still walking ignoring your silly conversation with Osamu. All he heard was similar to two wicked birds chirping.

“Quit chattering and get in the car.” Chuuya finally spoke.

“We’re heading straight there?” you asked.

“Hell no. That’ll be a death wish. We’re going to do an ambush.” Chuuya responded.

“I see.” you said getting into the back with Osamu, Chuuya sitting on the passenger seat next to the driver.

The second you all got in the car it started moving immediately. “What’s the rush?”

“We need to get there as soon as possible to make sure they don’t bring the goods to a whole new location.”

You then heard a radio static coming from your earbud. Osamu must’ve turned it on, you guessed.

There was a sudden voice that started speaking through the earbud. “Hurry up and move the gems and goods now! The operation to get Chuuya as a hostage is cancelled. The siblings are on the way right now! Move your asses!”

You quickly pull out your tracker and notice the red dot moving quickly. Must be in a car. You show your brother this. He nodded and started speaking to the driver.

“I need you to change the location to the building behind the pawn shops now.”

“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING!?” Chuuya yelled.

“The target is moving locations.” you stated, still looking at the red dot trying to see where they could be going next.

“How can you be so sure?” Chuuya glared.

“Tell the driver to hurry up and do it. Aren’t you the leader of this operation anyway?” Osamu spoke.

“Fine. But if this causes the mission to fail I’ll be sure to throw you BOTH farther than across a hallway this time.” Chuuya then turned to the driver. “Change the location to where they want to go.”

There was an immediate location change on the GPS and the driver made a quick turn to head that way.

Chuuya then spoke looking straight at you. “Remember, there are no ‘extra guards’ to help protect you. You’re on your own so don’t cause such a mess. If you need help just stick to where I can see you.”

“Got it.” you responded still keeping an eye on the tracker while listening in with the audio.

“For our ability training, just do whatever I say for now. I still don’t know what exactly ‘level 2’ means.” Osamu stated.

“Me neither. I think it’ll be wise.”

“We reached your destination.” the driver then spoke.

You all quickly got out of the car and looked around. You see a line of black cars lined up behind the one you were in and armed Port Mafia members getting out. “That’s our backup squad.” Chuuya said. “The area you blockheads want is over there.” he said pointing to the direction of a building.

Osamu started hopping down the hill down the building. You followed.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Chuuya said, referring to you.

“To the building?” you said, raising an eyebrow at his stupid question.

“Don’t forget that I still have to train you. I don’t care what happens to that bag of bandages while you’re here.”

You couldn’t help but laugh at that nickname he gave to your brother.

“Let’s go. Grab on.” he said, sticking out his hand for you.

“What’s this for?” you asked, accepting his hand.

You then started to have that familiar red glowing aura around you and felt Chuuya jumping up into the sky dragging you along with him.

You yelped in surprise and sudden force and ended up grabbing onto him tighter for a bit before relaxing yourself.

“What? Scared?” Chuuya teased.

“A warning would’ve been great.” you glared.

He ignored your glare. “Now, which floor do you wanna go to?” he asked with a smirk.

You took a look at your tracker. “Shit this thing doesn’t tell the height of the target. Useless piece of junk.”

“WHERE’D YOU GET THAT?!” Chuuya yelled.

“Oops. Did I forget to tell you? I put a tracker on the target.”

“THIS INFORMATION WOULD’VE BEEN USEFUL YOU KNOW. I hate how you and that piece of shit are always so secretive.” he tsked.

You felt pretty bad. “I’ll try to keep you updated next time.”

“Thanks. Now which floor?”

“Do you think you can get on the roof and plunge all the way down with your ability? It’s not like that building is massive, plus I think it’s quicker than stairs.”

“Of course I can. But are you really sure this is wise?”

“Nope I’m going with my gut here.”

“Of course you are.” he sighed. “Alright then I’ll land us on the roof.”

A few minutes pass by and you both reach the roof of the building your target was in.

You walked around until you reached the red dot on your tracker and moved a meter away from it. “Chuuya. Go all the way from here to the first floor. Try and make the hole easy to access.”

“Whatever you say.”

He then jumped up towards the sky. It gave you enough time to move to the opposite side of the impact Chuuya was about to cause. You then watched him falling at an incredibly high speed towards the building. The impact caused something similar to an earthquake. It made your ear ring for a few seconds and the ground shake.

The second the shaking stopped and the smoke cleared you heard a huge amount of gun shots. You guessed it was towards Chuuya. However, knowing him, bullets don’t have an effect on him.

You were walking towards the hole Chuuya created, ready to find the man who was disguised as a Port Mafia member until he came to you. Knocking the door that leads to the roof down with a gun pointing straight at you.

“Nice to meet you too…” you said sarcastically reaching for your gun.

“HOW’D YOU KNOW WHO I WAS?! WHAT ARE YOU!?” He looked panicked.

“It was your mistake. I don’t have to tell you anything.” you said reloading your gun.

Another figure then stepped through the doorway.

“OSAMU?” you said shocked. “HOW’D YOU EVEN GET UP HERE?”

“I could ask the exact same thing to you. I just used the elevator.” he shrugged.

“Isn’t the elevator out of order due to the impact?” you asked confused.

“I used the elevator *before* the impact sherlock.”

“SHUT UP. BOTH OF YOU.” He then pointed his gun directly at your brother. You took this chance to aim and shoot his hand which held the gun. He screamed in agony.

Osamu then lunged towards the man landing a hit on him making him lose his balance and fall to the ground.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! YOU MONSTERS.” the man said, holding his hand trying to stop the bleeding.

At that moment his radio went off. “Number 23 respond immediately. What is going on?” You looked over to him and pointed your gun towards him.

“Are you number 23?”

“Yes I am.” he said in a shaky voice.

Osamu took the radio from him and handed it to you. “If he says anything wrong, destroy this with your ability instantly. This can be the first part of your ability training for today.” Then he directed his attention towards the man still on the ground. “Say one thing wrong and I’ll shoot. No secret codes. No hidden meanings.”

“Pass your gun. I think it’s wise to focus on just destroying that radio just in case.”

You handed your gun to your brother and the radio in your hand played.

There was static. “Number 23? Are you there?”

You pressed the button that allowed the man to speak.

He took a shaky breath. “PLEASE SEND BACKUP. THE SIBLINGS ARE HERE.”

You destroyed the radio. It disintegrated immediately and you felt a similar burn in your hand. You hissed.

At the same time Osamu shot the man to his death.

“Damn it!” you winced.

“Calm down.” you hear your brother whisper calmly. “Focus only on your hand and relax. If you do just that the pain would stop. Calm your heart rate and stabilize your breathing.”

You eventually got it to stop after a few minutes. A sigh of relief left your mouth and you had no strength left, you fell over and layed down.

“You did it!!” you hear your brother cheer. “The mission is still not over, we still gotta retrieve the gems and goods. Time to get up.” There was a pause. “Hey! Why don’t we destroy ‘Number 23’ while we’re at it?”

“With my ability?” you questioned tiredly.

“What else?” he asked back.

You groaned.

“Don’t be like that. It's part of our training.” he said lightheartedly.

