Work Text:
Lee Know sighed as he and Hyunjin dropped their shopping bags in the living room of Lee Know’s dorm. The two maknaes were off at karaoke, the September twins were off doing fun shopping, and Changbin and Chan were working on a project at the studio. The second oldest had decided that this was the perfect time to restock snacks and essentials and Hyunjin had been gracious enough to come help his hyung.
The older dancer separated out the snacks meant for the other dorm as well as the restocks of shampoo and conditioner (so they wouldn’t use Hyunjin’s expensive hair treatments), toilet paper, and dish soap before handing them to Hyunjin to take back to his dorm. The other boys were in charge of keeping their dorm neat (though no one mentioned when it had clearly been cleaned with none of the four inhabitants of that dorm doing it) and Lee Know took charge at his dorm which, to start, meant needing to do laundry.
He was glad that the younger members in his dorm, while not the tidiest always, were pretty good about getting their laundry in the appropriate place and had even stripped and remade their beds before leaving in the morning so the dancer only had to grab the bedding left out for him to take to the washing machine. He had run a load of clothes before he went shopping so those got dumped into a clean bin while he loaded the machine with the new load.
Neither dorm had a dryer, but Minho was used to that and so he carried the basket of clean, albeit wet, clothing out to the balcony. As the dancer began to hang up the bigger items of clothes (shirts, pants, and jackets) on the rack, he chuckled at the sheer amount of hoodies that he knew belonged to Chan and Changbin that had made their way into the dorm and envisioned the almost hostage negotiation that the two rappers would have to undergo with Felix and Seungmin to get the jackets back. It would inevitably end with an exchange: Chan and Changbin would get the clean jackets back and Felix and Seungmin would get their worn hoodies and the cycle would continue to repeat.
Before he brought the basket inside to hang up the underwear and socks on the rack in there, he carefully inspected the plants Felix had been growing on the balcony. Their balcony at the old dorm hadn’t been nearly big enough for any of this and so with the bigger space, the younger Australian had decided to fill it with color and living things. Minho was leaving it all up to Felix to do, it was his project after all, but he did check on the plants pretty regularly, sometimes watering if it was needed but he was proud of the garden on the balcony.
Socks and underwear were easy to hang and Lee Know dropped the bin back on top of the washing machine before going back to his room to sort and distribute the mail. The gremlins he calls his dongsaengs end up dropping packages off in his room when they’re running in and out since it’s right by the entrance and so mailman ends up being another of his duties. He pulls out a letter his mom sent him (though it’s addressed to him from the cats, so it seems the cats had actually sent him the letter) and a package that Chan’s mom had warned him about. It had cute lunchbox things in it that she had found and thought he and the other boys would like. His mail got placed on his desk before he headed to the other bedrooms.
Minho placed a two long, thin boxes on Felix’s desk. He recognized the brand and that combined with the animal patterned package meant that it was probably the Australian animal themed keycaps that the dancer had been talking about for weeks. Apparently, all the money the company earned from the sale of this collection was going to help with animal rescue and rehabilitation from Australia’s wildfires and so Felix had decided that not only did he need a set but that he was going to sneak into Chan’s studio and replace his keycaps in there with the cute critters as well.
Next mail stop was Seungmin’s room where he gently placed down a box containing what was presumably new skincare on the dresser before turning and smiling at the bed that looked like Seungmin had lost his fight with his fitted sheet and decided to just throw all of his bedding on the bed. Minho huffed before easily getting the puppy-patterned fitted sheet onto the mattress before arranging the rest of the bedding the way he knew the second-youngest liked it. He even made sure to put the blanket his parents’ had gotten him at the top of the pile of spare blankets at the foot of the bed.
Jeongin’s room was the last and the dancer grimaced slightly as he placed the package on the bed. He recognized the company as the one their maknae frequently bought new clothes for his Skzoo plushies and he had to admit that he was always a little scared of what the Leebit one would end up wearing. Lee Know smiled as he picked up an obviously too big shirt off the floor, recognizing the shirt that belonged to Hyunjin that I.N. had very obviously pilfered. The shirt got draped over the desk chair before the dancer left the room.
Whenever the boys got home, they would probably overwhelm him with both volume and affection and Lee Know would grumble and threaten them like he always did. He may not be great at saying the words but every I love you his members told him, they knew his actions meant I love you too.
