I lived a wonderful life with my husband.
I loved him more than anyone, but he..betrayed me. I just wanted to be loved, am I really that unlucky?
I wanted love without interruption. He tore us apart when all I wanted was her.
I hated him for what he'd done. Everything could be different if he'd just stayed away and I could have her.
A woman standing beside a man, her husband, her lover, her everything. The two were standing in the grass looking up at the sky. It was a wonderful moment between the two. She couldn't help but stare at the picture from time to time.
"Gladiolus, come eat dinner!" the woman yelled as she stirred the warm pot. "Hun thank you" Gladiolus walked into the kitchen hugging his wife from behind earning a soft giggle from her "It's nice to have you home honey.".
She turned around to gently cup his face. "How's your..mission with Keir she's a tough one right?" Gladiolus nodded. "She's almost never alone! she's always with this..lady, she's nice..". He picked up the plate of chicken and rice and followed his wife back into the living room sitting down next to her before taking his place across from her.
"Really good for her" Tai smiled shyly at her husband who'd rolled his eyes "Keir is a dangerous person that's why I was hired to take her out T, they're a horrible couple".
Tai sighed silently nodding "I guess but I don't know either of them personally..let's get to bed I'm full" She stood up heading to the bedroom while Gladiolus quickly ate and cleaned up. When finished the two retreated to their bedroom and got ready for sleep. He wrapped his arms around Tai and pulled her closer to him gently.
Gladiolus softly kissed his wife "Goodnight hun, sweet dreams." Tai smiled snuggling into him. Gladiolus could already feel himself drifting off Before he knew it, he'd fallen asleep. Tai didn't bother waking him, and laid there watching him sleep and listened to his heartbeat. She couldn't help but smile at how peaceful he looked. 'I love him..' After a few minutes, she decided to fall asleep as well.
The next morning, Tai woke up to find Gladiolus still sleeping. She quietly slipped out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
Once done she made her way to their room to wake Gladiolus up. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw him curled in their bed sleeping soundly. A small smile crept on her face. She approached his sleeping form carefully "Hun it's time to get up!"
"....."
"Gladiolus..get up"
At an instant the man's eyes shot open and he bolted upright looking frantically around, trying to figure out where he was. "Gladiolus it's okay" Tai said calmly putting a hand on his shoulder. Slowly Gladiolus came back to reality "Sorry"
"It's fine honey, let's get ready alright?" she offered, Gladiolus nodded "Thanks.." both got ready for the day, Gladiolus made breakfast for the two while Tai packed their things together. They made it outside holding hands
"I'll see you later Gladiolus! be safe" Tai jumped up to hug him which made Gladiolus chuckle "I will and you too stay safe!" Tai smiled at him "I love yo-" before she could finish her sentence he quickly let go of her and started running off. Tai watched him leave sadly before turning around heading to the city
'Everyday the same thing..' she thought while walking 'he treats me well..I want this to last forever' Tai looked up at the bright gray sky admiring it, the wonderful gray sky with bright glowing clouds and continued walking.
A few miles away was a curly brown haired woman smiling as her lover ran up to her with a wide grin plastered along their face "Pae!" she yelled her locs flying around as she ran to her "Keir!" Pae opened her arms wrapping them around her tightly "I missed you Keir.." Pae whispered "I know he's not here to bother us finally" Keir replied annoyed.
Pae rolled her eyes smiling "yeah that guy..whatever his name is was pretty close it was weird" Keir nodded "we gotta keep that weirdo away from us" silently she had to agree that man came out of nowhere and just started to bother the two separating them away from each other making Keir make a fuss which Pae didn't enjoy she hated seeing her partner upset but she could never get the man to listen.
"I don't know what to do..I'll take a walk to get some fresh air, I'll see ya later Keir love ya!". "Wait, are you still coming with me to that party?" Keir quickly asked, making Pae nod frantically before she kissed her cheek speed walking away with a grin on her face.
Keir stared at her lover and walked away with that grin "oh.." she put her hand on her cheek slowly rubbing it "that was..nice!" she fiddled with one of her locs. She couldn't stop herself from smiling weirdly, she'd never been kissed on the cheek before..it felt nice and was warm.
The people walking past her gave disgusted looks and made weird sounds as they continued on their way mumbling "weirdo…" or "creep." to her.
But Keir ignored them. She ignored everyone around her. She was too happy to pay attention to those nobody's that walked past her. She was used to it and with a wide smile on her face she finally started to walk to a library 'that was amazing!!!' she yelled in her mind.
Tai looked at the basket in her hands trying to figure out what she would make for dinner tonight until she heard a muffled voice ahead of her.