“Easy for you to say. You’re not the one doing it.” You sighed, getting up and walking towards the man.

“Alright ‘number 23’.” you say putting a hand on the man's shoulder.

“Remember, remain calm. As long as you are, I believe you can do it. Try connecting with your ability instead of thinking of it as something that destroys you and everything around it. That way this training can end faster for the both of us.”

You remained calm this time. You stopped it once after a few minutes. Your new goal is to stop it in a few seconds.

You took calm breaths and activated your ability. The man's corpse was gone yet you still remained calm, trying your best to stop your ability before it gets worse than it already does. You thought of it as someone befriending a lion instead of taming one. This was more effective. Allowing you to stop your ability almost immediately.

When your ability stopped you realized you were practically holding your breath the entire time. You started breathing calmly and looked in front of you. You saw a puddle of blood left by the man and your hands. Your hands look unreal to you. Almost like they were plastic fake. “*What?*”

“See what’d I tell you! I knew you’d get it. You’re a fast learner afterall.”

“Osamu.”

“Hm?”

“My hands…healed?”

“Oh? Let me see.” he leaned over to see your hands. “Oh!”

He looked just as shocked as you are. “Out of all the possibilities I thought of. I never thought your hand would be able to just self heal just like that. After all this time. Why now?” He paused. “How were you able to tame the beast so quickly?”

It hit you. This wasn’t one of your brother's normal questions. It wasn't a rhetorical question or a question he’ll ask just so you answer it yourself instead of him explaining it to you. It was a genuine question. This was one of the very few times he was confused.

“I changed my thinking. Instead of acting like it was a beast to tame, I wanted to befriend it. I guess it gave me a chance.” you explained.

Osamu’s eyes widened. But it wasn’t due to shock. It was in fascination.

“Alright, we should get down to Chuuya now. I still have to train with him too.” you said.

You then heard another loud bang and an earthquake-like feeling along with a familiar ginger following right after.

“THE HELL DO YOU BOTH THINK YOU’RE DOING. IT’S LIKE A WAR DOWN THERE.”

“Or Chuuya can come up to us, either way works.” you continued.

Chuuya landed on the roof once more. “Alright we’re gonna see how you do in this battle. No ability usage, just hand to hand combat with the enemies unless they have an ability as well. But from what I’ve seen none of them have an ability so far, so you should be fine.”

“Alright then. Take me down there.” you say grabbing onto his hand.

“What am I? Your personal elevator?” he complained.

“Not my fault half the stairs are destroyed and the elevator is out of service.” you shrugged.

“YOU’RE THE ONE WHO TOLD ME TO DO THAT.”

You ignored his accusation and jumped into the building using the hole from the roof dragging Chuuya along with you by the hand.

“ARE YOU INSANE?! THERE’S STILL ENEMIES FIRING.” he yelled as you were both falling.

He quickly activated his ability stopping both of you from falling any farther and started falling more slowly. “I can’t believe you pulled a stupid stunt like that.”

You, however, were laughing. You found it a very fun experience.

“WHAT’S SO FUNNY. Should’ve dropped you when I had the chance.” he said showing his disapproval of your action.

“Hm. You still can, you know we are just half way down.”

You felt his grip on your hand tighten. “Don’t do shit that stupid.”

Just then you heard guns firing. Bullets were coming straight for you. You close your eyes bracing for impact, until you realize you didn’t feel any pain from the bullets. You open your eyes to see the bullets floating in midair. “Oh yea. I forgot you could do that.” you smile nervously.

“I told you I’ll help if you stick to where I can see you.”

“Thank you!” you said with a soft smile.

You swear you saw him freeze up for a moment before he pulled you towards him so he could kick the bullets back to the enemies without kicking you in the process. Now you were the flustered one.

You both then landed on the ground and guns started shooting even more. You were both still distracted from the previous situation and having to hold his hand so the bullets don’t hit you wasn't helping.

Chuuya was kicking the bullets back towards the enemies. You quickly gathered yourself and did the same. Chuuya’s ability assisted you at launching the bullets back towards the enemy, piercing them all.

The second all the enemies in sight were gone you and Chuuya quickly let go of eachother and made eye contact.

Your expression was blank for a few seconds until you bursted into a fit of laughter. “ARE YOU REALLY FLUSTERED OVER A THANK YOU?”

“I KNOW YOU’RE NOT TALKING. THIS IS THE THANKS I GET FOR HELPING YOU NOT DIE?” he yelled back still with his completely obvious rose flush over his cheeks.

You couldn’t help but do the same still in a fit of laughter. This moment was such an ironic wholesome memory.

Just you and Chuuya on enemy territory teasing and laughing with each other right after destroying the enemy.

That moment was soon interrupted.

“Are you two flirting?”

You look over to see your brother with the most disgusted and shocked expression plastered on his face while he was in a taken aback pose. He looked almost as if all color was drained out of his body.

You couldn’t help but laugh more at his goofy expression and pose, while Chuuya was yelling at him.

“DOES IT LOOK LIKE WE’RE FLIRTING?!”

“YES. VERY MUCH SO. GET YOUR NASTY GINGER COOTIES AWAY FROM THEM.”

“WHAT!”

“GINGER COOTIES?” you were on the brink of collapsing. You were just training your ability and fighting off enemies. And now you're in a huge fit of laughter. Your energy was almost completely out.

You managed to calm yourself down from your laughing state and looked over to see Chuuya and your brother still going back and forth with their childish quarrel.

“C’mon! We should go see if the Port Mafia men retrieved the stolen goods. They might need help.” you said waving your hand to get their attention.

“SHUT UP!” Chuuya yelled back, still walking towards you anyway to continue the mission.

Osamu followed after him as you all headed to the front of the building to check out the progress of the retrieved goods.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Everything is going just as planned.” Higuchi spoke.

“Glad to hear it!” you replied. “Alright we’re going back to headquarters now-” you say, turning towards Osamu and Chuuya.

You were met with them arguing over what happened once again. You sighed knowing this might happen and simply decided dragging Chuuya into the car and letting your brother follow was the best idea.

“Alright in we go!” you say shoving Chuuya into the back with Osamu as you got into the passenger seat.

You turned on the child safety locks on the car to make sure Chuuya and your brother don’t do anything stupid while in the back seat and spoke to the driver. “Back to headquarters.” The driver drove off with no questions asked.

“Why do you get the front seat?” your brother complained.

“Cause I wasn’t the one arguing like children.” you say teasingly.

The ride was fairly silent the rest of the way back. You felt it was off Chuuya wasn’t causing a scene but you guessed he was just tired from the long mission.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“We’re here” said the driver.

“Alright, thank you.” you say, unlocking the child safety locks and getting out of the car.

“Let’s go back to our apartments” you say as the car dropping you all off drove off.

“Good idea. I’m beat.” you hear your brother say while yawning.

“You coming too, Chuuya?” you ask.

“Yea, yea.” he replies.

You all walk back to your apartments in a comfortable silence with the occasional ID verification to get through doors and elevators.

“Goodnight.” you all say before heading into your apartments.

You and Osamu decided to relax on the couch for a while as you both weren’t tired enough to sleep yet.

“So what was the thing with Chuuya?” Osamu asked.

