Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

“Oh bloody hell”
Lucy mumbled when she saw her name on the assigned seat next to Alexander Knight. She looked over at Remus who gave her sympathetic smile. James however, sat beside him trying not to burst out laughing. She rolled her eyes and got her books out, slamming them on the table a little harder than she meant to.

“Why so aggressive Potter. I’m sure many girls would be thrilled to be seated next to me.” He flashed a bright smile that made half the girls at Hogwarts go mad. He nodded at the table behind them and smirked. She looked over her shoulder at the two girls swooning over him.

“I’m sure they would.” She says rolling her eyes.

“And you’re not? I’m fairly well liked ya know?” He says in a cocky tone.

“Not by me.” She says blankly.

“Why not?” Alex leans back in his chair, arms crossed.

“Because- I dont.” Lucy huffs.

Alex stares at her for a moment with a confused look on his face.

“What? Why are you looking at me.” She says pointedly.

“You’re cute when you get annoyed.” Alex reaches to poke her face but she pushes away

“Oh bugger off Knight!” Lucy stands up slamming her hands on the table.

“Ms. Potter! Sit down and be quiet!” The teacher demands. Lucy blushes and sits down.

Alex is laughing next to her and she scowls at him. She would love to shut him up. But no matter how much she would like to argue with him right now, she wouldn’t miss a lesson, let alone get in trouble because of Alexander Knight.

“You comin?” James said waiting in the doorway after class.

“I’ll be out in a moment. I have a question.”

“Ok we’ll wait outside.” Remus says and lightly pushes her shoulder.

Lucy walks to the front of the room where professor McGonagall is sitting at her desk. She looks up at Lucy and lifts her glasses at her approach.

“Professor Mcgonagall, Can i speak with you for a moment?”

The professor motioned to the seat in front of her.

“Of course, Ms. Potter,” She motioned at the seat in front of her. “Take a seat.”

“Could I please switch seats?” She pleaded. “ I can't work with Alex, he is just- too distracting.”

“Oh you think he is cute, do you?”

Lucy blushed furiously and shook her head.

“No absolutely not,” Her ears were as bright as strawberries. “He is just not someone I can work with.”

Professor McGonagall’s eyebrows raised as she began to look at her papers.

“Well he specifically requested to work with you.”

Lucy flinched back in surprise before righting herself.

“What? Why would he do that?”

The professor looked at her knowingly before rolling her eyes and looking back down at her papers. “He didn't specify. But for now my answer is no, you can’t move.”

Lucy threw her hands up in frustration. “Why not!”

“Ms. Potter,” With firmness in her voice. “Do not raise your voice in my classroom.”

Lucy looked down at her hands. “I’m sorry Professor Mcgonagall.”

“Now I’ll see you next class,” She gives a firm look at Lucy. “Next to Mr Knight.”

Lucy gets up from her seat . “Alright thank you Professor.”

When Lucy walks out of the classroom Alex is standing waiting for her.

“Hello Lucile.” He says with a smirk.

“Don’t call me that.” She pushes past him looking for Remus and James and doesn’t see them. She sighs at thier disapearance.

“Oh I’m sorry I thought that was your name.” Lucy turns around and glares at him. He is leaning on the wall staring at her.

“Aww that was kinda cute” he says through a laugh.

She rolls her eyes again before turning away from him. “If you keep rolling your eyes like that they’ll be stuck up there.” Alex teases.

Lucy groans at his remark. But she sees Camille and Casey on the other end of the hall and begins to walk towards them.

“See you around *Lucille*!” Alex exclaims behind her. She flips him off while walking away.

“Lucy!”

Camille waves her over and Lucy pushes past the people to get there.

“Are you ok? You look angry?” Camille says sounding nervous.

“I’m fine.” Lucy says, still annoyed from her last interaction.

“You don’t look fine?” Casey says adjusting to a more stern position.

“Well thanks for your concern Casey. But no. I’m fine. Just Alexander Knight” She says as they start to walk to lunch.

“Ugh that’s-“ Camille begins

“He is just so frustrating. Like he calls me Lucille. I hate being called Lucille. And of course he is a ravenclaw boy. So cocky. I haven’t seen him say one non arrogant thing since first year. And he is so rude and thinks that everyone is in love with him.” Lucy says building her anger.

“They kind of are.” Camille replies as she points to the group of girls surrounding his lunch table.

Lucy scoffs. “Not me. He’s repulsive.”

Casey and Camille look at each other with raised brows.

“What?” Lucy looks at them.

“Nothing.” They say in unison.

“What are you talking about?” James asks when they sit at the lunch table.

“Lucy’s obsession with the Alexander Knight.” Casey says mockingly.

“Obsessed! I am not!” Lucy exclaimed.

“Oh no not at all.” Camille says sarcastically.

“Oh, Whatever,” Lucy turned and pointed acusingly at Remus. “Why did you leave after class? I had to speak to that asshole because of you.”

“It wasn’t my fault!” He held his hands up “Blame your brother. He was the one who decided to run to lunch without warning.” Lucy looked at James who was shoving potatoes in his mouth.

“You wanted to go too! And I was hungry.” He says mumbles through a full mouth.

“What did ‘mister smirk’ even do to you to make you hate him so much. I know you have never liked him but I never questioned why.” James said after a big gulp of water.

“Loads. I had a couple classes with him last year. He was always annoying everyone in class. And he flirts with every girl with a pulse and it’s so distracting. He just makes everyone's life around him harder.” Lucy rambles.

“Need me to talk to him for you.” James says sternly.

“No I’m fine I can handle him.” Lucy insists. And she will.
