Sitting on a Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

Summary:

Diluc is about to take down a Hilichurl camp but someone he likes shows up coincidentally and he approached this person despite the fact that he is there for the tree and not Diluc.

Notes:

I apologize in advance if it felt like out of character especially on Diluc's character :(

Work Text:

It was a very clear skied evening when Venti has decided to visit the oak tree he always stays close with. It has been months since he last showed up. Not even the brightest of the stars in the lovely evenings in the past does he show presence nor his music can be heard anywhere within the walls of Mondstat.

It wasn't until this day 1:00 am, Diluc has left the tavern and prepares to strike the newly built Hilichurl camp as he heard from yesterday from those he destroyed. As much as he is not caught, or will he ever be, he never misses a single spot of information he needs to strike.

Diluc swiftly runs and takes down the Slimes that is blocking his path with a single strike from his weapon and blazing alight striking then down with fear crawling around them making the Slimes escape.

"That should do it!" Diluc says convinced that nothing will cease him of his objective from this evening.

Or he thought so?

How sweet is the breeze

That makes you go sneeze

I hope you don't tease

Or else you will freeze

But hey look over there

A pretty man tall and fair

Oh hey he's worth the stare

Seeing me here, does he care?

If he sees me would he care?

Venti sings to himself as he saw the red haired owner of the tavern he always orders wine from. He never thought he would see Diluc again after the days they spent one night.

Diluc looks to his right upon hearing the beautiful tune. He knows the instrument used is truly familiar to his ears. And so, he approached the oak tree with floating seelies and fireflies around the evening meadow and crosses the waters surrounding. Sweet flowers, Calla lilies and Windwheel Asters are dancing to the east as the wind blows smoothly. Diluc finds the mood really soothing from the music to the weather and to the ambiance of the area at night. It doesn't feel scary nor different from how the tavern is in the evening.

"I wasn't expecting you here?" Diluc says as a greeting to the bard under the huge tree.

Venti chuckles and smirks. "I don't think that is how you greet someone who slept with you before Master Diluc." He calls Diluc as Master Diluc to tease him a little.

"Y-Yeah I remember that. Okay. Okay. . ." Diluc crosses his arms and slowly looks away from Venti. It suddenly reminded him of how much he liked the touch of the god.

Venti chuckles and stands up from one of the roots he is sitting on. Then he puts down his lyre. "Oh come on I am just kidding. A friend who remembers will always get the fun in embarrassment." Venti really likes teasing Diluc.

Diluc can't help but blush. Remembering on how much he loved Venti's touch and lips just-- well he almost forgot his objective.

"L-Listen, I have somewhere else to go so. . ." Diluc wants to leave because of the embarrassment.

"Oh? Is that so? Is it my fault you stopped over here right now?" Venti continues the fun.

"N-No. It's just that. . . the place seems so peaceful here and it's weird that I only heard the music lately after these Slimes ran away from me." Diluc told the truth though.

"I have been playing the lyre for half an hour already. And you have been fighting those creatures not so long ago that I changed my lyrics into what I just saw." Venti smiles and approaches Diluc and looking up at him.

"Well. . . I sincerely apologize for that." Diluc looks away from the adorable eyes of the shorter male and puts a hand behind his head.

Venti chuckles as he saw the red haired male feel sorry for putting a change in his song because of his valiant effort.

"What are you apologizing for you hero? What you did just made the song better in my opinion. I am running out of the ideas to add for having a cooler breeze compared to yesterday." Venti says while looking around the place and tries letting a firefly land on his palm.

"Well it's because of the Abyss Mage who specializes cryomancy or Ice Magic." Diluc added and agreed of the colder eveninf yesterday. "Their plan yesterday is to freeze the waters of Mondstat and attack in all fours but-- I interrupted them. Luckily, the last Outrider in the Knights of Favonius, she almost saw me somehow. Well she called for reinforcements which got the job done" Diluc specifying what happened.

"So let me guess, it was suppose to be an easy job and a stealth mission only by you since none of the Knights knew about this but instead of taking the slay level to a hundred percent, the Knights came in action and took a percentage of your plans to destroy the Cryo Mages surrounding the radius about to be frozen wholely? Correct?" Venti spoils the plan.

"Wait, how did you--?" Diluc paused and then thought. "Are you watching me closely?" Diluc looks closely at Venti. "Hold it, do you know that I'm the Darknight Hero?" Diluc kneels down and closer talking to Venti. "The stupid name the civillians coined to me?" Diluc holds on both of Venti's shoulders looking like he is in panic though his face is still serious but trembling.

"AHAHAHA! Relax!" Venti grins as he got Diluc real good.

"So what now?" Diluc asks with a little doubt.

"It's safe with me don't worry. As if I will tell Jean of your heroic secret. I mean, we even have our dirty little secret too remember?"

Diluc is successfully teased by the little bard which keeps him red and flustered. If not for his objective, he might be already aroused and ready to go for a quickie.

"Listen. It is important that no one knows okay?" Diluc asks Venti to keep it confidential.

"In one condition." Venti being a sneaky bitch.

"But-- but--" Diluc doesn't know what to do because Venti got him so good. If only Venti sucks at flustering Diluc but sadly, Diluc just loses.