“Well that sure was straight to the point.” you grumbled tiredly. “To be honest. I think he’s a pretty nice person. Even though he’s usually just angry and loud all the time. But if you look at his feelings and intentions, he’s not bad at all.”

“He’s just as confusing as the way he acts.” he paused for a second. “Do you like him?”

“OSAMU!” you shouted.

“WHAT?” he shouted back innocently.

“You know. I’m really not sure.” you said embarrassed. “WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS?!’

“Maybe because I’m your BROTHER.” he said, rolling his eyes.

“I’m going to sleep.” you say, rolling your eyes back as you laid half your body weight down on him.

“DON’T USE ME AS A PILLOW!” he yelled as he tried pushing you off to no avail. After a few minutes of struggling he eventually gave up and you both dozed off.

Chapter Text

“Wake up!!!”

Osamu groaned and put his hand on his head. “This yelling is gonna give me a headache.”

He looked beside him to see you still sleeping on him. “Get up.” he sighed. “I’m so close to shoving you off.”

You finally awoke from your peaceful slumber. “Osamu?”

“Who else? Now get off of me. Half of my body is asleep thanks to you.” He said, slightly nudging you off.

“WAKE UP DAMMIT!!” you both hear from outside your apartment.

“WE’RE COMING GEEZ.” you yell back to the door. “Osamu go get the door.” you said shuffling off of him, shutting your eyes about to go back to sleep.”

Osamu sighed and walked towards the door. “Hello- CHUUYA?!” he exclaimed. Hearing your brother's loud statement you transferred your attention over to the door.

“Good morning to you too.” you hear Chuuya complain.

You lazily started to get up and walked over to the door. When you reached your destination you leaned over tiredly on Osamu and rubbed your eyes.

“You need to stop using me as your personal portable cushion.” Osamu said spitefully. Though, you paid no mind.

“Why are you here Chuuya?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Since you both accompanied me on the mission yesterday I guess the boss wanted to see you both with me.” Chuuya replied.

You and Osamu exhaled bitterly. “Not Mori…” you both spoke at the same time.

“Yes, Mori.” Chuuya said imitating both of your childish acts. “Now c’mon we don’t have all day.”

Not wanting to start an argument and disobey Mori’s orders, you started walking towards the elevator, dragging Osamu along with you knowing he’d probably run off somewhere if you didn’t.

“HEY! DON’T JUST WALK PAST ME.” Chuuya spat.

“Then keep up.” you said playfully.

“I’m gonna make you pay for that snarky comment.” he threatened.

As you all reached Mori’s office on the top floor of the Port Mafia building you were met with a cold stare from the man himself.

“I brought the report.” Chuuya stated calmly as he brought the papers to Mori’s desk.

“Thank you Chuuya.” Mori said, grabbing the papers and quickly skimming through them until something specific peaked his interest.

“Agent number 23 missing? You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that…” Mori directed his attention straight to you and Osamu. “Would you?”

A chill went down your spine. You hated this man.

“Oops you caught us!” Osamu raised his hands in defeat.

“How’d you do it? I’m sure you understand it is unusual for a whole body to go completely missing without a trace along with just a mere puddle of blood on the ground.” he said, not once letting his cold glare falter.

Osamu looked at you, checking to see if you wanted to tell him yourself. Seeing you not respond he filled in for you. “They managed to completely destroy number 23’s body with their ability.”

“Really now?” Mori said with a fake shocked expression laid out on his face. “How impressive. How did you manage to control your ability in a short amount of time?”

“We don’t know the answer to that question either.” You responded.

“You’re taking ‘quick learner’ to a whole other level. It’s really piquing my curiosity. Were you always this naturally gifted? Why’d it take so long to take control of your own ability until now?”

You were overwhelmed with questions and gulped. “I…” you paused trying to come up with an answer. “I don’t know. I guess I never actually got professionally trained until now.”

“So you’re telling me only two days was enough to train your ability? How strange.” There was a short silence that followed. Everyone's attention soon went back to Mori as he started speaking in a sly corrupted voice.

“It was fear. Wasn’t it?”

“What?” you asked wearily.

“Knowing your brothers…methods. You most likely got scared into learning your ability. Unlike before this was a time where you were forced to learn how to control your ability otherwise there would’ve been consequences. Am I correct?”

You didn’t respond.

Mori smirked for just a second until he went back to his straight face. “As for Chuuya and your physical combat training. I don’t understand what made you get that so quickly. I don’t believe it was ‘fear’ this time. So what was it?”

You quickly glanced at Chuuya and back to Mori. “Ah-”

Chuuya, sensing your discomfort, cut you off. “It’s most likely because I’m a great teacher and mentor.” he chuckled proudly.

Your gaze softened for a moment at Chuuya’s kind act. Thanks Chuuya. You said in your head. That’s when you remembered what Chuuya said to you, “If you need help just stick to where I can see you.” It looked like he truly kept his word to you. You couldn’t help but laugh a bit.

“Aww, am I really that funny?” Chuuya teased.

Mori seemed to be observing the both of you. “I’m sure you are great, Chuuya.”

Mori let out a quick sigh and went straight to the point. “I feel as if you both are getting distracted. If you keep this up I might have to forbid you from going on missions together in the future.” he said in a joking tone, laughing it off.

You all knew he was being completely serious despite his tone.

“Why don’t you and Chuuya step out for a second while I talk to Dazai.” Mori said, leaning back in his chair. Though it sounded more like a demand.

“Sure..” you said hesitantly.

“Yea.” Chuuya responded.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you both left the room Mori spoke.

“Dazai.”

“Yes?” Osamu replied curiously.

“Keep an eye on both of them for me. Make sure they don’t get too close to each other. Otherwise my plan may break into pieces. We wouldn’t want that now, would we?” he glared.

“May I ask why?”

Mori plastered a fake innocent smile on his face. “Love is such a horrid thing. It gets in the way. It’s nothing but a nuisance. I’m sure you understand what I’m trying to say.” He smirked. “Now let’s say it does happen. I might even have to go as far as disposing one of them.”

Osamu glared, hearing the last part. Though he didn’t respond to Mori. He turned around and started walking towards the door.

“Don’t be such a brat about this order.” Osamu heard Mori call from behind.

He made sure to turn his head enough to side eye Mori before walking out. He was soon met with both you and Chuuya waiting for him.

“That was quick. What did he want to tell you so secretly?” You ask out of curiosity.

He put on a quick cheery facade. “Don’t worry! Mori just wanted to tell me about the next important Port Mafia mission!!”

Such an obvious lie. You however, didn’t push any further knowing he probably wouldn’t tell you when you’re right outside his office anyway. So you decided to play along.

“Ah~ And he didn’t even think to tell me? The most wonderful member in the Port Mafia?” you said dramatically.

“Wonderful is a bit of a stretch isn’t it.” Chuuya sneered from beside you.

“You’re in no place to talk, Mr Chihuahua.”

“WHAT.” he looked taken aback by your comment. You laughed.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN CHIHUAHUA?”

Chuuya was cut off by Osamu. “Now now both of you, let’s continue this outside.”

