Being taken for granted ...
Sonic The Hedgehog. A name that is born on everyone’s lips, the name you utter when you talk about a hero, a legend over the world, and never does he stop for more than a minute on the spot. Faster than the whirlwind, more robust than a tornado, a free runner with no goal in his mind, besides living life every day to its fullest, and of course a chilidog on the menu, no matter the occasion. A wind you can’t tame, a wind you can’t locate where its next destination will be.
“ SOOOONIC! ”
Yes, of course, many would call his name, just the way this female was doing, reclaimed herself since the young age of being the future girlfriend by his side, the mother to his future kids and god knows what else, and the blue speedster froze in his spot, only to taste the grass soon enough, her bone-crushing hug from behind had knocked him off balance and ended them both in the grass itself. “ A—Amy, I ca–an’t brea–athe! ” , the poor blue hedgehog boy uttered beneath the strength of the rosy hedgehog female, those strong arms were engulfing his throat to nearly no chance of air could slip through. “ I got you now, Sonic! No chance that you can outrun Amy Rose! ” , she giggled, nuzzling her cheek against his while a happy expression was shown on her face, glad to finally catch the blue speedster as she always would when she got the final chance for it. “ A–Amy! ” , the poor hedgehog tried once more to gasp for air, leaving the rosy female to blink and loosen her grip a little, before sitting on top of Sonic with a low huff. “ You can’t escape me now, Sonic! ” , she added as the other sighed under his breath, tapping the gloved fingers along the grassy surface as he was in deep thoughts of how to get away from this female like always. If only Tails would call or something … — As if on a cue from above, his wristwatch blinked, and the blue speedster almost singsong his relief for having such a stroke of luck.
“ Ta–ails, what’s up? ” , his voice sounded almost relieved in a way, making the twin-tailed kitsune on the other line pause for a moment before he spoke in return. “ Hi Sonic, uh am I interrupting something? ” , Tails added, only for Sonic to respond, but Amy was faster. “ In fact, you are, Tails! I was just getting Sonic to take me on that date he promised me a week ago! ” , the rosy hedgehog huffed with arms crossed over the chest as she eyed the blue speedster, making him sweatdrop slightly. ‘ Ah crap … I forgot about that promise … ’ , Sonic thought before the kitsune on the other line cleared his throat and sounded a little unsure but decided to talk either way. “ Oh… um … well my locator picked up an odd vibe and thought we could take a look at —” , but Tails wasn’t able to finish his words as Sonic suddenly stood up, a wide grin on his muzzle, and tapped back on the watch of his wrist. “ Oh yeah, see you in five, Tails! ” , he added and took off, leaving the rosy female to land on her butt in the grass before she whined. “ SOOONIC!! ” , making the speedster shout back before he was all gone in a flash. “ SORRY AMES, BUT TAILS NEEDS ME! ” , as Amy sighed under her breath before running a hand through her quills. “ Hmph, there he goes again, running off from me! Ugh… who am I kidding? I can’t stay mad at him that long either way. My love for him grows only stronger for every breath I take each day.” , she finished with a low sigh of admiration, watching the trail where her beloved crush had rushed off to with a happy smile on her face.
After the return back from the search with the Tornado in use and Tails as the pilot, Sonic jumped off the plane when it landed by the workshop of his sidekick’s garage door and stretched on the legs, making the kitsune of twin-tailed tails push the goggles up on his head and rub his neck a little. “ I know it's not my business but Sonic, you should tell Amy straight how it is between you two already ” , Tails added as the blue hedgehog paused his stretching exercise and turned the head over to his companion by the yellow plane, and shrugged the shoulders. “ There is nothing going on between her and me, Tails. It's all her own heart-shaped dreams she is trying to live out, nothing else. ” , Sonic added as the yellow fox frowned a little but jumped out of the plane as he gave the left wing a soft stroke with the hand. “ Then tell her already Sonic, giving her false promises of dates and all that isn’t nice, and you know it as well ” , Tails added before giving him a silent look of even daring to argue against him now, he did know his close friend after all.
