Work Text:

"Sophie, sweetheart, stop," Benedict called, leaning against the doorframe.

“I’ve just got a couple more batches then I’ll join you.” Sophie called, measuring icing sugar, her natural hair already wrapped up in a scarf--the most colourful one they had found in Camden market.

“Soph…”

“Ben…” she whined back in dreadful imitation. She shot him a smirk over her shoulder that did not match the alertness in her eyes.

“ I know you’re stress-baking, Soph, but you need to come to bed. Let me help you get to sleep.”

Sophie didn’t seem to hear the insinuation.

“For the last time, Ben, I’m fine. I just need to finish these for the café as I shall not be there tomorrow. Oh, and I’ve managed to make some of those walnut brownies your brother, Colin, likes—” she continued rattling off various bakes she’d made for every sibling she would meet tomorrow, and Benedict’s heart twinged. Not at the obvious thoughtfulness of her gesture, but that his little invitation to Bridgerton Sunday lunch had sent her spiralling. The exact reason he had been hesitant to introduce her officially—his family always crowded into his life; he couldn’t bear for it to happen to her.

“Are you coming to bed?”

“No.”

“Sophie, bed. Now.”

Sophie turned around, arms crossed and at any other time he would praise her for standing her ground, just as he encouraged her to take command in bed. But right now…

“Come over here and make me," she challenged.

*~*~*

In a moment his lips were on hers, so passionately that it stole her breath. When she managed to gasp for air he started a torrent of kisses that she could barely keep track of—on her cheek, her eyelids, behind her ear, or on her neck; all Sophie could do was pant and let her mind be blown. As he nipped her collarbone, he rolled his hips making her moans reverberate through the apartment, just as desire reverberated through her body.

Just as quickly he was gone. When Sophie caught her breath, she found him leaning against the doorframe again with a very satisfied smirk.

“Not fair, Bridgerton.” Sophie turned off the oven. “You better finish what you started.”

His eyes held a glinting light—a light of challenge and a light of love.

“Come over here and make me .”