“Don’t act all high and mighty.” you scoffed, crossing your arms in retortion.

You all started to head out, knowing you all didn’t have anything to do today except for training.

“It seems like I forgot something in our apartment. Wanna come get it with me?” Osamu said, looking at you.

“Yea of course-” You were cut off by a sudden voice.

“Don’t go all chit-chatting without me again.” Chuuya glared.

The memory of you promising you won’t stay so secretive anymore with Chuuya came back to you at that moment. He kept his word. You should keep yours.

“You can come too if you’d like Chuuya.”

He scoffed. “Yea, thanks.”

Osamu on the other hand, sighed. “Alright.”

As you all reached you and your brothers shared apartment Osamu unlocked the door and went inside. You and Chuuya followed his footsteps.

When the door closed Chuuya was the first to speak.

“Did you really forget something or did you come here because it was more enclosed to whisper secrets?”

“Both actually!” Osamu answered, grabbing his phone from the coffee table. “As for what Mori told me. I feel as if it’s best only my sibling knows.”

Chuuya tsked. “What’s so important that only one of us gets to know?”

You interrupted them before a fight started breaking out in your neatly organized apartment. “Sorry Osamu. I told Chuuya I’ll stop being so secretive.”

“You’re making this so much harder for me, you know.” Osamu glared.

You instinctively got into a slightly defensive position, though it was practically unnoticeable. Osamu still managed to observe it. He took a breath to calm himself. “Okay that’s fine. Let’s head out wherever you want to go for now.” He stated, as he started heading towards the door.

You felt he was going to be a little more secretive to you from now on. You hated that thought.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Did you decide where you guys want to go?” Osamu turned around to ask.

“Since it’s spring why don’t we go see the cherry blossoms bloom. It’s always a pretty sight.” you suggested.

“I don’t see why not.” Chuuya shrugged.

“Alright let’s go to the nearest cherry blossom gazing then.” Osamu said.

“Woo!” you celebrated. “I know there's one nearby here. I saw it on one of my walks once.”

You started leading the way as they followed behind you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you started walking a little more up ahead, proudly showing off your direction skills, Chuuya and Dazai started talking to each other.

“Oi, shrimp.” Dazai said, turning to Chuuya.

“WHO YOU CALLING SHRIMP-”

“Can you talk any louder?” Osamu said dramatically, plugging his ears with his hands.

“The hell do you want?” Chuuya glared.

“Do me a favor and don’t get so close to them.” Dazai said, quickly looking at you and back at Chuuya.

“Oh? Getting protective now are we?” Chuuya smirked. “Scared you’re gonna lose someone to me?”

“Everyday you remind me how much I want to punch you in the face.”

“You didn’t deny it.”

Osamu raised his fist. “We’re here!” you say turning around.

“What the hell did I miss?” you asked, seeing your brother about to punch Chuuya.

“Nothing, don't worry!” Osamu quickly replied, lowering his arm and catching up to your distance.

Chuuya followed him with a snarky smirk on his face.

You raised an eyebrow. “Okay…”

Osamu’s already being more secretive towards me. You kicked a small rock on the floor to quickly release your emotions and calmly rested your shoulders right after.

“Hey the cherry blossoms look nice this year!!” you hear your brother exclaim.

Not wanting to miss the sight you quickly head over. “They're beautiful.” you smile.

“They are.” Chuuya said as he walked up beside you. He had a large smile on his face. Like a child caught in a trance.

“Cute.” you quietly thought out loud.

“What did you say?” Chuuya glanced at you curiously.

“Huh? Oh! I was saying the colour of the cherry blossoms are really bright.”

“They are.” he replied as he went back to observing the charming view.

“Alright both of you. Why don’t we sit down?” Osamu said pointing at the little picnic area he set up.

“I didn’t know you brought that!” you exclaimed happily.

“It was one of those portable picnics that come in those pocket sized boxes I managed to find in my pocket.”

“Yea right Osamu.” You said sarcastically. “You just happen to have one on hand at all times?”

“Oh no! You got me.” he raised his hands in defeat. “I brought it along when we went back to the apartment. I thought of coming here if we couldn’t decide on where to go.”

“You could’ve just suggested it, you know.”

“I know.”

Both your attentions turned to Chuuya as he spoke. “Did any of you bring food? I’m starving here.”

You chuckled.

“I didn’t bring any food but I did sneak this bottle of wine.” Osamu snickered.

“You really do have everything on you. How prepared were you for this picnic?” you asked.

“Not very prepared at all. All of this stuff was mostly stuff I snatched from people in the Port Mafia.”

“Well they sure came in handy. I don’t think we should drink on an empty stomach though. Not to mention we are still too young you know.” you glared, raising an eyebrow at Osamu.

“I’m down. Let’s do it!” Chuuya exclaimed.

“Chuuya don’t drink yet. Let’s go get something for you to eat first.”

“What are you? My mother?”

“Well if you wanna get taller I suggest you do this.” you argued back.

Chuuya stared at you frowning childishly for a while. “Fine.”

“That’s what I thought.”

“On second thought-” he snapped back.

“Nope. You’re coming with me.”

You hear a groan followed by footsteps behind you.

“Anything you want to eat Osamu?” you turned around to ask.

“Nah I’m not hungry.”

“You sure?”

“Yea.”

You had a worried expression on your face but didn’t press any farther.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Chuuya look, it's the bakery that me and Higuchi went to that one time. You remember the organization that took the Port Mafias artillery?”

“How could I forget? You practically used me as a human shield that whole fight.” he snickered, punching you playfully.

“Now that's an exaggeration. I did not.” you rolled your eyes. “It was more like I was the brains while you were the brawn. I Learned that strategy from Osamu.” you laughed recalling the nostalgic memory from years ago, where your brother would always laze around doing all the thinking while you followed his strategic instructions. “I guess I picked up a thing or two.”

“Stop mentioning that dimwit around me.” Chuuya said, rolling his eyes. “Speaking of this cafe. I remember taking you here after training once before.”

“Oh yea! The cookies. Looks like this cafe has some history to it.” you laughed.

“Heh. I guess it does.” Chuuya smiled, putting his hands in his pockets.

“Let’s just get some pastries to eat. Maybe a few cups of water too.”

As you walked in Chuuya was the first to greet the cashier.

“How may I help the two of you?” they said politely.

“Can we get two slices of cake?”

“Of course! Which type of cakes would you like?” the kind cashier asked.

“Make that three slices of cake. I’ll take one strawberry and…” you thought for a second. What type of cake would Osamu like? You then spotted a slice of cake decorated to look like a cute dog. “One of the dog ones.” you smile kindly. However, you knew how much your brother hated dogs. Snickering at your evil plan.

“I’ll also take a slice that looks like a dog.” Chuuya ordered.

“Alrighty then! Would you two like anything else?”

“Yep! Three cups of water please. That would be all.”

“We’ll get your order to you as soon as possible!” the cashier answered.

As the cashier left to tell the bakers your orders you struck up a conversation.

“You like dogs?” you turned to Chuuya.

You swore you saw his eyes light up as bright as the sun at that moment.

“I do.” he replied nonchalantly.

“You’re so childish.” you laughed.

