Work Header

Sincerely, Dean Winchester

Summary:

You get a letter from Dean, who’s grown to be more like family than anything else, and it’s just the kick in the pants you needed.

Notes:

I was not personally a fan of 15.20. It just wasn't the happy ending I was looking for. That whole love the show, hate the end sort of situation. So generally I prefer to think of 15.19 as the finale or 15.20 as...not the end. That being said, this very mini fic thing was just something of a pick-me-up for myself from a while ago but figured…hey, maybe it would help someone else out there, too, to hear from our favorite green-eyed hunter. Enjoy.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

November 30, 20—

Alright, sweetheart,

It’s been awhile since we talked, but there’s some things I think you need to hear. There’s probably somethin’ you’re kickin’ yourself over right now, and I’m gonna tell ya to just let it go.

I know, I know, easier said than done.

Look, I get it. I’ve lived it. But don’t be like me and carry every goddamn regret like a ball and chain. All you end up doin’ is livin’ in the past and missin’ out on what’s right in front of you. Or who’s right in front of you.

I know you and I know deep down you’ve got faith in what’s comin’ down the road after what you’ve been through, the good and the bad.

This is gonna sound corny as hell…but you’ve got too much fire in you to let anything out there put you out. You are smarter and kinder and more frickin’ alive than anyone else I know. Whatever you do, you do for your own reasons. So the world can just back off.

You’ve got this, Sister Winchester.

Now pick up your damn phone.

Dean

P.S. Cas says hi. Sam’s got a new book for you. And Jack’s dyin' to talk to you about something—hell if I know what but he asks about you damn near every time he drops in. So we better be seein’ you soon.
