Chapter Text
James, Cliff, Lars and Kirk have been friends for many years. It all started in James' neighborhood, when the boy was playing ball in his backyard and heard the sound of an instrument being played by the neighbor. It was there that he met Cliff.
Midway through the year, her class welcomed a Danish student, Lars Ulrich, and it didn't take long for the three of them to bond.
It was in 8th grade when they met Kirk, a thin, curly-haired boy who wore huge round glasses.
It had been a long time since the four of them had been friends and James had always kept something from them.
Lars and Kirk approached quickly, they were an almost inseparable pair and were very close to each other, having intimacy even kissing at times. But nothing went very far.
October 13
They were already in high school, James was waiting for his friends at his house for a history assignment.
"I brought some snacks." Cliff said as he entered the house, he was the first to arrive.
"That's good, thanks man. Where are Kirk and Lars?"
"I have no idea." He shrugged. "Maybe they're having sex and they forgot about us."
Cliff joked, but he could see that James was uncomfortable with the joke.
"Everything is good?".
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?"
"It's not the first time you get weird when we joke about Kirk and Lars having something or something."
"You're seeing things that don't exist."
Cliff looked at him seriously but didn't respond. It didn't take long for the two absentees to arrive.
Now everyone was gathered and each one doing his part in the work.
"I'll go to the bathroom and be right back." Kirk spoke and walked away.
"Now are you going to say I'm seeing things that aren't there?" Cliff spoke as soon as he noticed the clean bar.
"What do you mean?". asked Lars.
"James couldn't stop looking at Kirk."
"This is not true".
"Actually it is." Lars said
"Do you like him James?"
"No.."
"I doubt". The Dane spoke.
"And you like Kirk?"
"No". said calmly. "It's not like that, we just have a great affection for each other".
A silence fell in the place.
"Maybe in eighth grade, when I first saw him, something changed in me. And maybe I feel something for him." James finally surrendered.
"Why didn't you ever tell us? Or him?" Cliff questioned.
I was afraid of losing your friendship. And I thought Lars and Kirk had something."
"We don't have anything." he stated. "Then why don't you go after him?"
James didn't respond.
