Work Text:
It's one of those nights, that are far too cold for comfort. Aster send Eiden, although he protested, out to gather mushrooms, and Kuya, as usual, refused to be of any help.
The only one he felt like asking for help was Quincy, but he was…well…not the most talkative today.
In front of him a small campfire crackles as it burns the wood, and little sparks fly away, as they glow and cool out the further they fly. Topper thought that Eiden´s lap would be the perfect place to lie down, to his surprise.
His soft tail brushes against his belly, as he gives him a very light head pat.
One last bit of food burns over the fire, and Quincy in front of him picks it off.
“How can you not freeze, when the temperatures drop like this?” Eiden asks and feels his arms cooling down. Being this close to the fire just warms his front, and leaves his back to the merciless cold.
Quincy just looks at him for a moment, and puts away the food. Eiden doesn't want to complain, because he already is allowed to stay with Quincy today.
“If it's too cold, take this.” Quincy throws him a blanket, which he gladly picks up and wraps himself in.
“Do you intend to sleep here outside today?”
“I did.” Short answers, as usual. Topper in his lap starts to move around, and peaks through the blanket.
“If you want to go elsewhere, it's fine.” Eiden tells Topper, but he curls himself up and enjoys the warmth inside the blanket wrap.
“You can sleep there.” Quincy points to his self-made tent. It will be enough to protect them from the wind or rain, if there will be any, but he is still mercilessly exposed to the cold.
“Could you…” Eiden stops mid-sentence. Should he ask him? He usually takes his distance, unless he is in the mood for closer contact. Well, nothing dared is anything won.
“Could you sleep with me tonight? Not like something sexual, but your body is big and warm, together with the blanket, I will absolutely not feel cold tonight.” he explains, looking a bit embarrassed.
Quincy pokes around the fire, the flames rising up once again as he adds more wood. The comforting warm is like a welcome embrace.
“Okay. But only this once.” Quincy answers, not even looking up, as he continues to fire up the little campfire.
The gem on his hand reflects every spark of the fire, as he moves his big hands steadily. Quincy's body must take a lot of work to keep like that, but today Eiden simply appreciates the warmth and probably tight hug he can get.
“I will wait inside the tent, then. Take your time.” Eiden turns his back on him and slips back into the tent. Inside it doesn't feel exactly comfortable, but this is outside camping, and he can't be picky. A large, burly man is coming to warm him up, so the scales are pretty even.
Topper jumps off Eiden and makes his way into one corner of the tent, watching Eiden as he throws himself onto the makeshift bed. The blanket is already very cozy, warming him up and making him feel a bit drowsy.
The moment the tent entrance opens and a waft of cold wind follows, he is abruptly woken up again.
“The fire will keep ups lit and a bit of warmth for two more hours.” Quincy explains and slips inside. Suddenly it's much tighter, almost cramped inside here.
Eiden watches him, peaking up under his blanket, as Quincy lays down next to him, waiting for his partner to cover him as well. There is the smell of burnt wood in Quincy's soft hair, and a bit of cold forest air lingering.
“How do you want to be covered? I can slide on over.”
“It's fine.” Quincy stretches out his left arm, making place for Eiden to make it himself pretty comfortable. On top of them, the blanket warms them, as they both wrap themselves into it to preserve the warmth.
“Will Topper be alright over there?”
“Yes, don't worry about him. He is a tough guy.”
Just like that, Eiden lies in Quincy's arm, in a spoon position, with his back turned to him. He can feel the man's strong chest muscle rest against his back, and feel the heartbeat only ever so slightly.
On his head, he can feel every breath of him slightly brushing over his hair. The other hand rests somewhere on his hips, sending warmth into his body.
It is so easy, to fall asleep like that. A warm, calm, peacefulness starts to envelop their minds.
“How about you tell me a story?” Eiden asks, his words almost don't reach Quincy as he is sandwiched between his big body and a blanket.
“You are too noisy, of course you can't sleep like that.” Quincy answers, and stops brushing over his hair. “No, please continue. This is very nice.”
He does as asked, sending a strange comforting feeling throughout his body and warming his heart.
“Are you alright like this?” Eiden asks, as he tucks the blanket under their feet. No cold allowed in here.
Quincy's look is the answer he needed, he just looks at him with a serious stare, but his gentle touch conveys a different meaning. “I stop talking already.”
“Good.” The blonde man just answers, and his head leans in closer to Eiden´s forehead. His breath softly brushes over his forehead. Combined with the soft blanket, Quincy's warm body, and the hand always brushing over his head, they lull him more and more to sleep.
“Good Night.” Eiden almost didn't understand him mumbling, but it was definitely Quincy brushing through his hair, as he wished him a good night.
“You too.” the young man answers, and grabs the hand that rested on his hip. The big hand covers his own, and they intertwine their fingers.
It all is just bliss, and hopefully they can repeat being like that more often. With maybe a bit less cold weather outside, are the last thoughts passing through his mind, as finally sleep catches up with both of them.
