Work Text:
His mom is the one who makes him realize. Isn't that kind of embarrassing? His mom made him realize he was in love with his best friend?
He remembers his mom asking "you like this person, right?" and his bright red blush as he'd realized that, yeah, he did like Reki. A lot. And he missed him.
And then they start talking again. It hits Langa like a punch to the gut all the time.
And then it slips out, a wish pushing past his lips without permission "Reki, mon copain"
Reki looks at him, puzzled. "Was that English?"
"Um, no," Langa is glad that the room is too dark for Reki to see his blush. "It's French."
"French? I didn't know you knew French."
"Yeah, I'm not really fluent, but we learned it in school cause French is also an official language of Canada."
"Really?"
"Yeah my grandparents used to live in Québec, so they're fluent."
"Wow so what did you say?"
"What?"
"just now, what did you say after my name?"
"Ummm," It isn't technically lying he tells himself, "my friend. It means my friend"
"Oooh cool dude! What other words do you know?"
"Not many really, they just pop up in my head sometimes"
"Huh. Cool!"
That's the end of their conversation; Reki turns back to the skating video they were watching and Langa tries to forget the fact that he just accidentally called Reki his boyfriend in French, fuck.
