Work Text:

Katsuki always thought there was only one other person besides him that was as smart as him. One person that was on the same level unlike the rest of the damn extras.

Well, that fucking thought changed in the last week.

Izuku was a blind fucking moron.

How could he not notice Katsuki’s advances?!

The only thing he hasn’t done yet is grab his stupid cute ass face and kiss him.

Katsuki had too much pride for that shit.

“He has to be blind.” Kirishima muttered to him as they both watched the certain greenette pick up the bento box and stare at it with wide emerald eyes. “Like really blind. That’s the fourth one this week and he doesn’t question who it’s from?”

Denki turned his head to look over his shoulder, “Dang and I thought I was stupid.”

“You are.” Sero laughed. “Midoriya is a different kind of stupid. He’s stupid in the romance department, your just plain stupid.” Sero teased.

Denki pouted, “Hey!”

The taller blonde snorted, “I don’t know. Deku is something else lately. Fuck hell, I even made bought him a new notebook since he was bitching about it. Nothing is what I got back.”

“This is too painful. You being too nice and Mido being too oblivious.” Denki groaned, laying his head on the table. “Just tell him.”

“If he ain’t acknowledging my flirtin—”

Sero slapped his hand down on the table, barking out a laugh, “Bakugo! That’s not flirting!”

“HAH?! Yes, it fucking is!” He retorted, annoyed.

The redhead shook his head, “Not really, bro. You still call him Deku and sometimes shitty nerd. What you need to do is call him Izuku or something cute and maybe he’ll get the hint with your ‘advances’ if that’s what we're calling your horrible flirting.”

Should he really up his game?

The fucking nerd is an amazing analyst so why can’t he see that he has damn feelings for him?! Katsuki grumbled under his breath and went back to eating his lunch as he thought up a plan.

And that plan was to make the nerd’s favorite food. Katsudon.

It’s not a hard meal to make, it’s just a pain in the ass to get the pork right and he be damned if it wasn’t perfect for Izuku. When dinner came, the nerd appeared, hair freshly washed with a towel around his neck. “Zuku.”

The one word he hadn’t said in ten plus years. Emerald eyes slowly met his scarlet ones. There was something behind those eyes but he couldn’t name it. Fuck. Someone could cut the tension in the air with a damn butter knife. “...Thanks... Kachan.” Izuku reached for the bowl like it was going to explode or something. “Actually... I’m not hungry.”

Katsuki watched him turn and leave the kitchen, leaving him dumb founded. “What the fuck...”

“Wow. Uh.” Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck. He was as lost for words as himself. “I think it was too strong.”

Uraraka rolled her brown eyes, “No! He’s just an idiot.”

“I agree.” Todoroki mumbled around a bite of food.

“This is becoming painful to watch...” Mina whispered.

Shinso sighed tiredly, “I’ve never seen two bigger idiots in my life. Midoriya takes the cake though. Holy. Shit. I’m about to mind control one of you to end this disaster.”

The blonde stared at the bowel of untouched food that was mocking him. What was he doing wrong?

Izuku looked up from the frog plushie he was hugging to his chest, “Asui... is he just making fun of me? Is he...”

The dark hair girl shook her head before pulling her shirt over her head. Asui already knew he was gay and he did catch her in the middle of coming back from the gym. “Izuku, you are only seeing the small picture when there’s a whole canvas to look at.”

This was the only person he felt comfortable know his deep secret. Izuku was in love with Katsuki but lately... he felt like the blonde boy was just making fun of him. Tonight proved it! Katsuki hadn’t called him Zuku since they were four. Was he just trying to soften him up to blast him into pieces?! Katsuki made him dinner—his favorite meal—and Izuku panicked. Was it laced with spice that would kill him?!

“Kero, he’s not out to get you!” Asui interjected. “He’s really not.”

  “You don’t know th—”

Dark eyes pinned him with a look... that he had no idea what it meant. “Izuku Midoriya. Answer me this. Who is at the top of the class?”

  “M-me...”

“Who has the top grades in the entire school?”

  “Me...” He whispered.

Asui waved her hand in the air, “Then why are you so stupid about this?” She asked bluntly. “You are the smartest person I know. You are smarter than most adults! And you don’t see it?!”

Izuku frowned, “What am I not seeing?” Really? What? Because the only thing he was seeing was the fact that Katsuki was trying to butter him up to bully him again and his heart can’t take that thought without shattering.

She sighed taking a moment to pull on her sleep shirt. “Kero, he’s in love with you.”

The greenette stared at her, his eyes slowly widened to a comically state. Katsuki... Bakugo... in love with him?! That’s some kind of sick joke! Katsuki must have found out his feelings and is just pretending and waiting to expose him. Yeah. That’s it.

“Izuku, you are not thinking in the right direction.” She sat down next to him, laying her head on his firm shoulder. “Bakugo loves you and what he’s doing is flirting.”

  “N-no! No, he’s not!”

“You don’t know what flirting is unless it Detroit Smashed you in the face. Even then I don’t know if you would get it.” Izuku stuck out his lower lip, mumbling under his breath. “Fine. Don’t believe me, Kero? Tomorrow is movie night in which you will take me as your date.”

Izuku wrinkled his nose. “But I love Kachan.” And only Kachan.