"Lady T!" a voice rang, a woman with curly brown hair waved smiling widely at the other woman walking towards her "Hello! How are you today?" Tai asked warmly as she got a good look at the curly haired woman.
Her gray dress matched perfectly with the dim sky above the two but Tai noticed that something about her seemed...off somehow.
"How do you know my name?" Tai suddenly asked squinting her eyes
"Well everyone knows your name Lady T, your mother did help a lot to make this world beautiful as it is today!" The woman explained, slightly embarrassed.
"Oh..yes that's right, apologies if I came off as rude ummm Miss?" Tai smiled "Pae! I'm surprised you don't recognize me.." Pae frowned pouting at her.
"It's you Pae! I'm sorry I didn't recognize you..your hair is so short now I like it" Tai embarrassingly said she really didn't recognize her.
The two didn't really know each other like that, they only knew each other because of their status. Both are very special women because of their abilities.
"Um but anyway, how are you doing these days?" Tai asked out of politeness.
"Not bad! I'm going to a party that's happening in a few weeks..and was wondering if you'd like to come!" Tai raised an eyebrow but smiled slightly, shaking her head "Oh no dear! I'm afraid I don't do parties. I must gather ingredients for dinner tonight."
"So you're a married woman eh?"
Tai chuckled nervously and nodded "I am.." the other woman shrugged "I'm sorry, but I really can't say yes. Maybe someday though" she gave a sad smile and turned to leave.
"Alright at the end of the world, that's a party till we're dead! Goodbye Lady T'' Tai softly waved surprised at her words. 'end of the world?..hm' and went on the path to the store hoping that the strange feeling would pass.
Tai spent hours gathering all the ingredients she needed, humming to herself happily.She put the last bowl in her cart and made her way home. On her way back home late in the evening she looked up at the stars.
"So beautiful.." Tai smiled as she'd always loved the stars, they were beautiful and wonderful to look at. She'd always wondered what it felt like to touch one. Would it be warm like the sun? or cold as ice? she softly laughed to herself. Once She reached the door she immediately unlocked it and went to cook a snack for herself.
"Grilled cheese..the best!" She cheered happily as she prepared the sandwiches. Once the food was cooked she took it up to her room and placed it on the table, setting the plates and silverware next to each other. She sat at the table and began eating. While chewing her bread.
'I wonder if he'll be late today..' Tai thought of taking another bite; she sat in silence quietly finishing her last grilled cheese.
4 hours had gone by. It was very late at night and Tai was on the couch waiting for her husband to arrive home 'he's late..I should just go to bed' she frowned at the thought but forced herself to go get in bed. It felt empty and cold but she slept comfortably. The next day was uneventful but also quite boring, Gladiolus still hadn't come home.
'This is..different' Tai thought after a week and a half of her husband mysteriously disappeared without letting her know 'I don't like this..' Tai layed down on her bed softly as her blood boiled.
'Where is he? why isn't he home?'
'Did he die?'
What was going on? Why wasn't she informed? did he not care for her anymore? How should she take on this situation? Tai flopped on her cold bed just thinking she had nothing else to do.
'he abandoned me, I should've known' she gripped her pillow hard falling asleep with tears rolling down her cheeks.
When she woke up the bed was empty and cold again but she was getting used to the cold feeling. 'another day..' Tai glared down at a picture of her and her husband smiling happily at each other.
She threw the frame on the floor in anger. "What am I doing, I don't know what to do, I'm so lost." She weeped. "I could just wait..maybe he got into some trouble but why is there a horrible feeling in my chest?" Something was wrong. She felt this horrible feeling that's hurting her.
She whimpered as the feeling got stronger bringing her down to her knees shaking and wailing 'it hurts..it hurts so much what's wrong with me?' she sobbed
While Tai sobbed slamming her fist into the floor her husband was at a certain party Pae had mentioned before.
It was loud, everyone was dancing and drinking while music rang all in his ears. Gladiolus saw Pae dancing with Keir, she was smiling widely at her and Keir softly smiled back; they looked at each other lovingly.
The tall man couldn't help but feel a pinch of jealousy in his stomach 'why are they so close..move move move!' something in his head pushed him to take a step forward toward them.
'Stop, stop, stop looking at her like that.' He took another step staring at them, his eyes wide pushing past people getting closer to them "S..top" he mumbled reaching out toward Pae they didn't hear him he spoke in a whisper
"Stop it! STOP STOP!!" he yelled and finally got through the crowd of people yelling at the two ladies. Keir didn't bother to look at him when he yelled at them she kept her eyes on Pae. "What…?" Pae looked at him confused and startled "Stay away Pae she was trying..to hurt you" He lied through his teeth.
