Supplemental.
I still don’t know why is Aliss working here. I’ve been looking into them and there’s no sign she’s been involved with the paranormal before, not on an academic, professional, or even personal level. She has no experience working in an archive either, so why did Elias transferred them here? She’s learning fast, and doing a decent job of it, but why bring in someone inexperienced for ‘support’?
Is she Elias’ executioner? His spy, maybe? Might they be in it together with Martin? Both of them worked in the Institute library in the past, and both of them were appointed as archival assistants by Elias himsel—
[KNOCKS AT THE DOOR]
ARCHIVIST
Oh.
[SHUFFLING PAPERS]
Come in.
[DOOR OPENS]
ALISS
Hey, Jon. Um, I’m not interrupting, am I?
ARCHIVIST
No, no. It’s fine. Come in, Aliss.
[DOOR CLOSES]
ALISS
Right. I just wanted to hand you the follow-up on the last case, um, here.
[PAPERS BEING HANDLED]
And return the tapes you lent me. Thank you, by the way. It helps to get a sense of what’s going on, what to expect.
ARCHIVIST
Right. Thank you, Aliss. [Pointedly] You’ve been learning the ropes fast.
ALISS
Oh! I— I try to. Apparently I work here now, and I’d hate making you fall behind.
ARCHIVIST
Is this all?
ALISS
Yeah. I’ll leave you to it. I’ll be in my desk if you need me.
[DOOR OPENS AND CLOSES]
ARCHIVIST
Right. So there’s that. Aliss has shown no suspicious behaviour, besides their mere presence here, and they seem as confused as I am by that… but how can I be sure? Maybe she’s just a really good actor. Until I know more, I’m keeping a close eye on her.
