Work Text:

“Yuuta…” She says, sounding more like she is saying a prayer rather than a name. To her, it’s basically the same thing.

It’s dark outside. Too dark for them to have any excuse for him to be in her room and way too dark for them to come up with any excuse for him to be in her bed.

Yuuta is kissing her like he’s hungry for something, for her. And it’s like he can’t get enough no matter how much she gives, his thirst can’t be quenched.

His kisses used to be innocent. He used to be shy.

He would kiss her when no one was looking, a quick peck, so quick that their lips would hardly brush before one of them would pull back. It would leave with them both blushing furiously, looking around to make sure no one had seen.

He would kiss her after they were finished training, while they laid on the grass, under the trees. It was still delicate but they both craved more. Maki would leave their training sessions wanting more, needing more.

He would kiss her goodnight, and she would long to grab him and pull him inside, and she knew he wanted her to do it. But she was too scared to want anything, and he was too scared to ask.

But right now, the way he was kissing her, it wasn’t soft or shy. It was hungry.

She wasn’t sure how it happened, how they ended up here. With them both laying on her bed, him on top of her kissing her like he was dying and she was oxygen.

They had been sitting on her floor talking about everything and anything, the way they always did. And somehow, they had ended up on her bed.

His hands cupped her face, his mouth moving against hers, and all she could do was keep repeating his name, over and over again like some sort of mantra.

He pulled back from the kiss and she instantly felt the withdrawals. He kept their mouths close enough together that she could still feel his lips as he spoke.

“You’re everything to me.” Yuuta says, the words brushing against her lips.

He didn’t need to tell her that. He showed her that every day. The way he looked at her, the way he treated her, the way he touched her. It was all a direct translation of what he had just said.

“Shut up.” She whispers, their lips brushing with every word. And he smiles, because he knows her, really knows her. And he knows that she hates (but also secretly loves) when he tells her stuff like that.

He pulls back further and she thinks he’s going to stop. She’s glad it’s dark because she would probably be embarrassed by the fear that would be written all over her face in that moment.

The minute his lips press against her neck an involuntary sound is ripped from her throat.

“Shhh.” He says, she can feel him grinning, “You don’t want to wake anyone up.”

The image of someone bursting through the door and finding them like this is enough to make her quiet down.

Before she can think about it too much, he starts kissing down her neck, making her back arch off the bed, pushing her body into his. She doesn’t mean to do it, she just can’t help it. She wants to be as close to him as physically possible.

“Yuuta.” She moans, her voice laced with lust, his kisses laced with something addicting.

She feels him falter at the sound of her saying his name like that. She knows he loves it, knows it drives him crazy.

“Maki.” He says into her hair, it almost sounds like a whine, like he’s struggling. “I need you.”

“You have me.” She used to hate saying stuff like that. But now it’s an irrefutable fact that she can’t deny. He has her, and there’s nothing she could do about it even if she wanted to.

He has stopped kissing her, and they are a mess of heaving breathing and longing. Her eyes have adjusted to the dark and she can see him now. He’s staring at her with that stupid look on his face. The one that he gave her that day in the classroom when he told her he wanted to be like her. The one that tells her exactly how he feels about her. The one that makes her feel like he has her heart in a chokehold.

“Stop it.” She tells him, the sound of her voice betraying her, telling him she in fact does not want him to stop.

And before he can say anything else she bunches up his shirt and pulls him down until their lips collide.

-

When she wakes up, she wakes up surrounded by warmth. He stayed, she knew he would. He wouldn’t ever willingly leave her. Even if it was risky.

“Wake up.” She says quietly. Rays of sunlight are only just starting to come through her window. But Gojo always wakes up early, and they can’t risk being caught.

She rolls over to face him, and she instantly realizes she’s made a mistake. Because the way he looks- she never wants to leave this bed.

She’s sure her lips are swollen, she’d be shocked if they weren’t. She isn’t sure how she would get around that if anyone was to notice.

“Maki.” Yuta’s morning voice rips her from her thoughts and lands her in the present. He pulls her closer to him. He is so warm. She fights the urge to let her eyes flutter shut.

“Get up.” She tries again, sounding even more unconvincing than the last time.

“Do we have to?” He asks, slightly pouting.

“We have to train.” She says, “and Gojo-sensei wakes up early. Do you want him to see you leaving my room?” She adds.

That’s enough to get him moving.

Maki walks into the kitchen to find Panda, Inumaki and the three first years chatting away about something or other. If she’s being honest, she’s too tired to take much interest.

“Maki, you look tired.” Panda says, smiling mischievously at her.

“You do, Maki-sensei, are you okay?” Megumi pipes up, drawing the attention of everyone in the room.

Great.

“I’m fine. Just lots of training.” She says brushing it off. But Panda is staring at her like she has a secret and he knows what it is. And she hopes like hell he doesn’t.

“You need to get more sleep then.” Nobara says, “you can’t just train and not sleep.”

“What’s keeping you up?” Itadori asks, his mouth full of food.

“Nothing.” She says to him and then turns to Nobara, “and I am sleeping fine.”

She raises an eyebrow in her direction, “you have bags under your eyes.”

Before she can respond Yuuta walks in, his hair is wet from the shower and she forces herself to look away. She had instructed him to wait a few minutes before coming to breakfast so that it didn’t look suspicious.

“Yuuta looks tired as well.” Megumi points out, and Maki knows he hasn’t made the connection in his head yet, that he’s just stating a fact, but Panda is already smiling.

“Yeah but he always does. No offense.” Nobara adds.

Yuuta opens his mouth to reply when Panda cuts him off.

“Oh, what a coincidence.” He says turning to Yuuta, “any idea why Maki is so tired?”

Yuuta’s cheeks immediately go bright red as he chokes on his response, “I- uh- I can’t say I do.” He finally manages to say.

“Right.” He says, like he doesn’t believe it at all.

Thankfully, he drops it. And they all go back to their breakfast. Panda keeps throwing her looks and she ignores them. Nobara is talking to her about a boutique that she’s going to drag her to after training when Gojo walks in.

“Morning students.” He says beaming at them with too much enthusiasm for what time it is. “Inumaki, Okkotsu, I have a mission for you both. Come find me after training this morning.”

“Salmon.” Inumaki says. Yuuta nods in agreement.

“The rest of you, train hard and make your ridiculously good looking sensei proud.”

He is just about to leave when he turns back to them, and even though she can’t see his eyes, she can feel his gaze on her. She knows this can’t be good. But nothing could prepare her for what he says next.

“Maki, Yuuta, how about tonight you try sleeping in your own beds tonight so you’re not so tired? And if you need any protection, just ask Shoko.”

He throws them one final shit eating grin and with that, he’s gone.