"What are you talking about? I'm fine?" she replied quickly taking hold of Keir's hand which made the tall man slap it away and swiftly pulled her behind him.
"I know what you're doing, Keir knock it off!" He pointed at her, making the woman finally look at him. She had a nasty look on her face, clearly pissed off at his actions. "What is wrong with you?" she asked irritated
"You were trying to hypnotize her! I know what you can do Keir and it was working." he accused
The music stopped and everyone stopped dancing. All eyes were on the three Pae shook her hand off of her and slapped him hard "Don't touch me." she spat bitterly pushing him away from her.
The party ended with and awkward ending everyone had left Pae and Keir went their separate ways this made Keir upset but she respected her wishes.
It was the afternoon Tai was at the local park sitting down on a bench staring off in space clenching her fits tightly. her mind raced with thousands of ideas of what she would do if she saw him right now, she wanted to hug him and then kill him.
"Lady T..?" a voice called out but she ignored it she wasn't in the mood to be positive and polite
"My Lady..?" Tai looked up recognizing the soft voice seeing the same curly brown haired woman standing in front of her nervously tapping her fingers "Oh...hello it seems we meet again Pae" Tai waved at the woman "Yeah..I had a long day today" she sighed sitting down beside her "Me too.." Tai smiled painfully, the same strange feeling rising in her chest again.
"What happened? Are you alright?" Pae asked from her tone Tai could feel the concern in her voice "Oh well..I haven't seen my husband in sometime, I am..worried" she was more than worried but she didn't want to dump all of that on her friend.
"Oh I hope he comes home soon and he better have an explanation! I can tell you treat him well" Pae smiled softly at Tai
"Yeah but I feel like he won't he'll just ignore my worries hehe" She nervously laughed
"If he doesn't have a good explanation leave him and if you can't i'll save you!" Pae quickly said, taking hold of her friend's hands "We may not be close but I cherish you a lot, you're so nice and kind" Pae showered her compliments making Tai embarrassed but she loved it. Pae made her feel warm and appreciated
"Thank you.." she whispered making Pae blush "Oh of course anything for a friend you seemed so down!" Pae waved her off smiling widely.
They hugged and said their goodbyes. Tai walked back home slower than usual but she looked at the stars just like she always had.
"Where have you been?"
Tai jumped at the sudden voice "Huh??" she answered confused. She felt a strong grip on her arm and pulled her inside her home harshly. "Stop, stop , that hurts!" She tried to pull away but the grip around her became tighter and she started to weep silently.
"You're fine, don't be a crybaby." Gladiolus frowned looking at her still keeping his hand around her arm "Where have you been?" he asked again "With a friend. Where have you been?!" she yelled, pulling herself away from him.
"Work it doesn't concern you" He replied annoyed "I was worried about you why didn't you tell me!?" Gladiolus crossed his arms looking away from her "I was busy i couldn't write or anything.." he told her casually Tai stared at him wide eyed "..." then walked off to their bedroom.
Tai stayed in bed, she stayed there for weeks not moving at all. she'd only move when Gladiolus came into their bedroom to talk about work "Hun you wouldn't believe it but that nice lady can really handle Keir but they're still horrible for each other.."
"Honey, you wouldn't believe what happened with those two idiots!" he said one day to her
"Pae is..!" he rambled to her another day revealing her name on accident she noticed this but didn't say anything.
"Pae just needss..." he looked softly at his phone while waving his hand around some other day to Tai
"Pae!" his voice rang in her head 'that name...' "Pae asked me!.." the voice chimed 'that stupid name..' "Pae is wonderful!" 'Am I not wonderful..?'
Tai frowned, 'Why does he talk about her so much..' she thought 'Pae..? did she trick me this whole time im so dumb of course' tears spilled down her cheeks feeling betrayed by her friend..her close friend she said she cherished Tai but was that even the truth?
'Save me..'
Tai cried softly wondering why she wasn't good enough for her husband and why she was tricked. She couldn't understand why she wasn't good enough? she thought she did everything right, cooking, cleaning, washing, loving all for him to talk about another woman. her friend
She missed the old days, the days where he'd take care of her and eat dinner with her.
Love her.
Only her his only love, the only woman in his eyes.
Burning hatred boiled in her blood as she saw a note on her doorstep saying in bold END OF THE WORLD!
Pae had come over to her home warning Tai about the world coming to an end; she didn't believe it and brushed her off coldly until she saw a note "so it's real.."
