It had been a long time since Rindō Haitani had taken pity on the sewer rat, or at least that was what Hisao figured. Why else would the charisma of Roppongi tolerate his presence this often? Hisao must have simply looked awful the first time they met and interacted properly. After all, Hisao hadn't been in the best spot when he stumbled upon one of the Haitanis...
But ever since the younger of the brothers kept up his contact with the Rat of Tokyo. It had been easier to meet when Rindō was the terror of Roppongi and Hisao was simply known as Rat... But later, after the incident of bloody halloween, he had joined the Tokyo Manji gang, and for the first time Hisao was cautious about meeting Rin or Ran for that matter, since the elder was often there too.
He didn't want people going after the Haitani's if they connected Rat back to the 5th in Toman, and what they do, nor did he want people to come after a Toman member because of the Terrors of Roppongi. Yet maybe Hisao was overthinking this too much, not wanting any harm done to anyone kept these thoughts upright though.
But today, at random, he ran into Rindō and got dragged off by the taller one. A bit confused by the sudden grip on his wrist, he winced and stumbled after the dual-haired until he caught up to him to walk beside him. As per usual they took back alleys, but a bit further into their walk... Rindō simply plopped down on a ledge, letting go of the gray-haired's wrist.
Hisao's breathing formed small white clouds in front of him, so did Rindō's. It had grown significantly colder since they first met and the gray-haired found himself wondering if they would experience the weather growing warmer again together as well, but for now the younger Haitani was sitting in front of him, seemingly not too happy.
It was a bit strange to stand taller than Rindō, but he tried to ignore it, instead giving the other a questioning look and a small smile. The sewer rat looked tired still, but it was far better than when they first met. The Haitani on the other hand was unreadable, luckily he spoke up.
"Aren't you going to explain why you've been avoiding me, or us?" He asked, his voice carrying an unusual but not foreign annoyance... It was the same tone he used towards Ran at times. It would have been endearing if the cold atmosphere wasn't only manifested by the weather, the vsible puff of air in front of them, and Hisao's reddened face from the fast walk.
He realised his mistake, "I joined Toman, I'm not just Nezumi anymore." The smaller offered, more sheepish than usual, and shifted from foot to foot a bit nervously. "I'm in the 5th division Rindō... I didn't want to cause trouble for you, nor did I wan't to cause trouble for Toman." Hisao explained himself, trying to hold his gaze with Rindō's, which seemed even more mildly annoyed after the gray one explained himself.
"So, you weren't even planning on saying anything at all?" He asked then, Rindō not being the most emotive guy on the planet... Having his eyebrow figuratively raised at Hisao... Made the smaller even more nervous. "Why did you join a gang anyways?" He asked then, almost as if he was holding a grudge against Toman over this.
But it was true, Hisao had never talked to him about what had happened, his healing scars on his mind and body left unexplained. They were just spending time sometimes, Nezumi not wanting to ruin anything by talking about his past like that.
"I never planned to be a solo Rindō. I love gangs, I'm not a solo fighter, I'm no good on my own." He chuckled then, trying to lighten the mood a bit… Get his nerves under control. Which was seemingly successful after the other crossed his arms suggesting, "you had us." Naïvely almost.
Hisao inhaled to refrain himself from laughing, but the smaller male ended up laughing anyway. It was hilarious after all. "The terrors of Roppongi? Really Haitani?" He teased, Rindō looking aside, which was endearing and funny on its own. "I'm not oozing charisma either. I was honestly surprised you even talked to me, you didn't owe me over me being of a little help." He said quickly, approaching Rindō, that was still sitting down.
"I figured you just hadn't heard the rumors." He waved in front of his face a little, smiling sheepishly. The nervousness from before was gone, he would not let Rindō simply live this down. The dual-haired had really gotten the smaller nervous, might as well get back at him.
"Or did Rindō Haitani want to adopt a pet rat?~" He teased then and leaned down to kiss the Charisma's forehead gently. Hisao's breath easily fogging up the others' glasses.
The rat snorted at that, covering his mouth with his hand, thankful that the cold was probably obscuring his own blush, because Rindō was certainly blushing, even if only faintly, the smaller could tell.
"Thank you very much." Rindō spoke up, right after taking off his glasses to clean them, cursing the other out silently. Hisao just positively giggled as the other cleaned his glasses and put them back on.
"Careful or I'll call you cute." Hisao teased further, not quite able to tell if it got to Rindō completely, because he carried on with the conversation from before, seemingly determined to stop the distancing.
"You're in the 5th, means you can surely find me- us... At times to still meet here and there, and if you think you can get Ran and me in trouble, you're more foolish than I thought." the glasses wearing one stated, straight forward and meager as per usual...
At that the rat rolled his eyes and chuckled. "Could've just told me you miss me Rin." He teased then, realizing his mistake of calling the Haitani by a nickname. Sure Hisao was a bit older but- Rindō was Rindō. Yet, to his surprise the nickname was never frowned upon and later on, it would become a habit.
Because Rindō Haitani hadn't pitied the sewer rat, nor had he somehow missed the rumors. He spent his time with Hisao, because Hisao... Was Hisao, and with time the weather would grow warmer again.