“WHAT’S SO CHILDISH ABOUT LIKING DOGS?”

“You’re being too loud Chuuya. You’re gonna cause a scene.” you said, still laughing. “And that’s not what I’m calling you childish about.”

“Then what?” he said grumpily.

“The way you quickly restrained yourself from showing me how much you love dogs is childish.”

A light flush came over his face. You didn’t fail to notice.

“Was I really that easy to see through?” he said embarrassed.

“You didn’t exactly make it hard, Chuuya.”

Ring

“That must be our order Chuuya!” you say, quickly grabbing the nice bag that contained your pastries, while Chuuya took the tray holding your three waters.

You took a quick whiff of the opened bag and sighed. “It smells amazing!!” You offered Chuuya the bag to smell right after, holding the opening to his direction. He did the same as you. “It does smell amazing.”

“Let’s get back so we can eat these!” you said, already pacing a little faster with a little jolly hop to your steps.

Chuuya smiled affectionately. Another wholesome moment to keep in both your memories.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What’s taking those two so long? Osamu thought impatiently.

A ring soon came from Osamu’s phone. He checked the contact assuming it was you.

“Mori.” he groaned out loud and contemplated picking up the phone for a few seconds until eventually answering.

“Hello Dazai.”

No response.

“Don’t give me the silent treatment just because I gave you an order you didn’t like. Such a bratty child.”

Osamu tsked, annoyed.

Mori’s voice suddenly went serious. “Stop with this attitude. I see you’re not following my orders. Both Chuuya and your sibling aren’t even with you.”

A pause followed. “What makes you so sure?” Osamu finally spoke.

“I have eyes everywhere, Dazai. You’re mistaken to have underestimated the Port Mafia boss.”

As Osamu was about to expostulate, he heard you and Chuuya chattering in the distance.

“They’re back. I’ll be going now.” Osamu quickly said, about to hang up.

“Make sure nothing like this happens again. You know what would happen if it does.” Mori warned.

Osamu hung up.

“Who was on the phone Osamu?” you asked.

“Mori. Who else?” he laughed.

You quickly noticed something was off. “I got you a cake Osamu!” you handed him one of the dog cakes.

Osamu simply stared and sighed. “Thank you.”

You let out an evil snicker. “You like it?”

“Yes. I love it even.” He said sarcastically. Though he sounded tired.

“What’s wrong Osamu?” you asked, starting to get concerned.

“Yea, what IS wrong?” Chuuya questioned.

“Calm down. You guys took so damn long I got tired, that's all.” Osamu said letting out a fake yawn.

“If it was the dog cake I’m sorry.” You said taking a bite out of your strawberry slice. “If you want I’ll give you some of mine.”

“Geez, I told you I’m just tired. Getting worked up over a cake is petty.” He said, proving his point by taking a few bites out of his slice.

You were glad it wasn’t you.

“Stop being such a party pooper. Be more lively!!!” Chuuya said, shouting the last part more enthusiastically.

You laughed at his antics. You then felt Osamu lean on you. “Since when was I your personal pillow?” you said jokingly.

“The roles have switched.” Osamu answered, casually still taking slow bites from his cake.

“Done!! Now let’s open that bottle!!” Chuuya said excitedly, already attempting to pop the cork off.

“That was quick.” you sighed. “Oh wait, we didn't bring any cups.”

“It’s fine I’ll just chug my water and use that cup.” Chuuya quickly responded.

He was like a child opening up his gift on Christmas day. You found this side of him soothing.

You watch as he chugged the water from the cup and started pouring wine into it. “What water are you going to drink to water it down?” you asked.

“I don’t need water.” he responded stubbornly. Chuuya then took a sip. “Man this is good!!” he smirked.

“Really? Let me try.” you say stretching your hand towards Chuuya signaling him to lend you his cup with wine. He didn’t refuse, giving it to you.

You took a small sip, trying the drink Chuuya seems to be extremely fond of. You immediately cringed. “Oh god that’s bitter.” You quickly took your water and started drinking it.

“Pfft- More for me then.” Chuuya commented, pouring more into his cup.

You looked over to Osamu to ask if he also wanted some but you realized he was fast asleep. I guess he really was tired. You smiled softly.

“Is that guy already asleep? What a loser. How much did he drink?” Chuuya said woozily.

“Oh my god.” you said disappointingly. “You’re a really light drinker aren’t you?”

“I am NOT.” he replied with a hic at the end.

“Alright that’s enough for today. I’m gonna close the wine.” you say grabbing the wine bottle with the cork.

“Nooo~” Chuuya whined, he attempted to grab the bottle from your hand but fell face first into the picnic blanket.

You jolted for a sec. “Are you alright?” you asked concerned while pushing the cork back on the bottle.

Chuuya suddenly propped himself up from his fallen state. His face had a very clear red flush over it. He really blended in with the pink cherry blossoms falling. “Hey.” he said, interrupting your train of thought.

“Hm?” You were quickly caught off guard when Chuuya came really close to your face. You and him were about a few inches away from each other.

“Chuuya.” you said sternly. “Sit down. You’re drunk.” Pushing him into a sitting position you gave him your water. “Drink it.”

Chuuya groaned and retorted. “Chuuya.” you raised an eyebrow. “I’m not your babysitter. Drink the water.”

Osamu then slowly woke up from his slumber due to you and Chuuya causing a racket.

“What are you doing?” Osamu tiredly spoke.

“Trying to get this guy to drink some damn water so I don’t have to carry him back to headquarters.” you answered.

“Good luck trying to get him to do that. He’s already stubborn enough when he’s not drunk.”

You sighed, irritated. “Drink the water and I’ll talk to Mori about getting a dog at the Port Mafia.”

That seemed to have worked cause he started to drink the water with no complaints. “Such a child.” you and Osamu said.

“When we get back to our apartment I need to tell you something.” Osamu then stated.

That made you worried. “Sure.” you responded. “Alright Chuuya get up, we're heading back. Looks like I’m not doing any training today. It’ll be pretty late once we get back to the Port Mafia.” You look up at the sky to see a comforting warm crimson sunset. It reflected off the cherry blossoms nicely. Making you awe at the sight.

You grabbed Chuuyas hand, helping him get up without wobbling. “Do you think you can walk?”

“Of course I can.” he responded, already starting to walk back to the Port Mafia. “Looks like he's recovering just fine.”

Not wanting to find him if he gets lost you decide it was best to catch up with him. “C’mon Osamu we’re heading back.”

You all started to peacefully walk back to headquarters with the sunset still gleaming, enjoying the view while occasional stray cherry blossom petals blew by, creating a fresh and floral scent surrounding the nearby area. You made sure to take a good breath of the fresh air in as you calmly skipped your way back in the pleasant silence.

Chapter Text

As you all finally made it back to the Port Mafia headquarters and went your separate ways back to your apartments, your brother spoke up.

“Get comfortable, this is gonna be a long chat.” he sighed tiredly.

You raised an eyebrow, confused. But you still sat on the couch making yourself comfortable.

Osamu’s expression quickly turned serious. “The thing Mori told me.”

“Was there something about it you wanted me to know?” you questioned.

