Chapter Text
The first time the two millionaires met was at school. Miyagi had just transferred to the new school after his parents bought another house just to be closer to the private school for preschoolers. He was just 5 at that time (turning 6 as he proudly would say). Daisuke just happened to be his classmate , as per Sayuri’s request that he shouldn’t start homeschooling at such a young age.
Anyways nothing much happened to be honest, it was a mistake when it first happened. They had exchanged bags accidentally since they brought almost identical ones. That day Miyagi had been crying his eyes out because he thought he lost his new favorite toy car and was replaced with some story book.
His Dad may have laughed at him because he warned him not to bring the toy along because 1: he wouldn’t be playing with it at school and 2: he could have lost it. But because he didn’t want to leave his new toy at home so he could play with it as soon as he got the chance, his plan obviously failed.
On the other hand, within the Kambe Estate, Daisuke looks at the toy car with a small pout. It’s not that he hates it , he has lots of toy cars and he even watches his dad build them for him from time to time. He wanted to ask the teacher to help him learn how to read so he can surprise his mom when they give him a bedtime story. But how can he tell the bedtime story when the book isn’t with him !
He looks through the bag and the more he realizes that this isn’t his stuff. There were snacks that he wasn’t allowed from grandma’s orders and the pencil case looked different too because he had a cat one which was now replaced with some metal pencil case. So it was starting to be obvious that this wasn’t his bag (smart detective) . He proceeds to find his mom in the large building but the journey becomes tiring for his tiny legs. Since supper was slowly approaching it couldn’t be helped that he got hungry. He knows that if he takes a snack break he wouldn’t have the appetite to eat and his grandmother could get angry. At the same time though he needs the energy to look for his mom so he grabbed the snacks in the backpack. They rarely get him snacks like these so he was curious to try some and it tasted really good to him. It was just those simple panda cookies with fillings inside this time it was chocolate. He promised himself he would only eat like 5 but ended up eating it all and now that he is well fed the journey continues.
Honestly, that journey was a waste since they would have been meeting up during dinner. Daisuke just stared down at his plate filled with food but with no appetite to eat. He tried to eat but only ended up eating half. Once dinner was over he brought the bag to his mom so that maybe she could find the owner. They finally found an information card with the supposed owner’s name and number also address. Which they did end up calling. Their parents agreed to meet up before school so the kids could exchange their bags.
And just like they planned the two had met before school. The two families decided to meet outside a cafe near the school. When Miyagi finally saw his familiar bag and the actual owner of the bag he almost screamed.
“IT WAS YOU WHO TOOK MY BAG”
“No I didn't, you got my bag!”
Their parents had to calm them down just so that they could be willing to exchange the bags. Once they got it Miyagi looked through his bag to find his toy car but to find that his snacks were gone. Then he accused Daisuke of eating his snacks that he saved. Daisuke hid behind Sayuri and didn’t say a word obviously that he did eat it. Sayuri looked at him with a slight disappointment but was trying to understand.
“Did you eat them?” Sayuri asked Daisuke could only nod then look down as he gripped the skirt of her dress.
She then crouched down to his level “then you should apologize and promise to make it up to him” he slowly looked up to her and let go of her skirt.
Then bowed down to the Miyagis apologizing to Yusuke.
“I’m sorry” He then looked back to his mom to see her reaction. He looked to the side where he could see the pastries and got a bright idea. He asked if he could have some money and Sayuri gave him some and he went to Yusuke.
“I will go buy you one from there” He said, trying to make it up to him.
After that the two boys ended up sharing a cake since it was too big for one person to finish. It was a good thing that they went early too so that they had time to finish it. Yusuke’s mood had brightened , maybe it was the sugar intake or maybe since he got his toy back but the two started talking.
They manage to talk about anything their young minds could even muster from their love of cars to some cute animal facts. The families never seen their children shine so brightly in each other's joy. Perhaps it's from their similar backgrounds or they just managed.
Sayuri smiled seeing her son finally make a friend outside of the family and decided to take a picture of the two as a commemoration. It wasn’t a proper picture by far with the sides of their lips having some frosting and they weren’t looking at the camera, they were just talking in their own world with large smiles. Sayuri will make sure to keep this photo in the albums for that someday Daisuke can look back at his first friend.