The blue hedgehog male sighed before the green eyes slide down to his red white sneakers and nodded. “ Yeah, you’re right Tails … but I still don’t want to lose her you know, we have a great friendship after all ” , Sonic added as the kitsune nodded before passing his plane and heading for the garage gate to open it up and restock the Tornado inside as always, leaving the blue blur in deep thoughts of what to do about the cheerful and bubbly rosy friend of his after all. Giving her false hopes wasn’t nice and he wasn’t the kind of guy who toyed with others' feelings, but Amy was one of his closest friends he had as a girl. Sure there was Cream, but she was more a child than a teenager, and then there was Rouge but that bat was probably half friend, half enemy in some points so he couldn’t be quite sure where that bond was standing between him and the vicious batgirl, to be honest. Vanilla was elder, but more of the mother kind, so it was outcounted about having a close friendship bond with her.
Sonic kicked a small pebble by the ground as he placed his hands behind his head for a moment before sighing. Tails always had a point in his words, and this conversation had struck a nerve in his focus, leaving the blue blur to silent admit defeat and rush off to the place he had to face now or later before the ending of this day unless he didn’t want to taste the sweetness of her hammer the next day of course. Reaching Amy Rose’s house wasn’t that tricky, mostly since he would end up leaving her on the porch sometimes after a fight with Dr. Eggman, or if he had rescued her and then taken her home to know she was safe and sound before he would take off for a nice run, unable to be still for more than a minute. The flowery welcome of the lovely garden toned up as the smell of roses and daisies filled his nose the moment he skidded to a stop at the staircase, taking a deep inhale as the hand lifted. He could do this, he had to do this, it was only fair for them both, after all. – One knock followed before a sweet voice called out from inside, only a few minutes passed as Sonic felt he wanted to run off, but before he got the chance, the door opened and revealed the rosy hedgehog female in person, blinking slightly at the sight of her crush by the doorsteps, before arms crossed over the chest and her happiness had fallen into a sour expression instead. Oh right, he stood her up earlier … Sonic scratched his left ear before nudging the tip of his shoe against the porch as an excuse to move but still be in the same spot.
“ Uh hi, Ames … can I come inside? ”, he carefully spoke, knowing the vicious of that red hammer could be brought out in any seconds now, pounding into his skull and be knocked out until next week, but somehow the female sighed and stepped to the side, leaving the door opened as she went back inside the house, and Sonic took that sign as an allowing to step inside, shutting the door quietly behind him. Amy’s house always had that pretty kind of design, the flowery pots by the near windows, a little one placed on the coffee table in her small living room, a few little paintings decorating the light purpled walls as a rug with a slight fluff was located near a small fireplace, giving you the vibe of a loving home. The purple lounge couch caught his eyes and the blue blur took a seat at it, knowing he couldn’t stand up all the time after all. “ What do you want, Sonic ” , Amy spoke, her voice holding a tired tone, almost as if she knew another excuse would slip his lips and he felt suddenly bad inside. Tails were absolutely right, he had to get this over with, and hopefully, they could remain friends, right? “ Uh, well… Ames I want to talk to you and I want you really listen this time, not saying a word until I’m finished, okay? ” , Sonic added, before he waved a finger at her. “ Also, no hammer in use, please. ” , leaving the rosy hedgehog to frown but nod, her arms still crossed over the chest.
‘ Okay… here we go... you can do this Sonic. ’ , he thought before the mouth opened, spoke words he barely could tell before, but now it was flowing from his tongue, trying to make sense for the female to hear as Amy did stay quiet the whole time, the hammer was never brought out as she promised, as Sonic exhaled some air. “ So … can we still be friends? ” , he finished, carefully glancing at the rosy female who in return had her eyes shut for a moment, leaving the blue blur to anxiety waiting for her answer until those emerald eyes were revealed and Amy nodded. “ Okay Sonic, we can be friends ” , she spoke, showing a forced smile, leaving the blue hedgehog male in shock for a moment, only relief washed over him and he stood up fast. “ Uh–Ah so –so great then! Well, I won’t keep you awake any longer, sleep tight Ames! ” , Sonic managed quickly, before he suddenly sped out from the house, leaving the rosy female hedgehog in the tumult his wind had caused and silent tears dripping down her cheeks, yet the still the same false smile on her face. “ … yeah, … just … friends…”
