Chapter 1: Step 1

Chapter Text

Basically, we all have to die, and it's not in our hand like some aesthetist would love to believe. Somewhere on the calender of the universe, your name is marked, bold and unforgiving. Dying is easy if you don't have to contemplate about life and missed opportunities.
Miss the mark and the universe will make sure to hell the job is done correctly. Simply jumping over the thread that was supposed to trip you is basically just asking for retribution. A person might accidentally miss a coming truck. But no one is going to miss that giant 8.0 richte earthquake.
So when that messed up kid that got expelled 3 months ago went back to school for a little pay-back, and Jungkook just so happened to be in the unfortunated class, he had an inkling of an impenament doom.
But not the kind people would expect.
Oh no.
He would never have the brain cell to comprehend what whichever happening actually was. So lying on the ground, a bullet or two clipped where he couldn't quite feel the pain anymore, another lodged between two ribs, where he can't unfeel the coldness against his beating rhythm, and sosososo much blood soaking his eyelashes and seeping into his lithe frame from the bodies of his 2-day girlfriend and the popular kid she cheated on him with, along with the school other obnoxious bimbos, he starts to wonder if this is good or bad.
Jungkook looked at the kid wielding the machine gun he properly illegally owns, seeing how he could regconize him from the group of thugs that could have killed him that day in the alley. Ok, not that he was actually not asking for it, being in that club's back alley trying to pork the one in skimpy bodycon black leather dress. Not that he didn't stay stocking still watching them tear her away from him to rape her, he heard somewhat of the 'bitch, always sleeping around with assshats and being all innocent in front of me'. Jungkook even gave himself the decency to check out the guy gripping her pretty little neck. That was before their eyes met, and it was then that Jungkook feel the shift in stance before he physically see the baphoons moving towards him. All the gimmick, however, stopped when a loud banging came from behind the bar's backdoor and an usher barged out with a dangerously looking blunt object, quite efficiently halting the girl's (and maybe his) offender. A guy way in the back glanced to where Jungkook had pushed himself into a dark corner. It him. The machine gun. Then the brief tension was broken when the apparent leader loosened his hands around the tiny little neck and stepped back towards where the streets lights were. So yeah, Jungkook kind of have seen it coming, the familiar machine gun wielding guy.
He maybe have gotten used to the patterns. It's just like that time the group of strangers he had just gotten aquainted with to, maybe, return to a hotel for an orgy party broke out into a bloody fight in the midst of the club going full-blast and he was hiding in the bathroom with a pill of estacy, just a week after he had overdosed. Or the time all that he got from a guy drowning him in the pool was a few second of his heart stopping and the guy was practically fried when the lighting hit the rooftop pool party while he was inside the penthouse. All Jungkook could think of at that moment is 'why wouldn't a A class asshole not invest in a better lighting defense system for his building?'
So yeah, Jungkook is almost looking forward to this, whatever that is coming for him.

Taehyung found him by accident, human would say, but nothing is an accident, especially if you saw how Gods makes miracles, first-hand. Taehyung, like all of his kinds, likes observing. And that kid is so, fuckingly so, beautifully evil. Taehyung had a feeling the kid is a devil in disguise living in the human world. He is corrupted and he is devious. He smokes crack and goes to club every other night. He is the class president. He sells drugs to unknowing kids and once bang that girl for payment. He skipped a whole year for being a genius. He kicked that puppy that scratch his legs trousers and he fed the cats in his backyard. He showers his pets with affection before they die of neglectence. He smiles manically to himself when he watches world news and he cried watching 'I'm Sam'. Taehyung thinks he knows Taehyung is there, at least he can feel him there. And he learnt the kid's name one day when they made eye contact. Jungkook. He thinks that it's a befitting name. And he thinks it's cute. He's cute.

Jungkook could feel rather than see that there's someone watching him, more likely than not, actually watching over him. It would explains the occurrences. Crazy or not, he felt like the presence would listen to all his worries and pushes them all away, so he talked. It's nothing different then voicing your inner secrets once you're in a comfortable environment, and for Jungkook it is usually when he's wandering the house naked with a hot chocolate in hand. He felt the worries being consumed, with no intent to find out how and why. He had less nightmares since the day he actually paid regard to the presence he had felt long before. He imagines a figure for the presence. He created a sturdy figure that he could lean into and open macho arms that wrap perfectly around his somewhat chiseled frame. And box smiles and light bouncy hair he would love to run his hands through. But he forgets it all when he got to the eyes. He imagines shining dark hazel eyes and crinkle like fucking angels' chimes. And he considers that prospect. It would be a waste, he thinks, if an angel actually paid any intention to him.

