Chapter Text
Nobara is pretty sure the first time she met you, you tried asking her on a date. Well, yeah. Who wouldn’t want to go on a date with Nobara? She’s a beautiful girl, with a great personality, she sets herself up pretty neat, and she always makes sure that she gets out of her room with confidence in her walk.
She’s absolutely charming!
Unfortunately, you are not her type. She made sure to tell you that the second she met you.
“Be happy, boys. I’m the woman in your group.”
The pink-haired boy was the first to greet her. “I’m Itadori Yuuji. I’m from Sendai.”
“I’m Fushiguro Megumi.” said the one with black spiky hair.
And then there’s you. Nobara couldn’t forget the way you smiled so confidently at her—it’s borderline annoying—stated your name, and then—
“Let’s go out together after this!”
Oh, ugh. So, so annoying. You pretty much just asked her to go on a date together. On the first meeting? With that smile?
Stare…
Not only was she surprised, but the boys beside you also looked at you funnily. Well, Itadori Yuuji looked at you funnily, but with a slightly bewildered smile, while Fushiguro Megumi looked at you with a… Nobara guessed it was a disgusted face.
Her first impression of Itadori Yuuji, he looks like a potato. The type of kid who eats his own boogers. Fushiguro Megumi. He introduced himself with only a name, she can’t stand high and mighty dudes. She also bet he likes setting oil-slicked gulls on fire.
You. Not really a good first impression to ask a girl out on the first meeting. She also can’t stand guys who think they are all that.
“She took one look and sighed.” Itadori Yuuji looked at you and then gave you a pat on the shoulder. “And that’s a no from her, I think.”
She also knows that she isn’t really your type too. Since after all that, you both became practically best friends, and that is the only time you ever asked her to go out, in that way.
Nobara rolls her eyes as she remembers how you only shrugged with that smile of yours in reply to Itadori’s way of consoling. She looks at you beside her, sprawling over the grass with hands behind your head. You look completely relaxed for someone who just got his ass thrown around by their upperclassmen.
“Your head good?” Your eyes meet hers with that same permanent smile of yours. She snorts when you brought a hand up to make a so-so gesture.
“Could be better if I had ice cream, right about now.” Says you.
Itadori’s head perked up at the mention of the frozen dessert. His previously lying down position at your right is now sat up straight. The only thing that is running through his mind is probably the thought of going to a convenience store to buy well-deserved snacks. After all that training with the second years, though, he just wants to lie down all day under the sun.
“Rock, paper, scissors! Loser goes to buy snacks and drinks!” He shouts to you and Nobara.
With a one, two, three! Your small group of three swings your hands to the front. Ignoring Fushiguro’s struggle as he trains with Maki.
What luck! Nobara prides herself on the game rock, paper, scissors. She always wins. Although some would say that she cheats with that dirty little trick she always uses on Itadori. This time she didn’t use it though!
Itadori won, too. Surprisingly. Both of them won by holding out a rock and you with scissors.
Both winners let out a shout that could be described as sports athletes winning a very big tournament. You sigh as you get up with a roll of your shoulders. “Ah, alright then. Guess I have to walk aaaall over to the convenience store alone, with maaany bags for you all.”
Nobara rolls her eyes at your over-dramatic complaint and the way you eye her when you mention bags. Itadori is still celebrating. (This is one of the first times he won, after all.)
“I’ll go too.” She squints her eyes as she looks at the figure shadowing her from the sun. Did Fushiguro Megumi just volunteer himself to do an errand with you? Huh.
Probably because Fushiguro doesn’t trust you to get the snacks he wants. Yeah, probably that. She almost pauses at the way Fushiguro’s eyes are still on you when he’s setting down his water bottle on the ground after a drink.
Okaaay, what was that?
Nobara’s head turns toward Itadori, wanting to know if the boy notices how weird it is to see the Fushiguro Megumi staring at you right now. The pink-haired boy doesn’t notice, though. He just stands up and pats your back. Listing the stuff he wants.
As both you and Fushiguro leave. Nobara doesn’t waste any time and talks to Itadori about her observation.
She found it pretty funny how you sometimes like to complain that you want to go out on a date with a girl someday. Although she would reply with a disappointed face, she hypes you up in discreet ways.
How she sends you a text when she sees a nice barista girl at a café. Gives a nice word behind your back to a girl when she sees the girl is looking your way with interest. (She would never admit that to your face, though.)
In the end, the girls ended up being great friends with you, and only friends. Nothing more. Like how Nobara ends up being your best friend.
Nobara admits that you are pretty attractive. She finds you annoying at times, and her first impression of you is not that good. But confidence does make you attractive. Still, though, she wonders how you completely miss scoring a girlfriend.
“Well, he does have a cute smile! I’m pretty sure he will find someone.” Itadori says after her huge talk. (Of course, leaving out how she thinks you are a good-looking guy.)
Oh, God. Suddenly Nobara laughs. Full out laughing, tears in her eyes, hand on her tummy as Itadori raises his eyebrow, confused.
Ah, suddenly Nobara gets it. Now, she knows. And you are totally clueless.
Even though you sometimes complain about wanting to date a girl, you kept on pulling guys instead!
