Midnights of Chloé Bourgeois

Summary:

Chloe has made bad decisions in the past, and only reflecting and redemption could save her. Also a cute guitar-playing guy. But that comes later.

Chapter 1: You're On Your Own, Kid

Chapter Text

Chloe sat in her room, her lips pursed, her knees touching her chin, Mr Cuddly carefully tucked under the sheets of her bed next to her.

She checked her phone once again. Part of her wished somebody would answer anything, even an insult. But the class chat she made to plan her birthday was radio silent, as if nobody noticed.

But they did. She knew, because read receipts were on. They noticed, they just didn’t care. They had fun with each other somewhere, probably not even talking about her, and maybe she deserved it. That was the hardest part to admit. That she probably deserved being forgotten, but never forgiven.

She heard something, some noise, coming from outside and for a second contemplated peeking out. Would it even be worth it? She would just see Ladybug defeating someone or… something like that.

Like a thousand times before.

It’s not even the bitterness of not being a hero anymore, of losing this chance forever, or even her initial rage at Ladybug for losing the miraculous jewels to… what was his new name? Monarch, right. Of course she was mad at first. Everybody was.

But then she thought about it, and, like, really thought about it. Ladybug by all means wasn’t an adult, that was obvious. She was probably around Chloe’s own age, and so was every hero she chose. Or maybe Chloe just wanted to believe that.

Either way, she was just a kid, completely on her own. Well, with Chat Noir, but Chloe, obsessed with Ladybug (only second in that to Alya), knew that Ladybug was the one making the plans and stuff.

Ew, that was not very nice, Chloe thought, Chat was important, if not for every plan of Ladybug, but to Ladybug herself. She said it a million times. It was time Chloe actually remembered what was important to people. About damn time.

She heard something again and decided to take her mind off of things. Something thrown in the corner of her room caught her attention.

It was a photo album.

It was time to go down memory lane.
