Work Text:
Jungkook could not remember a time in his life after meeting Seokjin when he was not in love with him. They had met at work one day, Jungkook, working in IT, being called to fix Seokjin’s computer which had mysteriously stopped working properly. The fact it was because the computer caught a virus from an online Mario emulator made him chuckle. He had quickly become enamored with the silly omega whose sense of humor captured his attention immediately. Their courtship was a whirlwind, both falling in love with the other rather quickly.
Being a beta, Jungkook was pleased an omega as beautiful as Seokjin would feel for him what he felt for the omega. He had spent most his life hearing how he would one day find another beta to settle down with or occasionally someone would mention him settling with an alpha – never an omega. Omegas were meant for alphas not betas. Betas were allegedly not equipped to be good mates for omegas who “needed” a knot during their heats. For Jungkook, who had never been with an omega, it was a worry that he harbored silently until Seokjin reassured him that he only needed Jungkook himself. The first heat they spent together further cemented that Seokjin would not go “knot blind”, begging for any alpha he could to knot him.
It was two years after they started dating that the two mated. Even though his bite would fade slowly unlike that of an omega or alpha, Seokjin insisted Jungkook bite him, telling him he was willing to be rebitten when it faded.
“It’ll be like mating all over again,” the omega had smiled happily.
They had overcome so much in their time together, building a life together in their apartment they moved into together a year after their mating. Their life was perfect. Jungkook had gotten a promotion and was now the director of the IT department, meaning Seokjin could cut his hours in order to dedicate more time to their current struggle. Trying to have a child.
Male omegas were less fertile than female omegas and were more prone to dangers associated with pregnancy. Betas were also less likely to be fertile and even less likely to sire a pup than to carry one. It seemed that odds were not in their favor, but if there was one thing the two of them were, it was stubborn. They researched and studied, met with their fertility specialist, and began doing all the things recommended to help boost their chances. They ate healthier, quit drinking, took vitamins, managed their stress levels, and kept track of Seokjin’s ovulation. Much to their relief, both had tested to be fertile, so it was not completely hopeless. But the doctor did remind them it was very unlikely they would have children simply due to biology. But unlikely did not mean impossible.
Their journey had come with ups and downs, frustrations ran high. Wanting something so bad and being told you can have it with someone besides the one person you want it with hurt. The two of them felt that they would be parents one day no matter who refused to believe them.
Tired of the difficulties they were facing, the two had come to the difficult decision to try in vitro fertilization. At first, Seokjin felt sad that they needed help to have a baby, but Jungkook had quickly reassured him that sometimes nature just needed a little boost. Their first appointment would be in the morning. They had already met with the specialist, had their exams, and were going in to retrieve Seokjin’s eggs from his ovaries. He was understandably nervous. They had tried naturally for years unsuccessfully and were hoping this would finally mean their dream would come true.
“Hey, Kookie? Can we eat nachos tonight? I want beans and cheese, maybe some jalapenos?” he asked cutely from his spot on the sectional.
“For you, my prince, anything,” he answered, smooching his omega before going to the kitchen to check for ingredients. “We have everything we need unless you want sour cream.”
“No sour cream, but please tell me we have the mixed cheese, you know with the little white and yellow bits,” the omega pouted.
“We do! Anything else?”
“Some apple juice?”
“Sir, yes, sir! Coming right up, sir!” he saluted, peeking through the pass through window between the kitchen and living room.
The omega giggled from his spot before changing the channel to their favorite home repair show. “Ooh! They’re fixing a craftsman! I love craftsman style!”
The beta could be heard cooking and preparing the food while the omega relayed what was happening on the show. Every so often, he would peek through the pass through window to see the good parts. The couple alternated who did the cooking. Since Seokjin had gone through an extra difficult heat the month before, he had been picky about what he wanted to eat. It was not unusual for this to happen to him, so they did what they always did. Improvised. They bought easy to cook foods so that if the omega did not like the food, he would not have to feel as bad about missing intricate meals. Seokjin hated feeling guilty, so Jungkook did these little things to make sure he did not need to feel such things.