He groaned. “I don’t know how to word this.” He paused with a frustrated look on his face and then took a long breath, like he was preparing himself for something. You looked at him, worried.

“I know you’re getting closer to Chuuya. Mori knows you’re getting closer to Chuuya.”

You were displeased with how he said that. “What does that have to do with anything?”

He avoided your question and continued. “Mori doesn’t like it. He suspects it will lead to problems. He is also willing to do almost anything to stop you two. He assigned me to stop you both. However, knowing both your stubborn asses, that's impossible no matter what angle you look at it from.”

“Who does Mori think he is? I can do what I want.” you spat, getting aggravated.

“We both know Mori gets his way in the end. No matter what you think of he’ll find a way to stop it if he doesn’t want it to happen.” He chuckled. “Me, personally, I want to go against his orders as much as you do. But I know that’s not possible.”

You hesitated. “Then what do I do?”

There was a dark silence that followed. “For now…I’ll let you make the call.”

“And what about Chuuya?”

“We’ll see what happens.” Osamu responded. “Why don’t you get your training done with Chuuya.”

“Yea, okay.” you said still unsure about how to feel about Mori’s secret mission he gave to your own brother. If you were to be honest, it pissed you off.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“You’re more aggressive than usual.”

You snapped out of your thoughts and looked over to Chuuya who was giving you a confused stare.

“What’s up?” he continued.

“What makes you think that?” you questioned acting as if you didn’t know what he was talking about.

He raised an eyebrow. “Well first off you’ve just been angrily glaring at a punching bag and you’re completely silent. You were also more scattered with your moves when we were sparring. I may be oblivious to the thinking part of things but I can recognize your combat changes in a heartbeat.”

You smiled nervously. “How observant, Chuuya. To answer your question, I’m just tired, that's all. Anyway our training is basically over so I’m gonna head out for today. See you tomorrow.” You said while walking away.

Chuuya stared in your direction. “Such a bold liar.” he muttered under his breath.

You didn’t fail to hear his words. Turning around, you felt your anger slightly rise along with your tone. “What makes you think I’m lying?”

However, Chuuya would win if it was a competition of anger. “Why can’t you just tell me what's going on? You’re always making me talk about myself but the second I ask something about you, you just have your guard up and change the subject.”

It started to feel like you were carrying a boulder on your shoulders. You had a slight shake in your movement and started to move towards the exit. “I really am just tired Chuuya. Plus the Port Mafia works at night the most, gotta rest before it’s time to get back to work, you know?”

You felt his glare right through you. He was furious. “Okay.”

You walked out from there and started to make your way to your apartment.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you were in the middle of walking you were suddenly stopped by one of the Port Mafia guards.

“Hello, Mori wants to see you in his office. He had no specifications for what the subject was.”

You managed to respond tiredly “Alright.”

You made your way to Mori’s office while also getting past the guards smoothly. When you finally made it you knocked and you heard Mori reply with a simple “Come in.”

Walking into his office you saw Elise drawing on a red couch that was placed near the right side of the room while Mori was in the center sitting on his chair. “Have a seat.” he spoke.

You sat down on one of the few unoccupied chairs. “What did you call me here for?”

“There’s this mission that I need you to do. So far the men I have sent on this mission failed, we are currently trying to take this small organization down due to their rapid growth in popularity and power in the underground organizations. This organization is known for the sheer amount of ability users they have compared to the ratio of people who don’t have an ability. If they were to gain more they would be a problematic rival as well as if they were to gain as many ability users we have. This will be a solo infiltration mission. You are to grab as much intel as you possibly can overnight and report back to me at 9am tomorrow. Understood?” Mori paused and smiled. “I want to see how your training has been going.”

“Understood.” you replied as you started to leave to start your newly assigned mission.

When you reached a comfortable distance from Mori’s office you sent a quick text to Osamu.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I won’t be back until tomorrow morning”

Osamu: ?? Why tomorrow morning?

“Mori gave me a overnight solo mission”

Osamu: Is it the one that most of our men failed to complete?

“How’d you know that?”

Osamu: It was the only overnight mission I thought of

“Haha. Well I’ll be off now. See you tomorrow.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------

You continued walking until you reached the car that was supposed to take you to the location of the organization’s hideout. You got on the passenger seat and the ride was quite silent most of the way. Around half way the car stopped, you looked over at the driver confused. “This doesn’t look like the location, why'd we stop?”

The driver then made eye contact with you. He looked worried. “Hey are you ok?” you asked, getting more confused.

He quickly cut you off. “I’m sorry but I have to do this.” you watched as he quickly lunged towards you with a knife in his left hand and a towel in his other hand. You assumed that towel was no ordinary towel, it was most likely soaked with chloroform. Thinking fast, you quickly dodged the swing of the knife and attempted to open the car door behind you, however the door was locked from the inside. “Shit.” you swore. You quickly changed strategies. Grabbing the drivers hands, you swiftly pinned them above their head, as cramped and uncomfortable this position was you managed to grab the bandages you always swiped from Osamu and used it to tie the drivers wrists together before they could do further damage.

“No wonder he loves bandages. These things are really useful.” you said with an amused smirk. “I’ll be taking these.” You said taking the knife and towel from them.

“Wait! Please, I was forced to do this. I didn’t mean any harm.” the driver yelped.

“Coming at me with a knife sure looks like harm. But I won’t hold a grudge, I’ll let the Port Mafia deal with you.”

“Wait-” They were cut off as you put the chloroform soaked towel over their nose and mouth.

You sighed as you unlocked the car and got out. “How the hell am I supposed to get to the location now?” You didn’t get much time to think and were in almost pitch darkness you were easily ambushed from an unknown direction.

Lost in thought for just a second was all the time your opponent needed to attack. You struggled trying to escape their grasp and held your breath to avoid inhaling the chloroform. In the end all you remember was blacking out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

You woke up to a bright white light blinding you. Guard up, you observe your surroundings while taking mental notes.

This room looks like an old lab. The bright white light flickering every few minutes. You weren’t sure whether or not this was the organization or a totally different location let alone the time but that wasn’t the main problem at the moment. You were currently bound to a chair with a rope with nothing else in the room. You then spotted a guard right outside the room. It seems like they don’t know you’re awake at the moment. “Perfect.” you thought.

Taking a deep breath you focused and attempted to use your ability to destroy a bit of the rope. The rope went loose and you were freed, however your hands had a light burn making them slightly red and you destroyed the rope more than you wanted to. The slight inconvenience didn’t bother you. Continuing your plan, you grabbed the ropes and tied it around your arm making it easier to carry as well as allowing both your hands to be free. You then lifted the heavy metal chair and grunted. “Damn this is heavy” you thought to yourself.

Holding the metal chair you charged towards the metal door and threw the chair towards it, following with an ear-piercing ring from the two metals clashing. The chair wasn’t enough to knock the door down so you kicked the door, doing the final blow. You were out of the room but the guard outside was already shooting in your direction. Luckily, none of the bullets managed to impale you, however some of the bullets managed to graze you causing you to bleed.

“Damn it.” you hissed.

“Seize!” you heard a lady yell from afar. “Why are you causing all this racket?! In front of our guest who came all the way here to see us!”

