Work Text:
Link found himself standing behind his castle, glaring at the stone in front of him as he heaved in a breath. He inhaled sharply and slashed at the stone again, letting out a silent cry.
He had a fucking promise to keep, and these forsaken goddesses were in his way!
He wielded the master sword and kept striking the stone, gritting his teeth as parts of the sword began to clip away.
The hero let out a bitter laugh, of course the blade of legend was *breaking* because it was being hit against a weak stone.
What a piece of garbage. Some legendary blade this was.
He swung again and grit his teeth, continuing to strike the stone as if it would do something to help him. As if it would do him any good, as if it would bring back his Lorulean counterpart.
Link threw the sword and dug his hands into his hair, giving it a sharp tug. Warm tears rolled down his cheeks, and the hero couldn’t decide if he wanted to sob or scream and curse out the goddesses.
He collapsed to his knees and lifted his head to the sky, screaming at the top of his lungs. His throat burned, aching as it begged him to stop. He ignored it, though, spewing insults towards them as loud as he could.
His job was over, the hero's job was over, he just wanted to bring Ravio home.
When his voice gave out, the hero hunched over and let out a shaking sob, his body trembling as he held himself as tight as he could. Link felt weak, empty as he sat there and sobbed to no one.
He had been at this for months, why would the goddesses change their mind for him now? They needed their puppet, their chosen knight.
Link felt his hand start to burn and he shakily let go of himself to look at his hand, watching as the triforce of courage glowed bright on his palm. Slowly he was forced to his feet and dragged to the stone.
The blonde scoffed, “There’s nothing here- What are you doing Farore? Making me c-”
Link’s lips fell shut as the crack in the stone began to glow a familiar dark people and blue. He felt his heart stop and he stepped back, watching as he glowed brighter and brighter.
And through the crack came his counterpart, Ravio.
The blonde stood there, stunned, as the raven haired boy groaned and rubbed at his head.
Forest green met sky blue and the two moved without thinking, wrapping their arms around each other as they began to cry.
Ravio cupped Link’s cheeks and laughed, kissing all over his face with a weak cry, “I thought I’d never see you again, Mr. Hero-!”
Link laughed and managed to nod in agreement, before he lifted Ravio up and spun him. The Lorulean squeaked and clung to the blonde’s shoulders, the duo laughing as they slowly fell back into each other's embrace.
The duo laid there, not caring how dirty they got as they cuddled up to one another, finally feeling complete again.