Bringing two plates of the finished nachos, he handed one to Seokjin and sat his next to him before going back for two glasses of apple juice. Pulling up his tv tray, he sat his drink and plate on it along with Seokjin’s juice before sitting it in front of the two of them. As they ate, the beta looked over at his mate, smiling at his happy dance he did whenever eating something he really wanted to eat. It was something that always endeared the omega to him even more each time he saw it.
“You like it, baby?” he asked, knowing the answer but wanting to hear it anyway.
“Mmmhmm! You’re the best mate ever! I love you, Kookie.”
“Love you, too, baby.”

“Mr. Kim and Mr. Jeon?” the nurse called out to the waiting room from the doorway leading to the back of the doctor’s office.
“Come on, love,” Seokjin said, standing up from his seat and grabbing his mate’s hand.
The nurse greeted them both by name. She measured his weight before handing him a cup to pee into and telling him to meet at the desk. Once he provided the sample, she led them to a lab area where she took a sample of his blood. Finally, they were led to an examination room and Seokjin was asked to change into a paper gown with the opening to the front. He quickly changed into his gown, twirled for Jungkook, and sat on the examination table, fiddling with his hands.
“Don’t worry, baby. I’ll be here the whole time,” Jungkook reassured.
Seokjin smiled at his mate. His tummy felt like it was in knots from the nervousness. He had always dreamt of being a father, and he knew this was just a step on his journey to fatherhood. So even though he felt anxious, he was very excited at the prospect of being closer to him and Jungkook being parents.
“They’re taking a longer time than usual, don’t you think,” Seokjin worried out loud.
“I’m sure there’s just more to prepare for this type of thing,” Jungkook answered.
“I suppose you’re right,” Seokjin smiled.
It was another ten minutes before the nurse poked her head in, “The doctor is just getting everything checked and double-checked. He’ll be another fifteen minutes. I’m so sorry for the wait. We had something unexpected come up. I’ll keep you updated if anything changes.”
After she closed the door, Seokjin looked over at Jungkook with worry in his eyes. “What if my lab results were bad? What if the jalapenos messed up my levels?” he said, tears welling in his eyes.
Jungkook stood up and pulled the other into a hug, “Baby, it’s okay. Jalapenos don’t affect your levels. Remember we checked. You’re okay. It might just be an unexpected patient showing up with worries like we’ve done before, you know?”
The omega nodded, sniffling, “You’re probably right. I’m sorry I’m being silly.”
“You’re not silly. You’re just worried. It’s a big thing. It’s okay to be scared, baby. I’m worried, too. But you know what? I think we’ll be parents sooner than you think.”
Knock, knock.
The beta doctor entered the room.
“That was fast,” Seokjin sniffled.
“I’ve got good news, and bad news. First the bad news,” Dr. Park said.
The couple squeezed each other’s hands.
“Bad news: we won’t be doing your procedure today.”
The two looked at him with worry and surprise in their eyes.
“But…the good news: you’re pregnant!”
The two stared at him blankly for a few seconds before looking at each other and screaming in joy. They began happy crying and hugging each other tightly. Jungkook ran over to the doctor, picking him up and squeezing him, too.
“You’re the best doctor ever!” he yelled, jumping up and down.
“Yea! Long live Dr. Park!” Seokjin added.
With a chuckle, he answered, “Technically, you guys did all the work.”
“But you guided us. You told us what to do and what not to do. You’ve helped more than you’ll ever know,” Seokjin cried, hopping off the table to hug the doctor.
“You’re just saying that because you’re my big brother!” Jimin giggled through his tears.
“I love you so much, Mim,” Seokjin cried.
“Love you, too, Jinnie. Now, hop back on the exam table so we can check on you.”
Doing just that, with Jungkook holding him and making sure he did so safely, he smiled widely once he was back onto the table.
“So, first things first, when was your last menstrual cycle?” Jimin asked.
