Work Text:
I’ve called Akito three times already… pick up please!
Kohane paced back and fourth at the train station. An and Toya had already made it to the cafe they were going to for lunch. The train would leave in ten minutes, if Akito didn’t get up soon, they’d miss it. She knew he’d be late.
Kohane was probably up past midnight yesterday, and who knows how long Akito was up for. Kohane had left the call when she noticed it was already eleven.
Kohane didn’t like being late. Rather awkward to explain.
Kohane’s phone rang. She held their phone to her ear.
“Sorry!! I was up late on call last night and just woke up. I’ll be there in fifteen.” spoke a mildly panicked Akito.
They were going to be late. Might as well text the group chat saying so.

Kohane put her phone back in their pocket, hoping An (Maybe Toya. He never checks the group chat though.) would reply. At least indirectly telling her it was fine.
Kohane walked over to the bench, and started playing a mindless mobile game. It felt like forever when she saw the lifesaving notification on their phone.

Phew. It was okay now.
Kohane saw Akito running towards them, the train would be here again soon.
“Kohane!! Heyyy!!” He shouted out, waving his arm over his head.
“Akito! You’re here!” She responded.
Kohane kissed him on the cheek, hugging him after. What a relief.
“Kohane? You good?” Akito asked. “Seems like something on your mind.”
“Oh no no, I’m fine! Let’s go!” Kohane replied. “The train’s here!”
—
They were lucky, and both got seats next to each other. It had been around five minutes on the train, when Akito interrupted their silence.
“Hey, Kohane.” Akito said.
Kohane seemed lost in their mind.
“Kohane!” Akito said, a little louder this time.
“Ah!! A-Akito. Hi, sorry, what is it? Sorry.” Kohane replied, panicked.
“No need to apologize, and, are you sure you’re alright?” Akito reassured.
Kohane almost started crying.
“I’m here for you, Toya’s there, An’s there. It's okay, Kohane. We’re all here.”
Akito wrapped his arms around them. At this point, Kohane is crying, trying to stifle her sobs to avoid bothering anyone. Face buried in Akito’s sweater, Kohane began to speak.
“I’m so worried, I’m so tired. I’ve hardly made any progress during practice, and I’m getting worse at photography as well, nothing feels satisfying. I keep working and working and nothing happens. I can hardly–”
“And that’s okay. It's okay to be tired and fall down for a little while. Just make sure to dust yourself off and get running again.”
“Akito?”
“We’re all here for you, now come on, get up. We’re almost there.”
Akito took Kohane’s hand. They got up from their seats and walked out the door of the train, and to the city. Sunlight flashed in Kohane’s face, which she blocked out with their hand. Akito giggled.