"Is it really the end..?" Tai whispered as remembering when Pae told her the two would party when the world was going to end. she walked to the city with a note in her hand
In the city Pae was standing outside in the middle of the street while people yelled and threw things at her. "This is the end of the world!" she yelled out with a microphone in her hand
"What is she talking about??" a man starting shouting at her
"Right, someone get that crazy girl out of the streets!" a woman pointed at Pae
Nobody noticed the sky shedding it's usual gray color to a bright red
Suddenly small portals opends and winged creatures with halos and dark horns flew out attacking the civilians striking them harshly with their weapons in hand.
"Surprise..~" Pae smiled viciously bowing gracefully as her bow appeared behind her
"Citrine i leave this all to you i have to find Keir" Pae waved over at the angel who'd nodded frantically before smacking someone with her staff
Everyone had weapons now it was bloody. everyone was now fighting each other, killing each other harshly
Tai walked into the town slowly completely in utter shock seeing bodies flying down from above making a loud crunch sound. Beautiful fathers slowly floating down until the falling bodies of people she'd recognized. 'who did this?' She also witnessed people fighting below right in front of her. a winged person with a staff slammed it down on the other person's head kicking them into a building making it crash down. 'Shit…an Angel i thought those didn't exist anymore' she thought quickly looking up catching someone falling from above
"My lady!! you must help us!" a woman sobbed out her face was beaten badly Tai rubbed her face gently "Angels!...Demons came out of a portal. My Lady, they attacked us, please please save us!" the woman wrapped her arms around Tai's neck sobbing harder.
"I will. try to get somewhere safe and locate my husband." Tai gently pushed her away and started jogging elsewhere looking around "oh no..the sky" she frowned noticing the lack of emotion in her voice but ignored it.
"Gladiolus where are you..?" in the corner of her eye she saw something shoot up in the clouds "Huh..?" she hesitated 'should I follow them' she looked up at the cloud again before starting to stretch 'its been a while since I've..used my abilities'
On the clouds above was. Keir laughing as she watched as her home was being destroyed, screams, begging, whines, and death it all made her smile. She was sitting on a cloud kicking her feet gracefully humming a soft tune. she thought about the recent events resulting in this war "this could've been avoided.." she mumbled softly frowning
"You're right this could've been avoided," a voice said coming behind her Keir ignored the voice continuing to look at the fighting. A familiar tall buff man came up behind her Gladiolus he huffed glaring down at her coldly.
"What have you done!?" Gladiolus yelled horrified after seeing his comrades fall to their deaths "Glad~ you seem troubled, what's wrong talk to me, we're friends right?" Keir smirked
Tai jumped up hoping she'd reach the clouds her prayers were heard as she held her hand out toward a cloud it looked like it was coming closer and closer to her eventually she caught a good grip on it and climbed on. "Wow…its so beautiful here" she mumbled absolutely amazed at the scenery the beautiful red sky and these fluffy pillows like clouds
"It really is.." Suddenly Keir appeared beside her smiling "AAA-" Tai screamed but quickly a hand covered her mouth "Jeez i'm not the real thing just a clone goodness shut it.." the clone admitted "Surprise!" The clone smiled then disappeared into the cloud. "Wh…" Tai looked around dumbfounded. "Time to learn the truth!" she heard the clone's voice again then the cloud starting moving towards more clouds
'Truth..? about what' Tai looked down she knew deep down what the truth was but ran away from it she'd always run away stay quiet ignored the horrible things. now she. can't do that she can't run or hide
Slowly the cloud hid between other clouds. "Go and listen, don't get seen." The clone ordered hesitantly Tai climbed out the cloud recognizing voices and started to slowly crawl near it still behind some of the clouds
Then she saw it..the voices she recognized
Him
Gladiolus
"After all you did spend more time with us then your precious wife!" The woman flapped her hands posing dramatically. "Why did you even marry her in the first place? I feel bad for her because she seems so kind"
"I love he-" He said before Keir snapped "Do you really love her? or do you love that she'll stay by your side no matter what?" Keir tapped her chin looking at him grinning "What?" He looked at her dumbfounded "You've broken that woman don't you realize that? you're sick do you really think she still loves you." Keir continued
"Of course she doesn't even know about Pae!?" He growled, making the woman roll her eyes "Okay!"
"I knew you were insane, I should've killed you ages ago" Gladiolus spat pushing Keir away from him startling her 'killed me ages ago?' Keir thought staring at Gladiolus for a moment "Kill me?? what would Pae think of that." Keir spat "You think killing me would suddenly make her fall in love with you??" the woman smiled again. swiftly shoving the man off the cloud hitting the ground hard.