“Eight weeks ago. But my heat was almost six weeks ago, which always throws off my period a few weeks,” Seokjin answered.
“Okay, well, let me enter that here,” he said, putting in data into the computer. “Alright, let me listen to you before we check our Little Honeybee, okay?” he asked, using the nickname Jungkook and Seokjin had been calling their future baby.
Jungkook sat across from them with wide eyes, excited and nervous that everything would be okay.
After putting on gloves and checking on Seokjin, he asked him to lay down on the exam table. Once he was lying flat, Jimin felt his lower abdomen and listened to the area as well.
“Okay, now, let’s take a look at this little bundle of joy!” Jimin said, pulling the ultrasound machine closer. “Jungkookie, move your chair over here so you can see better,” he said, pointing to a spot closer to the table.
Jungkook quickly did as he was told, scooching the chair next to the exam table and wide eyes travelling between Seokjin, his tummy, and the screen. Jimin poured the lubricating gel on Seokjin’s lower abdomen after setting up the machine. After a few minutes, he asked them to look at the screen.
“You see that little bean right there? That’s your Honeybee. And…oh, oh my goodness. Seokjin!”
“What?! Is everything okay?!” the omega asked.
With teary eyes, Jimin turned to him, “Jinnie. There’s two of them!”
“Two?!” Seokjin asked, tears welling once again in his eyes.
“Two honeybees?” Jungkook cried.
“Two honeybees!” Jimin enthused. “Let’s check them,” he said, turning back to the machine with a sniffle and a wipe of his eyes.
After measuring them and printing plenty of pictures of the honeybee twins for everyone, Jimin cleaned the omega’s tummy, then helped him sit up and cover himself. He then sat at the computer, inputting a few more things and looking over his notes.
“Okay guys, according to this, your honeybees will be due September 12th.”
“Namjoon’s birthday?! Nope! Not giving him the pleasure. He still owes me a pizza after he threw mine off the balcony,” Jungkook pouted.
“You do know most babies are not born on their due date, right?” Jimin teased.
“I still don’t trust it,” Jungkook said, narrowing his eyes, causing the other two to giggle.

Namjoon strutted into the room, shoulders back and smug look on his face. He was excited at the prospect of the babies possibly being born on his birthday. Carrying a pizza box, he handed it to Jungkook before walking over to Seokjin and handing him two small boxes.
Smiling, Seokjin opened them then screamed in happiness and hugged his friend. He then handed the boxes to Jungkook who was now seated on the sectional eating a slice of pizza. Cleaning his hands on his jeans, Jungkook opened the boxes to reveal two small golden necklaces with little honeybee charms on them. He smiled and laughed out loud before grabbing his friend in a headlock and giving him celebratory noogies.
Soon, Jimin and his husband Yoongi arrived. Jimin was carrying a large cake shaped like a baby’s footprint. Yoongi carried an extra-large baking pan of ribs he had prepared per Seokjin’s request. Yoongi was a professional barbecuer (his words), and the fact his brother-in-law Seokjin wanted his food made his inner wolf happy.
Their neighbor Hoseok brought his new boyfriend, Taehyung. Taehyung told them how he wanted to cook something for the party but decided poisoning new people was not a good idea. He brought a crock pot of chicken alfredo that he said his mother made. Hoseok brought jello shots with plastic babies in them. And tamales his adoptive mother insisted he bring since she said he needed to include Seokjin in the food offering. He said calling it an “offering” made it seem like they were going to sacrifice a virgin later. Namjoon volunteered to be the sacrifice since he was an asexual aromantic who had never bothered with anything physical.
As everyone ate, Hoseok snuck over to Seokjin, tapping him on the shoulder, “Psst, hey. I got you something,” he whispered, obviously a bit tipsy.
“What’s that?” Seokjin asked, smiling at his flush-faced friend.
“Here. Gotta go, Jungkook’s watching,” he said, scurrying off immediately after handing Seokjin two of the plastic babies that had stripes drawn on them with a permanent marker so they looked like bees.
