Hijikata leaned in and kissed Gintoki on the lips, lingering for a moment before breaking away with a smile.
"Nice to meet you too," the silver samurai said, smiling up at him. "And I would like it very much if we could continue our conversation outside."
The raven cop frowned slightly, then nodded and kissed Gintoki again, this time longer.
As he broke away from the kiss, he gazed into the red eyes. "So where are you going?"
"To see what's out there," Gintoki replied.
There was a long silence between them as they both turned toward the door leading westward.
"What is out there?" asked Hijikata quietly. "Is it worth taking a chance on? It has been some time since I last took a chance."
Gintoki's brows furrowed for a moment before he replied. "Then let me be your guide,"
He smiled warmly at the cop, then took Hijikatas hand in his "Let us take that first step together."
With that, he lead the raven cop out through the doorway and out of sight.
Hijikata looked back at Gintoki when they came to a stop.
"Are you ready?" the silver man asked.
"Ready," Hijikata replied softly.
"Good," Gintoki said. "Hold on to me tightly, just in case."
The cop snorted at this ridiculous mark. The light was dimmer here than it was before, but he could tell that it is getting darker all the same.
Hijikata looked up at Gintokis's face and smiled reassuringly.
"It will be okay," Gintoki said. "We'll get through this together."
"Together." Hijikata repeated. "Do you remember what I told you? That I've never done something like this before?"
"Yes, I do."
"Well," Hijikata said, looking nervous as he continued. "I don't know what's going to happen... but I want you to know that I'm not afraid anymore."
"Me either," Gintoki replied, his hand still gripping tightly around Hijikatas waist.
"Everything will be fine," Hijikata murmured.
"Of course it will," Gintoki replied.
"You always seem so sure of yourself," Hijikata said quietly.
"Why shouldn't I be?" he asked. "I've got nothing to lose."
"I suppose that's true enough," he said with a sigh. The ground beneath him was soft.
"I wonder how far we'll get" Gintoki whispered.
"I guess we'll just wait and see."
"That sounds like a plan," Gintoki replied squeezing his beloved cop's hand.