Her angry expression fell and turned into a welcoming warm smile as she approached you. “We finally met! I’ve heard so much about you and that ability of yours!!”

Extremely suspicious of this newly introduced lady, you start observing her and her features. She had long red velvet like hair and wore a black fascinator that was on the right of her head. She also wore a dark red lipstick as well as black dress pants along with a crimson collared shirt.

“Hey! Don’t you know how to greet a stranger??” you hear the lady ask, snapping you out of your train of thought.

After some contemplating you replied. “Who are you?”

The lady smiled. “My name is Hade Ezpers. It's nice to meet you. You’re a part of the Dazai family, correct?”

You were quite taken aback from her sudden specific question. “Why do you need to know?” you questioned back, raising an eyebrow.

It was like the atmosphere in the room twisted into a draining feeling. It was crushing you, your spirit and determination. You were close to passing out on the floor before it stopped, causing you to groan out of fatigue.

“Answer the question please.” Hade spoke. She clearly didn’t like you questioning her and showed it.

An ability? You thought. Quickly thinking, if you were to say ‘No’ and she found out it was a lie who knows what her ability would do to you. However, if you were to say yes you may have a chance with her. Grumbling, you replied, “Yes I am”.

Hade smiled pleased with your answer. “I knew you looked familiar! Where would your brother be?”

She only wanted to get info on Osamu from me?

“I’m not sure where he would be at the moment.”

She gave a disappointed look at you, “Aw that’s a shame…perhaps you’d like to stay here until he comes?”

A silence followed. “Huh?”

Raising her voice a bit “I asked if you’d like to stay here until your brother shows up!” she repeated.

“Why would he show up here?” You asked confusedly, annoyed.

“He will, my dear.”

“How can you be so sure?”

She smirked. “I haven’t been proved wrong with my theories yet have I?”

“...What theories?”

Hade smiled gently, ignoring your question. “Why don’t you make yourself comfortable? Sit tight, it's gonna be a while!”

“As if you’re-” You were immediately cut off when 3 of the guards ganged up to knock you out once more. The last thing you were able to see was Hade walking away speaking with more of the guards then looking at you keeping her gentle smile plastered on her face.

Chapter Text

“Why the hell is Mori calling me to his office so early?”Osamu groaned tiredly. He slowly slumped towards Mori’s office after getting an unexpected call from him. “So damn random” he cursed as he was knocked aside by someone.

“Get out of my way.” Osamu heard a voice say. He looked up from his tired state to see no other than Chuuya.

“Tsk, who are you to tell me to get out of your way when you clearly bumped into me!” Osamu spat back.

Chuuya didn’t bother arguing back as he continued walking towards his destination. A few minutes of them taking the same turns at every corner the subject finally dawned on them. Mori had called both of them to his office. A loud sigh erupted from both of them.

“Working with your ass is gonna be a fucking pain you walking waste of bandages.”

“Same to you, pipsqueak.”

“I’m not even that shorter than you! In fact I’m pretty much the same height as you!” Chuuya yelled.

“In your stupid little dreams.” Osamu snickered.

After a few minutes of back and forth they arrived at Mori’s office and now waiting for Mori’s reason for calling them both here.

“I see you both bumped into each other on the way! Excellent!” Mori says as gleefully as always with his stupid little act. Osamu’s eyes roll at the mention of it. “Don’t be like that Dazai. Afterall the reason why I called you here today was because I believe that your dear sibling was kidnapped and probably being held as a hostage at the moment. Sadly as you may know I cannot afford to lose such a precious asset to the Port Mafia.”

Osamu spoke with a hint of anger. “What?”

“If that's the case why are we still here and not breaking them outta wherever they are, huh?” Chuuya glared.

Mori smiled. “Oh Chuuya, always in a rush I see. Now I’m afraid that not only is your dear friend being held hostage, they are actually being held hostage by one of Dazai’s mother's dear old friends.”

“...My mother?” Osamu said with his face scrunched up with disgust and anger thinking of it.

Chuuya stared at him, confused.

“You heard me. If my theory is correct then sending you two would be the perfect move to make in this little game of hers. Their location should be in an old abandoned warehouse which presumably got turned into a lab and hideout for the organization up north from here” he said with confidence. “They certainly don’t have much of a budget to work with from that information.” he joked, although it didn’t seem to get Osamu and Chuuya to laugh.

“Whatever. So we’re just supposed to break in, find out where they are and then break out and come back?” Chuuya spoke.

Mori turned his attention to Chuuya. “No. That is way too reckless without a plan, even for you. Luckily I think Dazai already came up with one judging by his face.”

Dazai was in a state of thought and already started to make his way north to find the abandoned warehouse.

“You better catch up, Chuuya. Or maybe Dazai would get significantly ahead of you.” Mori pointed towards Dazai who had already left.

“That bastard.” Chuuya cursed to himself as he followed behind him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So are you gonna let me in on this elaborate plan of yours or do I have to beat you till you talk?” Chuuya glared, getting antsy at the fact they hadn't exchanged a single word and they were already halfway there.

“Sit quietly like a good dog. I don’t need you for my plan.” Dazai’s voice showed that he was clearly irritated by Chuuya and the overall situation. He looked out the car window and continued to ignore Chuuyas further insults until they got there, seemingly out of it.

Dazai was lost in his own thoughts about the situation. “Mori said my mothers old friend is behind this organization. Knowing mom, she was a lady with little to no interest in the people around her, including her children apparently. I wonder what she had done to this “friend” of hers to go and kidnap one of her children like that. But if that’s the case I would be just as valuable as my sibling.” The idea finally hit him when the car stopped near their destination.

Dazai got out of the car and immediately seeked out for one of the guards around the area as Chuuya went his own way, clearly pissed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey!” Dazai called out to one of the guards. The guards immediately pulled out their weapons while he put his hands up innocently, proving he was harmless. He smiled “You may know me. I’m a part of the Dazai family. My name is Osamu.”

In the background he heard a guard whisper to another, “Hade is looking for the other Dazai, this may be the one.”

“Hade huh? I remember my mother mumbled about her name once.” Dazai recalled. He felt his consciousness slip as one of the guards put chloroform over his nose and mouth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“That stupid fucking dumbass got caught already?!” Chuuya mumbled to himself as he watched from a safe distance. “What the fuck does he think he’s doing? Whatever, it’s not the reason why I’m here anyway.” Chuuya ignored Dazai as he thought of his own plan.

A few moments passed by and Chuuya couldn’t think of a working scenario. “It would be so much easier to just kill all the guards… Fuck this planning shit I’m going in.”

Chuuya followed after the guards who took Dazai to the door they entered the warehouse in. He managed to wait till most of them entered and kicked the last one aside in one swoop and covered his mouth preventing any screams or shouts to be heard.

He brought a pocket knife to his neck. “Scream and you’re dead. What do you have against the Dazai family?” he said while releasing his hand from his mouth.

The guard laughed. “I wouldn’t know you gotta ask Hade that. Good luck though, she would be the one making you talk anyway.”

The knife started to dig into his skin causing a droplet of blood to flow down. The guard panicked, “I already told you I don’t know.”

