"Hypnosis." Yone said. She kept her voice low, but excitement is evident.
"Hypnosis?" Neru chuckled nonchalantly. "Isn't that for staged shows?"
"Show her." Manaka said scanning the crowd.
"Let’s see... There!" She looked innocently at a guy she saw peering at them earlier then smiled at him.
"What?! – Wait! But I haven't -!" Yone responded in panic.
A guy on his mid 20's took Manaka's cue and approached the three. "Hi. You girls look like you're having trouble?" He said.
"Uhh. Not exactly trouble. But yeah." Manaka said tucking a hair on her ear. "We could use some help." She dipped her head towards Yone.
"I'm looking at a different kind of spell binding magic right now."Neru couldn’t help but giggle.
"Um. Hi." Yone started hesitantly. "See, me and my friends here are kinda disagreeing about something."
"I see, so to what extent can I help you with?" He said with a friendly tone. His eyes lingered at Manaka before turning his attention to the smaller girl.
"Cool. Um." Yone racked her brain at the abrupt challenge. "Ah. I’m Yana, This is Neri and here we have Aika."
"Nice to meet you." He stole another glimpse over to Manaka.
Yone nodded in response. "See, these two says I’m really funny and my jokes are top notch." She paused "And I have this feeling that they're just saying it because we’re friends."
"I see, coz friends are supposed to be supportive."
"Yes. exactly." Yone half laughed rolling her eyes at Manaka who was suppressing a giggle failing miserably at playing innocent. "So, I wanted to confirm it with a different person, to see if these two aren't lying." She said breathlessly. "Um. well, if that is okay with you?"
"Umm. Okay Deal." the guy agreed.
"Cool! Deal?" Yone held out her hand.
Just about the time when the guy was about to shake her hand, Yone grabbed his wrist in panic and gave it a light tug. "Sleep."
In an instant, the guy's head lolled down, Manaka caught him by instinct to keep him from falling. The three exchanged looks with Manaka nodding at Yone for her to continue.
"You are feeling relaxed." Yone picked her words cautiously. "When you hear a snap, you will slowly wake, and I will show you something that will really make you laugh."
She looked over at Neru, then Manaka. What will I do? She mouthed them silently.
The two shook their heads. Manaka snapped her finger just as when she was about to suggest something. To Yone's panic the guy lifted his head groggily. Shit.
The short haired girl clapped her hand to her mouth realizing her mistake. Neru stood amused. She kept her attention to their subject who was looking at Yone blankly.
Out of randomness, Yone held out her middle finger to the guy's face, shutting her eyes just in case the induction fails, and her subject retaliates.
A few seconds of silence passed, Yone peeked nervously only to see a wide smile plastered on his face, his shoulders shaking, and his ears reddened. She herself was amused; This has been the most successful attempt she's ever had. Slowly, confirming that the guy was still on a trance, she decided to continue a little further.
"Let’s make things about three more times funnier than that." she made a scissor like motion with her hand and the guy erupted in laughter.
"Look at Mana – I mean, Aika. She's trying to make you laugh too but she is not funny in fact its displeasing."
The guy paused trying to recover from laughter, he instantaneously cringed at Manaka who was doing the same scissor like motion as Yone was.
"Forget about that, look back here." He obediently followed Yone and started laughing again. "Alright, Lets shake hands, shall we?" Yone gestured for a handshake then made the guy "sleep" again.
With Manaka supporting his weight, the three exchanged silent agreement that their little demo works and that its time for them to stop. Yone swallowed then started again.
"On three, you will slowly wake up from this trance feeling very happy, and tell me that my jokes are superb. one, two, three."
The guy did as she said, and the three girls thanked him. He walked away feeling happy but a bit confused.
When their area cleared out, the three remained speechless.
Manaka spoke. "I don’t know how’s this gonna help with your research but.. There’s your experiment."
"Yeah." Yone nodded still baffled.
"Also, not on a controlled setup." Neru said.
“Yeah.” Yone whispered. “YEAH.” A widespread smile crossed Yone's face. She jumped at the two hugging them happily.
