The first time Katsuki saw Izuku, he was completely enamored. He was just so beautiful; with his bright green eyes, forest green hair, chubby cheeks, and freckles. He did not think he had ever seen someone with so much beauty before. No, he knew he hadn’t.
No one could compare.
He had just finished with a mission when he stumbled into a nearby café. Normally, eating and drinking sugary shit wasn’t his forte, but he was starving and he needed something to tie him over before he had to go back to the agency to fill out paperwork. And it was at this little café where he met Midoriya Izuku.
Katsuki was at a loss for words at first, his heart beating rapidly behind his chest. Was he dying? Was he already dead? Had he gone to heaven and was greeted by an angel?
It took Katsuki an embarrassingly few moments to realize that he had just been standing at the entrance to the café, staring intently at the beautiful man behind the counter. “D-Dynamight?” The cutie stammered, trying to get Katsuki’s attention.
Bakugou shook his head and made a grunting noise before making his way over to the counter. He ignored the stares and gossiping from around the café, he didn’t care about them, he was mostly interested in the beauty in front of him. If he was lucky, perhaps he would leave with more than just coffee and a snack; perhaps even a phone number.
“W-What can I get f-for you, D-Dynamight?” The cutie stammered again. His face was getting all red, making his freckles stand out even more.
Katsuki wanted to eat him right up.
Bakugou was about to open his mouth, but stopped when – oh, what’s this? Not only was he cute, but he was also a hero fanboy! Katsuki would notice that mock shirt of his costume anywhere. He had been the one to approve it, after all.
Trying to spare the beauty from anymore embarrassment, Katsuki finally made his order, squinting at the barista’s name tag as he did so. “I want a large coffee, black, and one of those pastries…Deku.” Katsuki smirked, leaning into the cutie’s face a bit.
“It’s Izuku, sir, not Deku.” Izuku had corrected without so much as a stutter. It must be something he was used to, considering how he wasn’t as embarrassed as he had been. Hm, not only was Izuku adorable but he was strong too.
Katsuki was a fucking goner.
“Alright, Izuku,” Katsuki purred, enjoying watching the blush on Izuku’s face rise some more. “And you can call me Katsuki, no need to be so formal.” Bakugou watched the barista for a moment longer, almost getting lost in his green eyes.
After he had gotten his order, he unfortunately was not given a chance to talk to Izuku some more. Which was a shame, he could hear him mumbling while making his drink and he thought it was adorable. He could hear him ramble on for hours and never get tired of him.
Katsuki could not believe he had fallen so quickly, with barely a warning. But after all, it wasn’t like the world could have prepared him for something like this.
The next time they met, Katsuki was able to slip him his number this time. At first, he had been afraid that Izuku would throw it out. After all, they hardly knew each other. But to his relief, he had gotten a message that night and he knew that he was screwed.
Over the couple weeks that they messaged back and forth, Katsuki learned that Izuku was quirkless. Which wasn’t a big issue to him. Katsuki stopped caring about that bullshit a long time ago. Quirkless or not, he really liked Izuku and thought he was perfect. He also learned that he loved katsudon, heroes (no brainer), reading comics, watching movies and shows, and he was also going to school to be a comic artist.
Katsuki had never really been into art, but he had a feeling that when it came to Izuku, he was sure to love it.
The only problem was, was that when Katsuki would try to ask him on a date, Izuku would deflect him. And he did not understand why. Was it because he was a pro-hero? Or something else? Any time he tried to ask him about it, Izuku would change the subject.
Perhaps he was misreading their connection and the attraction was one-sided.
But he did not think that could be the case. Especially since Izuku would blush or get all weird when he complimented him. Plus, he had given Katsuki the nickname of Kacchan. He was amazed at himself for letting Izuku get away with that one. But he knew that when it came to Izuku, he would probably let just about anything slide.
Finally, a couple nights later, Izuku finally told him the truth. “I’m not ashamed of being quirkless, I’ve learned how to accept it and I’m okay now, but you’re the number one hero. I just – I feel like the world would have so much to say and –“
“Let them.” Katsuki interrupted, focusing on Izuku with an intense stare.
“But-“ Izuku started, only to stop again once Katsuki grabbed his hands, forcing him to pay attention to the hero in front of him. “Listen, I don’t give a shit what the world has to say. I am a grown ass man and I can date whoever the hell I want to, when I want to. It’s none of their fucking business. And if the press so much as gives you shit, I promise to be there with you every step of the way.
I like you, Izuku. Please, let me show you how much you mean to me.” Katsuki whispered the last part of his speech as he brought Izuku’s hands up to his face so he could kiss them.
Unshed tears were forming at the end of Izuku’s eyes before a bright and sunny smile adorned his face, “Okay, Kacchan.”
After that day, the two started dating and Katsuki was honestly the happiest man in the world.
It was slow and steady for a while. Izuku was not used to the attention at first. Especially once wind got around that Number One Pro-Hero Dynamight was off the market, the press were relentless. However, Katsuki was true to his word and put a stop to a lot of their bullshit. He wasn’t about to let the world ruin his happiness.
After a few months of dating, Katsuki had convinced Izuku to move in with him and it was the best decision of his life. While he was happy being the number one hero, coming home to Izuku waiting for him with a bright smile completely changed his outlook on life. He now understood what his mom had said to him as he got older: “While it might be nice out there saving and changing the world, nothing could ever beat coming home to someone you love, Katsuki. That’s how I feel every time I come home to your father. He is love, safety, and he is also home. I hope you will be able to find your home some day.”
As he wrapped his arms around Izuku, pulling him close and pressing their foreheads together. He couldn’t help but get lost in those beautiful green eyes. The eyes he had grown to love, his safety, his home.
“Welcome home, Kacchan.” Izuku greeted as he wrapped his arms around Katsuki’s neck, pulling him down for a kiss.
“Yeah, I’m home.” Katsuki murmured against his lips before finally kissing his home.
