It was one thing to know that he was having an affair. It was a different type of hurt to witness the act. Standing quietly in the doorway, you watch them grind against each other. The way he buried his face in her neck and raked his hands over her back, he never touched you like that. Why couldn’t you look away?
It only solidified what you knew. Doffy would never be yours alone. Your breath silently hitched when Doflamingo glanced over her shoulder to see you. The sick smile etched across his face at your pained expression turned your stomach upside down. He made no effort to stop his actions. That was when you had enough. You had only stopped by his office to see if he needed anything from the market. Clearly, he had all that he needed. You could not will yourself to shed tears as you fled the palace and went straight to the market.
You were absolutely numb. Would he care if you never returned? He would. Yet, it had nothing to do with him loving you. It would be out of his constant desire to control you that he would destroy countries and dominate the seas to find you and place you back at his side. Wandering absentmindedly, you were a shell of yourself as you went about the streets of Dressrosa. Baby 5 had somehow found you to keep you company. Of course, he had sent her to keep watch over you. His attempt to ensure you would not do anything foolish.
Hours and hours went by before you and Baby 5 returned home. You had missed the family meeting, but at least you would be alone. The idea of being alone shattered when you entered the palace to be greeted by Doflamingo. He had never been home this early. The massive man had the nerve to greet you with a kiss. Fighting the urge to vomit, you allowed his affection.
“I take it that you enjoyed yourself,” he said, “You’ve been gone for hours.”
That is when you noticed that it was indeed dark outside. Had you been that out of your wits?
“Have you had dinner?”
“I’m not hungry, Doffy.”
Anger bubbled in your chest. How could he act as if you had not caught him in the middle of the ultimate betrayal earlier? You watched him make his way to the dining area with everyone else before you went to your shared chambers. Still, no tears would form in your eyes. Your movements were the same as they were every night. You freshened up and slipped into your nightwear. The bed was welcoming as you lay on your side to stare out of the window.
Stars littered the sky, but your attention wasn’t solely on them. The image of him caressing her and holding her so close was all you could see. He dared to make eye contact with you while inside of another woman? Later, you felt the bed sink when Doffy joined you. His side had been cold for weeks, but his warmth soon engulfed the sheets and you. He lay behind you and placed butterfly kisses on your exposed shoulder. That’s when the tears decided to come. Where you once adored his touch, it now painfully burned. His breath fanning over your skin didn’t make you smile anymore. Doflamingo continued to shower kisses over your skin when he noticed your tears.
“Why?”
“Why not,” he laughed, “Maybe I'll let you join next time.”
You lay there stiff as he held you in his arms. His words echoed in your mind with the images of his infidelity. Did you truly mean so little to him?