“You’re fucking useless.” Chuuya’s voice was deep, it was clearly the answer he didn’t want to hear. With one flick of his arm the man's head flew off.

Chuuya headed towards the entrance of the building ready for a fight.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dazai woke up and he was strapped down to a chair similar to the way you were. He easily analyzed his situation and broke out using his lock picking skills with surprisingly no guards guarding his door. He found that extremely suspicious. After a bit of wandering through the halls he found the room you were in.

You were out like a light. He quietly opened the door and tried his best to quietly unlock the straps around your arm as well. That was when a loud bang was heard from behind him. The door was suddenly shut.

“We got them!” Dazai heard the man yell. “Shit.” he cursed to himself. He was too caught up in the rescue that he didn’t think this would happen.

All the loud noise seemed to wake you up as you mumbled. “Osamu…? What are you even doing here..?” After snapping out of your quick daze you quickly warned him. “Wait Osamu! You shouldn’t be here Hade is looking for you specifically!”

“I’m aware.” Osamu replied calmly. “Don’t speak another word from now on.” Confused, you listened to him and stayed silent. That’s when Hade walked in with a few more guards.

“I won’t let you brats escape this time.” she laughed. “I’ve had enough of this cat and mouse chase.”

“What do you want? And how do you know my mom?” Dazai questioned her before she could question him.

“I’m so glad you asked! I want your abilities. Especially yours, Osamu.” Hade spoke proudly of the plan she had for you two. “With your ability to cancel out with others I’m able to take someone's ability away from them permanently with just a little experimenting. Now please let me just extract some of your DNA from you.”

“No.” your brother said coldly. “You still haven’t answered my other question. How do you know our mother?”

“You don’t need to worry about that.” Hade responded in a monotone voice signifying she didn’t care for his question.

There was suddenly a loud clang of metal coming from the right of the cell you were in. Your brother chuckled. “You know what you do need to worry about?”

Hade couldn't even question him as Chuuya rammed through the door on the right. Smoke filled the room and you were thankful that the door on your cell was closed.

“Chuuya!” you said happily. That earned you a glare from your brother. You pretend you didn’t see as you walked towards the cell door to see what Chuuya was doing. Your brother grabbed your arm before you could get too close and pulled you away and dragged you to get closer to the floor with him. “Don’t.” You were about to ask what had gotten into him before your cell door flew past you two and smashed against the back of the cell wall.

“Well you sure know how to make a scene.” Dazai told Chuuya.

“And you know how to get caught like a dumbass.” Chuuya argued. His eyes met yours and walked towards you. You shuffled backwards nervously considering the last interaction you had with him was an argument.

“Are you alright?” he spoke calmly. “I’m fine.” you replied. He took a deep breath before angrily yelling at you, “What the hell has gotten into you!? Why would you go on this mission alone knowing damn well how many people didn’t come back from it?!”

Shocked from the angry lecture you received, all you could say was “Sorry…”

While Chuuya continued lecturing you Dazai got up and walked out of the cell to confront Hade. Pulling out a gun from his pocket he saw Hade stuck in between a pile of rubble Chuuya caused during his break in. He pointed the gun right between her eyes. “Tell me what you know about my mom.”

“Why would I-” A gunshot was heard along with a scream.

You winced at the loud sound of her agonizing scream. “What are they doing?” you asked Chuuya.

Chuuya held out his hand to help you up, “I have no idea. Doesn’t sound like the woman is having a good time though.”

You and Chuuya both curiously walked towards Dazai and Hade. It truly was a sight to behold. Dazai was holding the gun right on her left arm while her right was still bleeding with a clear gunshot wound. “You either answer my question now or you’ll be kept alive long enough for you to do so later. I don’t care what you pick. As long as I don’t hit any of your vitals you can’t die. You won’t die from blood loss either, I won’t let you.”

You haven’t seen your brother act like this in a while. You gently tugged on Chuuya’s jacket making sure you’re not just seeing things but he looked as confused as you were.

That’s when Hade passed out from blood loss. “Tsk. Dammit.” your brother swore. He then looked over at your direction. “What do you think she meant by ‘take our abilities’?”

“Well considering this warehouse is like a lab with all of these other people with abilities I would assume she was researching how to take or copy someone's ability to use for herself.” you suggested.

“Yea that’s what I’m thinking too. But I feel like she knows something we don’t about our mom and I want to find out what. Call Mori and tell him to send guards here to pick Hade up and treat her so she doesn’t die yet.”

You sighed at your brother's cold personality. “Alright.” you say calling Mori. After Mori agreed to send the guards over you sighed and looked at the mess bestowed upon you. A bunch of people were on the floor, some dead and some struggling to survive.

Chuuya then spoke up, “Are you and your brother really related?”

You looked at him in disbelief. “What are you talking about, of course we are.”

He sighed. “That’s not what I meant. I mean Dazai is so…” He struggled to find the words. “I don’t know, deranged? And you’re so…normal?”

You stared at him for a second processing what he said and laughed. With a serious voice you replied, “You haven’t seen me actually fight someone with all I’ve got yet Chuuya.”

Dazai laughed while overhearing the conversation. “You can’t do anything in a fight, don't act all tough and cool. However, I do remember what happened when you were still getting used to your ability and got into a fight with some kid on the streets.” You scoffed remembering. “Whatever Osamu.”

While on your car ride back. Chuuya, still reminiscing over Dazais words, decided to ask you. “What happened when you fought that kid on the streets?” You heard Dazai shuffle turning his attention towards you wondering how you would respond to his question.

You sighed and answered honestly since it was many years ago. “The kid I fought with was a kid who was usually hanging out around the alleys or slums which I passed by while I was walking around aimlessly. He would mock and tease me when I walked by. I didn’t really mind until he brought up something.” You paused trying to remember what it was. “It was something about my parents I don’t remember what. He said something along the lines of ‘my mom says your mom is something something…’ I got mad and said ‘What do you know about my mom? I didn’t even get to know my mom!’ That pissed me off enough to jump at him. He kept clawing at me and in the end my ability activated on its own. It killed him.”

Trying to play it off, you laughed and said “You should’ve seen the mess it made! I panicked and got Osamu to-” you looked over to see Chuuyas expression. He wasn’t scared or anything. His expression was a mix of pity and understanding.

“...Sorry that’s probably something you didn’t wanna hear right?” you said.

“No that’s not it.” Chuuya was quick to reassure you. “If you did all that when you were a kid. I’m just wondering why you can’t just do that now.”

“There's not really a deep reason to it, I just can’t. I guess I subconsciously repressed it. It’s also probably why I can’t really control my ability right now.”

Dazai sighed, having enough of this pity party. “I’ve had enough! We gotta get back to headquarters and report all of this to Mori. This is gonna suck! And after that I gurantee you Mori is gonna make me torture info out of Hade.” He paused. “Care to join me?” he looked at you.

“Me??” you looked shocked. “Who else?” Dazai shrugged. “I mean it’ll be good practice for your ability too”

“...I guess. Why not?” you were curious about what Hade knew about your mom but you were also nervous of using your ability on an actual person after so long.

Chuuya sighed and chuckled. “I guess I’m with two deranged idiots after all.