The kid is perfectly crippled. Like a twisted contradiction that makes no sense to beings who are so used to things falling into places like Taehyung. The kid is falling into pieces. He acts out to no one, not even himself. He is oh-so willing to do things that ends his life but always, always wake up the next day and go to school and finish all of his homeworks.

Jungkook isn't actually used to what they called 'acting out'. He technically has no one to act out to. He found ways to justify his plunging behaviors, because he felt so wasted being this way sometime, and had come to pity his mom who gave up her life to give him his. He had killed a person just to slowly waste away too. Saner days led to the belief that he's just like those girls putting on makeup just to feel better about themselves. He killed himselves slowly and tortured others to..., you know, feel better about being nothing in nobody's life.
When he first felt the strange presence, it was just like feeling of a cat in a back alley. It's ominous but not altogether too unpleasant or unexpexted. It's like when you feel like you're the only one who is gonna be there at your own funeral because you decide to brave the midnight, and the tiny shadows you could not actually see is assuring you that at least there will be somebody else there.
So Jungkook welcomed it into his solitary kingdom of corruption.

The pale skinned boy felt like he needed that extra evasion of his otherwise closed up bubble.
He began with little signs of his emotion he wouldn't show else where.
And developed into greetings, it's not weird if he tried to think of it as the house itself, because he couldn't usually feel the tense in the air outside or at scool.
And then he delusionized himself with normalcy as if his rationality is always that overpowering.

Uncommon facts that's obviously unknown to popular belief, Angels, just like any other God creations, dies. It just takes a lot more than a stab wound or forever growing tumors that ceases all cells' growth. Angels do however die of heart diseases. Well, technically, Angels don't die, they fall, level by level until they're drown in the bottomless underworld. It might have been a joke when humans refer it as it is. But it's a dark road few angles have dared to venture. And Taehyung could feel himself step by step sinking down the clouds from where responsibility and loyalty requires his whole being, further away from his Father and sososo painstakingly closer to the object of his routined observation. Fallen angles aren't welcomed anywhere, beside Ground where most angles, with their ethereal beauty usually make it big in the business , to drown in the dirty ditch that is the entertainment business. He would be banished. Nothing more than a lowly sinned creature betraying God to other ex-colleagues and nothing more than a sex slave for Demons when he would eventually sink lower. He ponders for a while about all the possibility.

And he thinks that's all going to be ok.

Taehyung decided that he would want to at least say 'Hi' back at the kid. He deserves, however, much more than that. They don't actually interact much, at all. But wanting to be able to feel the butterflies kinda' made up Taehyung's mind. So he jumped. From the top of the school building Jungkook is now having class in. The school seemed to be Jungkook's favorite place, he spends 16 hours here, so Taehyung wants his first meeting to be somewhere Jungkook is the most at ease.

Taehyung falls for Jungkook. Hard. Because he was pretty high up before then. Time flew differently after he came to the revelation. Years don't fly by anymore because every day is spent being filled with Jungkook's being. He felt the first tainting one humid afternoon laying with Jungkook in between his arms on his little couch and the TV playing some comedy show for the background noise, because Jungkook detests silence now. It's just a jolt as first, but it felt like bleeding. Like something of him is being drawled out of him. He knew for certain what it was. But 'bleeding' would actually explains the redness that spreaded out on his wings.
And the first feather that fell broke Jungkook's heart and he cried all night again in Taehyung's arm clinging desperately to that one spotless feather that had decided to jump off of its pedestal, along with its bloody brothers.

The teachers think he's just too alone. So he figured it was better if he didn't tell them anything more about his nightly escapede. He tried though. Being good in class, finishing his homework and strinking all the straight A's, so they wouldn't think too much into his behavior. They wouldn't put the blame on him, not so entirely if some words did happened to travel around.

But they did decide to tell him he was too isolated and alone.

When he first notice the figure following him, every fiber in his being just reach out and connect all the dots. Religious or not, Jungkook believe in few things. But he kept enough open space in his mind and subconscious to welcome foreign idea like the figure tailing him to school, with open arms. Literally.

He had to refrain from telling them he does have a friend but his imagination of their shock and disbelievingly surrendered speechlessness is so fucking tempting.

And the figure glide right into and fit just.imperfectly with his head buried in the crook of Jungkook's neck. The ice cold body gave a surprising warmth fuzzy ball gliding down his spine that he was kind of expecting.

And he thinks the teachers need to back off a little.