"I want you to--"

"Free drinks?" Diluc speaks ahead. "I hope that will do correct?" Diluc really wants the identity unspilled. "All the wine you want. Even those of the people of Liyue order from me." Diluc kept chattering.

"Calm down. I don't plan on taking all of your drinks you." Venti laughs of what Diluc is acting on. It seems like Venti is amused of the man in front of him who is still kneeling in front of him.

"But. . ." Diluc is out of words and is a bit worried. Though the flustered face has vanished, he is worried of the guys he hit on before would ask for something even harder to give as bargain for his secret kept veiled.

"My condition is. . ." Venti is making it intense.

Dilic is listening closely.

"Is. . ." Venti making it more intense.

"Just say it." Diluc wants it done. "Please?" He begged calmly out of no where looking at Venti's innocent eyes.

"I want you to take me out every evening you are free." The condition is unexpected.

"Wh-What?" Diluc wasn't expecting that.

"You, me, let's go out together" Venti looks at Diluc in his very window and into his soul. He shows interest of the Darknight and makes him sit. "Well not like the I go with you to fight those Hilichurls kind of date. I like it if it's just you and me y'know." Venti is the expressive type which is the reason why he looked a little shy asking Diluc to ask him out on a date.

Venti didn't like seeing Diluc kneeling to him. He doesn't like people kneeling to him like he is a brutal and abusive god. As he says those words, Diluc looked dense because he really thought ge would've turned into someone being controlled but turns out, it is an act of proposal for hin to propose a date to Venti.

"Yeah. Well. I actually wanted to ask you out." Diluc got his confidence back and the serious face turned into a smile with fondness towards the bard.

"Oh I know that face. You're trying to sneak up on me and and get me flustered like I did to you." Venti thought wrong since Diluc isn't even thinking of getting back at him with the same method he used.

"Huh?" Diluc almost snickered and is a bit confused since he has no ill intentions tog rt back at Venti but. . .

"Using my methods won't work on me. And rest assured that you won't succeed with me doing that." Venti confidently spoken like a politician with his arms crossed and proud.

Diluc feels safe of Venti of what he said and he is glad Venti is just like the Venti he talked to back in the tavern. He liked Venti being like this. As much as his tease works on Diluc, Diluc wants to know more of how fun Venti is.

Which is why he did what slipped in his mind.

Venti kept on talking about himself being immovable and unstoppable but one move made him shut up.

Diluc moves frontwards and didn't hesitate on pressing his lips on the talking bard. He lasted it for a short while and smiles as he moves away. He saw how successful he got Venti blushing. Venti didn't see it coming.

"Yo-- You're-- you're unfair." Venti says with a blushing face and looking away from the handsome man.

Diluc chuckles as he didn't expect a soft, sweet kiss would get Venti cornered. He also blushes but looking at Venti who has gone redder, he rather stays close and goes sweeter by nuzzling his nose to the other male and both closing their eyes feeling their summits rubbing.

"Who would've thought an average way to express love and affection would be the perfect piece to make the Anemo god and God of Freedom incredibly flustered?" Dilic starts teasing Venti.

Venti didn't like getting teased and losing in a tease moment so he did the same which left Diluc open.

Diluc grew his eyes as Venti kisses him back and invades his mouth seductively with his tongue. Diluc liked how Venti does it and kisses him back with little moans. Diluc lost control and got Venti lying on the cold ground and still caressing Venti's lips and rubbing his hand on the soft flesh rising to the thighs and up to the knee.

Suddenly, the two stopped sharing their love and affection when they heard some shrieks from the Hilichurls and the explosion probably done by the Traveler.

"Well. I think that's your cue." Venti smirks and raised an eyebrow at Diluc who is into him but stops as he gets back to going on his objective.

"Right!" Diluc gets it back together and looking at Venti, he giggles as he saw the smirking little jerk teasing him again. "For a little guy, you're not so bad of a kisser."

"Duh! We did this before remember? And also. . ." Venti winks at Diluc. ". . . I may look this little but down here isn't as little as you think. Remember how this made you beg for me so much?" Venti kept going. "And you know I don't just perform good in singing and songwriting, I also perform good in mating a pretty boy like you handsome."

Diluc clears his throat as he is reminded of how good Venti is.

"Well then. . . wait for me here?" Diluc looking at Venti in the eyes.

Venti is silent for the meantime and gazing at how valorous looking Diluc is.

"That's if you get back in time after I finish the song I am making. But yeah, I knkw you will make it but I doubt you will get back before I leave this tree." Venti betting on Diluc not making it in time.

"Oh heck yeah that's a challenge." Diluc is in for a challenge.

"Then be here early."

"If I do, you better get yourself prepared. I wanna feel you again!" Diluc says before looking away and going.

Venti heaves a light sigh and looks at Dikuc as he leaves and swiftly moves into the trail and defeat the evildoers.

"I will wait for you here, my Diluc." Venti says in his mind and delighted.

At last, the night of a knight and a god ended with good terms but then seeing each other again in the same night is yet to be told. Not a sign of the gale blows north nor do the blaze of the unidentified hero is caught by the Knights of Favonius. It has been indeed a night for the Knight and the God to express their interest in one another. A night where their promise to meet again never happened on the same place in the same time.