Jungkook walked over to his omega, plopping down next to him and kissing his cheek. “Such a pretty omega,” he whispered before laying his head on his mate’s arm and watching their friends dance terribly to whatever weird music Taehyung decided would be the soundtrack for the dinner.

Seokjin’s pregnancy was going well. The honeybees were healthy and so was he. He had few complaints as the morning sickness phase passed, other than swollen feet he could not see due to his growing tummy. He slept with them elevated on pillows and a few extra under him due to his susceptibility to indigestion. But he knew he would do it again in a heartbeat the moment he felt his honeybees move.
Jungkook would lay next to his tummy and sing and read stories to the honeybees every day. As Seokjin’s pregnancy advanced, Jungkook began to dote even more on his mate, cooking for him more often and helping massage his feet. He took a knitting class with his omega so they could make clothes and blankets for their babies. Jungkook made the cutest, most crooked pair of blankets, while Seokjin was doing well with his outfits. He insisted on making them honeybee caps for their trip home from the hospital.
It was a rainy morning when Seokjin woke up with a pained moan. Shaking Jungkook awake, he felt a pool of wetness between his legs. The pain in his abdomen grew stronger and sharper. Jungkook gathered their overnight backpack while Seokjin slipped into the bathroom. He refused to go to the hospital with morning breath and a dirty face. Once he finished in the bathroom, he hobbled into the hallway to find Jungkook coming out of the guest bathroom.
Slipping on his shoes, Seokjin put on his bathrobe and waited for Jungkook to pull the car around. Once he did, Jungkook jumped out and helped him to the car.
The drive to the hospital was filled with Seokjin doing his breathing exercises and timing his contractions. Jungkook was doing his best to not speed while he called Jimin on bluetooth. Jimin assured them he would meet them at the hospital once they checked in.
After what felt like the longest drive of their lives, they finally arrived at the hospital. Jungkook ran to get a wheelchair then quickly zoomed his mate into the emergency room. He told them Dr. Park was expecting them, which helped them get a room faster.
Once Seokjin was transferred to the labor and delivery ward, Jimin came into the room, along with a nurse. He checked Seokjin while the nurse took his vital signs.
“As we discussed, we’re preparing the surgical suite for your c-section. Due to your anatomy and the honeybees’ positioning, I think it'll be the safest option. Remember to breathe. I'll do everything I can, and I need you both to do the best you can to remain positive. Jungkook, they'll get you some scrubs to change into so you can be there, too. I'll see you guys in a few minutes. Love you,” he said, hugging them both.
Jungkook leaned down, kissing his omega on the forehead, “Don't worry, baby. The honeybees will be just fine and we’ll be holding them soon.”
Seokjin, who had already begun to feel less pain from the epidural, smiled softly at his beta. “Love you.”
“Love you, too.”

Jungkook stood by Seokjin’s head, looking between the surgical team and his mate. Seokjin was doing his best to listen for any signs one way or the other.
Jungkook’s face went pale and he let out a little “eep” just before the sounds of crying filled the room. Seokjin smiled through happy tears as he watched Jungkook ugly cry.
“It’s a girl!” Jimin exclaimed.
After the nurses cleaned the first baby up, one held it in front of them. She was tiny with a full head of hair and a chubby little face.
A few minutes later, a second cry could be heard.
“A boy!” Jimin laughed happily. “Congrats, guys!”
By the time the second chubby faced baby was shown to the new parents, both were ugly crying.
The honeybees were taken to get their new baby exams and to assess their subgenders. Jungkook watched as Seokjin fell asleep while Jimin closed the incision. His lovely omega had done the impossible.
🍯🐝
A few hours later, the couple sat side by side in Seokjin’s hospital bed, each holding a baby. The honeybees had just finished eating their first meal and were sleeping happily.
They choose to name the alpha girl Danbi meaning “sweet rain” since they were born on a rainy day. Their beta son they named Iseul for “dew”.
As they sat holding their honeybees, they looked into each other's eyes and smiled. Their dream had finally come true.
The date was September 1st.
