What happens when you forget basic care, properly bad things.

Summary:

Missing sleep to work was normal for the hermits. Right? It wasn't like he was becoming sick from it. No way.

Notes:

Slight TW for not great self care or talk and some CW for yelling and arguments,

Have fun :DDD

Work Text:

Decked Two was always a dream of Tango’s. He was genuinely so excited when he got the chance to in Season 9. He had so many big and exciting plans from the hours he spent planning. But there was one rather large problem, Tango was a nether hybrid and he wanted to make a very cold and icy area. Though he would cross that bridge when he came to it. First he had to dig out an absolutely enormous area to build the actual thing in.

He began like one usually does when having to dig out a massive area: with beacons. He spent hundreds of days down in the dig site only coming up occasionally to resupply and take some short rests. Though after only a short period of time he felt a level of exhaustion fall over him like a blanket. At first it bothered him, but as time went on he got used to it. Though it also got worse, leaving him to feel like his body was quite heavy and even basic movements got more and more hard. Soon he started to feel really warm, which was a little alarming to him as he was working in an icy and cold environment.

Tango still didn’t stop though, he just kept working hard. And as time progressed he started to take breaks to rest more and more often. His ideology for this was that resting wasted time he could use to work. Which only caused his past symptoms to worsen. Making it so even a basic movement like using rockets while flying, difficult. This only fueled him not taking rest, because why would he do something that could potentially make it harder to work.

This concerning behavior didn’t go unnoticed by the other hermits on the server. But most brushed it off as Tango working on a mega-build, which though wasn't wrong, but it was not the best mindset to have about big projects. Though the other members of ZIT were quite worried for their friend. Tango had stopped really answering their messages and always declined all of their invitations to hangout in every capacity. Which to the two of them was a big blaring warning that Tango was in need of being checked on.

Neither of them really had time yet that season as both had projects to get done. But it was decided that Tango's wellbeing was more important, so they decided to go for a visit. It wasn’t hard for Zed and Impulse to figure out where Tango would be because he was known to not really leave the area when working on a project, or at least a large project like Decked Out. Though they decided to check his base first hoping he would be taking a break.

The two met up at the front of Tango’s base in all its glory. Both men were quite impressed by their friends' build and were momentarily distracted from the taste at hand. They both knew Tango was both a talented builder and redstoner but there is a difference between knowing someone is good at something and seeing the skill in action.

Once Zed and Impulse finished gawking at the build they went inside. Neither had been inside it before so the build was like a maze to them. They started in the grand room just off the staircase and wandered around together trying to find the entrance to Decked Out. It took them a bit of time to find as well, as they kept getting caught up in the decorations or just plainly getting lost. Though once they found the entrance it was hopefully going to be smooth sailing to find Tango.

They were in fact wrong, Tango was nowhere to be found. At Least nowhere in view of the entrance. They decided to split up and go find him. And in the end Impulse found him. “Hey Tango” He called across the room, though he appeared to not hear Impulse, which led Impulse to get closer. “Hey man”

“Oh hi Impulse” Tango turned around to face him looking exhausted and Impulse noticed that he looked rather pale, which concerned him greatly.

“So how's Decked Out going?” Impulse asked, trying to open the conversation.

“Good, I haven't taken a break in days!” He replied, sounding worryingly proud of that fact.

“Tango that's not healthy” Impulse tried to keep his tone even and not make Tango feel patronized. “You need to take breaks for both your physical, mental, and emotional health.” he continued in the same tone, though his strategy seemed to be failing as he saw Tango start to put up a defensive front.

“Impulse I’m not a child I can take care of myself fine!!”

“WELL OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN’T, YOUR EYES HAVE GIANT BAGS AND YOU'RE FAR TOO PALE!!” Impulse immediately regretted yelling once he saw the way that Tango stiffened

“I’M GETTING WORK DONE!!” Tango yelled back “I DON’T NEED TO HELP ME!!”

“No you don’t I’m sorry” Impulse tried so hard to stop provoking his friend

“YOU SHOULD BE!!!” Tango stormed off leaving Impulse to regret his decisions

Once he was sure that Impulse couldn’t see him Tango slid to the floor against the wall. He put his head in his hands and started to cry. He was so exhausted, and just felt so horrible. Why did he have to treat one of his closest friends like that? What was wrong with him?

Zed saw a shape in the hall ahead, so he moved closer and that's when he heard the shape sobbing. He instantly knew who it was. “Tango buddy are you alright?” He knelt down next to his friend.

“I messed up, I think impulse hates me now!!” Tango replied between the sobs

“Why would he hate you?” Zed gave him a worried look “You haven't done anything wrong.”

“I yelled at him, and I stormed off.” The man looked close to hysterics. “I did even apologize.”

Zed enveloped Tango in a hug “He not I promise”

“Really?”

“Mhm”
