Chapter Text
Cale looked outside the carriage with a bored expression on his face. He also doesn't know the reason why he was doing this. Was it because of the guilt of killing the White Star? Of course not. He despises the White Star the most in this world. Because if it wasn't for that guy and the Arm, Cale's life will be peaceful. And he will surely achieve his dear slacker life earlier.
But remembering the face of the White Star before he turned into dust left a bitter taste in his mouth. Seeing how the White Star's curved onto a bitter smile annoyed Cale so much.
“ I.... guess I will be able to see you... again, (first name)... ”
That was the last words that the White Star has spoken after he completely turned into dust. There were many questions on Cale's mind at that time. (First Name)? Who is that? As far as he knows there was no (First Name) mentioned in the first and fifth volumes of The Birth of the Hero. And the Arm doesn't have any members whose name is (First Name).
And thanks to Sheritt and the God of Death who's pestering him for the last few months. Cale finally knows who is (First Name). He was the White Star's child. A child who died at the hands of her father, the White star. And the innocent child who also got cursed because of his father.
And due to the request of the God of Death. Cale was now on his way to meet that child. “Young Master-nim...”
Cale snapped out of his thoughts after hearing Hilsman's voice outside his carriage. “We're here...”
Cale's mouth twisted because of that. Aigoo, it took them a day and a half just to arrive here. He even go far on telling to everyone (his family) that he was going on a vacation trip and he will only bring Hilsman with him. Haah, just remembering the vicious smile that he got from everyone at that time made him shiver.
'Vicious.' He thought.
Meanwhile, outside the carriage. There is Hilsman who just finished talking with the director of the orphanage. He currently had a big smile on his face. 'As expected of the young master-nim!' he clenched his hand, basically crying inside.
'He even go far on going to an orphanage while he was on his vacation trip! He put other people's good before himself!'
Yep, a complete misunderstanding at its finest. Hilsman came back to reality after he saw Cale was finally out of the carriage. “Young master-nim! I already talked to the director of the orphana— hmm? Young master-nim?”
Cale ignored Hilsman as he looked around the area. It was shabby, and for some reason, he suddenly remembered the contents of the letter that the God of Death sent to him.
That child was suffering, Cale.
“Tch, there are much better orphanages in this kingdom but they sent her here.” He doesn't know the reason but just looking around the area in front of the orphanage, annoys him so much. But it wasn't the same for Hilsman who flinched after hearing what Cale had just said.
“... Young master-nim?” Hilsman called as Cale waved his hand, before sighing. “Enough, let's just go inside.”
━━━━━━━━━━
Inside the orphanage.
A child with crimson red hair and light reddish brown eyes frowned while watching the whole chaos in front of her. The caretakers ordering them to stay still and say nothing. And some of the female caretakers were squealing like pigs.
'What's up with them?' she thought. To be honest, she's not used to these people acting like some good guys in front of them. Since it was the complete opposite of their usual behaviour. "(First name)."
The girl looked at the person who called her name. In front of her was one of the female caretakers who was smiling at her. And (first name) swear, she can feel the pitying gaze that she is getting from the other children inside the room. The little girl felt the woman's hand on her shoulder.
"Stay still and don't do anything stupid, alright?"
"What? Are you scared that I might accidentally spill out all of the bullshits that you all were doing on us?" (First Name) wanted to laugh after seeing how every caretaker who heard her stiffened because of what she said. She chuckled, before giving them a bright smile. "I'm just kidding, Ma'am. I'm not that heartless to ignore all those kindness that you showed to us."
"Y...you—!!" The caretaker was about to shout at (First Name) but she was cut off when the door suddenly opened. And the director along with a red-haired noble and his knight entered the room. The caretaker glared at (first name). But (first name) just shrugged her shoulders. She knows that she will get a good beating after this. But she doesn't care anymore. Since she was already used to it.
Getting beaten up was better than getting reincarnated for a thousand of years after all.
(First Name) suddenly felt two pairs of eyes looking at her. Then she suddenly made eye contact with the red-haired noble. While the knight accompanying him suddenly stiffened up by the time he saw (first name).
‘... Huh?’ Hilsman felt goosebumps by the time his eyes landed on a certain child. The little girl had crimson red hair and a pair of reddish brown eyes that was similar to his young master-nim. The eyes, nose, lips, and even the stoic expression on the little girl's face! It was similar to his liege!!!
He looked back at Cale and (First Name) who were having a staring contest. Then he suddenly remembered what Cale said earlier.
“Tch, there are much better orphanages in this kingdom but they sent her here.”
He also remembered those days when Cale was still a trash. No! His young master-nim wasn't a trash! But... The child... How does this little girl look like a girl version of Cale!?!
Well, Hilsman wasn't the only one who was confused. Because all of the people inside the said room were staring at the oblivious duo who was still staring at each other. Sighing, (name) decided to end the staring contest by giving Cale a bright smile.
And our poor Hilsman almost choked by the time saw that familiar smile. That's the same for our dear commander who shivered after seeing that smile. 'This kid...' Cale's lips twitched. He suddenly recalled the other contents of the letter that he got from the God of Death. Saying that (First Name) was a child who was similar to him.
At first, Cale thought that the God of Death was spouting bullshits like usual. But, it looks like he wasn't kidding this time. Because (first name) was indeed similar to him.