Tai gasped softly as she saw her husband fall off the cloud hitting the ground "Oh no.." she whispered but didn't move from her spot she couldn't believe it he thought she was just dumb that she didn't know he played her like a fool!
Keir smiled and looked back where Tai hid before she dashed down to Gladiolus, wrapping her hands around his neck not bothering to give him a warning and squeezed tightly "Annoyed, really annoyed. I'm the one that should be saying that." She said seriously her eyes widened, staring at the man like an owl. Gladiolus struggled in her grasp silently starting to panic.
"You should've been dead first before the rest of these rotten basterds, you're the problem here, this is your fault!" Keir yelled, squeezing tighter, lifting up his head slightly slamming it back down into the ground.
Gladiolus stared at Keir wide eyed as she continued on "all your fault your fault your fault!" she yelled "if you'd just get away if you'd just stop messing around.." she kept squeezing as hard as she could
"You ruined everything..you messed everything up" The woman shook her head, "If I..I was wrong..we were going to give you another chance.." Gladiolus spat out clawing her arm digging his nails into her skin
"I never wanted a chance, I never wanted any of this!" Keir yelled back ignoring the pain in her arm continuing to squeeze. Tai stared down at Keir, baffled at her words and his words 'What are they talking about??' Tai got up to jump down to stop Keir but an arrow shot her in her shoulder making her wince in pain "W..What the hell?"
"Tai!, what are you doing here?" Pae asked, aiming her bow at her ready to shoot "The truth.." Tai mumbled pulling out her sword "Truth? that your husband is an asshole?"
Tai shook her head "That this wouldn't have happened if he'd never met you." she dashed toward her friend. She didn't know why she was fighting her. Pae jumped up coming close to Tai tripping her quickly pulling out an arrow stabbing it into her back. Tai clenched her jaw shut.
Quickly she bit her wrist making her yelp in surprise. What was she doing?
Pae her friend her friend only friend
Tai grabbed her sword stabbing Pae in her leg slapping her bow out her hands "Wh-" was all Pae could mumble before she stumbled back on the cloud landing softly on her back Tai got on top of her tears flowing down her face "Lady..T I thought we were friends" Pae muttered as blood flowed down from her mouth coughing up blood
"I hate you. I hate you more.." Tai smiled painfully "I hate this" she continued to smile "this is your fault..if you'd only stayed away. of only you'd stop messing around with him" Tai sobbed slamming her fist on Pae's face
"This could've been avoided!" Tai yelled slamming her hands on her face again "I don't..I don't want to kill my friend" slowly she stopped looking at Pae she looked dazed her face was bloody her nose was bleeding but she could hear her soft rough breaths
"I'm sor..sorry for everything" Pae mumbled out her voice low and gravely "What?" Tai wondered before something hit the back of her head knocking her out cold "Creator!" an angel dashed toward her hugging Pae tightly "What are you doing here??" Pae looked down at the trembling teen hugging her tightly "I handled everything. Keir told me to come get you" She responded quickly pulled Pae up and kicking Tai off the cloud
"Wh- No!" Pae reached out to catch Tai softly touching her skin but it slipped out of her grasp "Shit! No nonno" Pae panicked flinching when she heard her hit the ground.
The loud crash in the ground made both Gladiolus and Keir flinch; he was out of her grasp now he looked like horrible hand marks around his neck. Keir looked like she'd seen better days but regardless still looked better then him. "Alright now that your wife is dead you're next" The woman pulled out her gun shooting him in his chest then shot him again hitting his leg. Gladiolus fell down in shock 'My wife..dead?' He looked around for her his neck hurt, his leg felt like it was burning but he crawled around for her.
finally he'd found her. She had an arrow shot in her back and her head was bleeding. "My love.." he whispered to her "Shut up." she responded absently not bothering to glare at him she was tired.
"You're alive?? Hun you have to save us" Gladiolus begged tears welling up in his eyes now Tai looked at him for a moment before looking back up at the sky. "Why should I save you?" she asked softly her vision blurring from the blood dripping down
"I'm your husband and I love you!" He said immediately "Liar you love her you don't love me" Tai closed her eyes it hurt to close them but she ignored that painful feeling "I just wanted someone to love me.." she whispered to herself feeling everything slowly getting hotter 'A star? have the stars come to save me?'
She opened her eyes to see something large and round, bright and beautiful like a star. "Save me..please save me I just wanted to touch the stars" she muttered tears spilling out
Tai hoped someone heard her, she hoped her prayers would be answered and she wanted to be saved. she didn't get her happy ending. It can't be over for her it can't be over.
Nobody came. No one came to her rescue. She felt her body get hotter and hotter than nothing. She heard nothing, she did lie
She didn't come to save her.