Asui smiled, “I know and that’s why you will hold my hand when we show up. I bet a certain blonde will storm from the room and that’s when you will follow him and ask him yourself.”

This wasn’t going to end well...

“Why the fuck am I here?!” Katsuki glared at his so called friend, crossing his arms over his chest. “I don’t want to be here!”

The redhead sighed softly, lifting his head to look at Katsuki. “Bro. You don’t need to sit and pout! We’re going to watch a movie, eat some shit and have a relaxing night.”

“Yeah! We’ll forget all about...” Denki started say something. Probably about Izuku but his words died as his eyes moved slightly past his head to something behind him.

Katsuki shouldn’t have looked. He should have looked at the TV and nothing else. But curiosity killed the cat and this time it stabbed him in the heart.

He turned his head and his eyes locked on the greenette. Cheeks pink. Chewing on his lip. Slowly he let his eyes look over his body and found a scarred hand intertwined with Asui’s fingers.

“Are you two dating?!” Mina blurted out the question everyone was dying to ask.

Asui stood up on her tip toes and whispered something in his ear. The blonde couldn’t take his eyes off their fingers. Holy shit... he was too damn late. Izuku was dating her.

Izuku. Was. Taken.

Those three words punched him in the chest, knocking the air from his lungs. “Fuck this...” He whispered, ignoring the cracking in his voice. He had to get the hell out of the room before it exploded from the sweat pooling on his palms.

“Bakugo!” Kirishima called after him. Someone shushed him quickly. Katsuki took the stairs two at a time to the fourth floor and threw open the door to his room. Right as he turned to close the door, someone’s foot stopping it from shutting. A red sneaker he knew all too well.

Katsuki shoved against the door. Hard. “Get the fuck out!” He wanted to sounded pissed but instead the words came out in a choked sob.

“Not until we talk.” Izuku said firmly.

Talk. Why the fuck would he want to talk!? His heart was just cut into a million pieces! Was Izuku just here to rub it in his face?!

Against his better judgement, he stepped away from the door letting the nerd in. He kept his chin to his chest in some kind of attempt to hide the tears that wouldn’t stop rolling down his cheeks.

“Fucking talk then.” He demanded. “You have a damn girlfriend to get back to.”

Nothing was said for the longest time. Izuku locked the door for good measure and went to sit on the bed. He chose not to move. Katsuki was ready to run and no damn door will stop him.

“She’s not my girlfriend.” Izuku stated. “I’ve never had a girlfriend or boyfriend... if that’s what has you upset.”

Katsuki scowled, “I don’t give a damn fuck what you do.”

Izuku laced his fingers together, laying them in his lap. “I would have believed that two days ago. I would have believed that you were trying to soften me up to bring me down.” Katsuki chewed on the inside of his cheek as he watched the tears drip to the carpet.

“But... Asui told me that you were flirting and I’m struggling to wrap my head around it.”

“What’s hard to understand? I was trying to get you to notice me! Trying to get you to see that I—”

The greenette interrupted him, “And that’s the problem.” What. The. Fuck.

“HAH!?” Katsuki whirled around to meet his crush full on. Emerald met Ruby. Fuck the tears on his face. “How the fuck is that the problem?!”

Izuku rolled his eyes but they came right back to meet his. “The Katsuki Bakugo I know would have just come out and told me. But instead, he did all these things for me out of context. Thinking back, they were nice and sweet but the Katsuki Bakugo I know would have fought damn hard for what he wanted.

“It blows my mind that you thought I would see it as flirting and I’m not bringing this up to cause shit between us but... I never know when you’ll flip back to hating me.” Izuku looked away to gaze out the window. “It was whiplash. One second, you’re being nice and the next you're calling me shitty deku.” Damn, Kirishima for being right. “Asui said I was blind... sure. She said if we walked downstairs holding hands and if you ran off upset that means something.

“But never in my life I thought you’d like me in a romantic way.” Izuku being Izuku, turned his head back to meet his eyes and smiled brightly. “I love you, Kachan.”

Out of everything that ran through his head. It all disappeared at Izuku’s last sentence, “... W-what?”

“I love you. I have for a long time.”

“Y-you—” Fucking tears wouldn’t stop. The flood gates opened and today he was the crybaby out of the two of them. “R-really?”

The greenette laughed softly and held open his arms, “I’m the crybaby out of the two of us. What is going on with you?” Katsuki will never admit it but he threw himself into the shorter boy’s arms. Izuku felt back on the bed with him on top of him. “Really, Kachan. I love you.”

“I love you too... asshole.” He whispered into his stupid ‘shirt’ shirt. The warmth of the arms around his back and against his chest grounded him.

“If something is on your mind, just tell me, Kachan. Jeez, I thought you poisoned the Katsudon you made. You haven’t called me Zuku since we were kids.” Izuku’s chest vibrating against his as he laughed. “You could have written a note? You could have signed it to me? Fuck,” The blonde was about to roll over and die—maybe cum in his pants—if the nerd said another swear word. “You could have just asked me out on a date. According to Asui, I am very approachable... to everyone but you, Kachan.”

Katsuki leaned up and pressed a kiss to his jawline, “I have what I fucking want now.”
