Cas received the call near 11:30. He was finishing a slideshow for his history class. When he saw it was Dean who was calling, he picked it up and put the phone on speaker.
"Hello Dean."
"Hey Cas." Usually when Dean called, they talked about anything they could. What tv shows were on, things that happened in class, the newest escapades from Cas's brothers, things like that.
"Have you seen another cowboy movie?" Cas heard Dean let out a laugh from the other end and then smiled in satisfaction. He loved when he could make Dean laugh or smile.
"No. Not today Cas. I was wondering what color tie I should wear to prom." Prom was three weeks away and it was the buzz of the school. Cas still wasn't sure whether he wanted to go or not.
"I don't know Dean. Why are you asking me?"
"We have to match Cas. Lisa told me. If we're going together, we have to wear matching tie colors." Cas became confused. Since when were him and Dean going to prom together? Did he miss something?
"Dean."
"Yeah Cas?"
"We're going to prom together?" The other line went silent. "Dean?"
"Shit. I forgot to ask you." Cas started smiling to himself. He thought of going with Dean to prom but never had the guts to ask him. "You know what? Forget it Cas. God I'm an idiot."
"What? No Dean. I'll go to prom with you." The line went quiet again. Cas wondered if he did something wrong. "Dean?" No reply. "Dean are you there?" Still no reply. "Are you okay?"
"I'm better than okay! This is great! This is better than great! This is awesome!" Cas didn't think it was possible to smile any wider than he was.
"We should plan, Dean."
"I'll come over." Cas looked at the clock. 11:46. His mom would kill him if Dean walked through their door now. Luckily, Cas had a window.
"Okay. Come to my window when you get here."
"Romantic Cas."
"Shut up Dean." He heard Dean let out a laugh from the other end. "Now hurry."
"Alright, alright. See you in a bit then."
"Bye Dean." Cas quickly contemplated adding a quick little thing before he hung up. He went with it. "I love you."
"I love you too Cas."
