Work Text:
It wasn’t until Lando reached his hotel room door that he realised his mistake. He was fumbling around in his bag but he couldn’t find his key card. It meant that he had left it in his room when he had rushed out that morning. There was no way he could go back to reception since he had lost his key card the previous day. This was now day two in a row and he didn’t think he could face the receptionist. He could wait until the morning to make the embarrassing trek to retrieve a new key card. Thankfully, he would be checking out the next morning since it was Sunday so he could afford to wait until then. For now, he had to find somewhere to stay for the night. He sighed.
He could go along to Jon’s room since he was literally two doors down but then a certain someone’s room was right across the corridor from him. Carlos. He could stay overnight with his boyfriend. Besides, only Jon knew about the missing key card. If he spent the night with him, he wouldn’t hear the end of it. Having said that, it was unlikely that Jon would let him share his room. Carlos didn’t know about the missing key card but then again, he would find out soon enough. Lando would probably have to explain himself. He could deal with that because Carlos wouldn’t tease him relentlessly unlike Jon.
Eventually, Lando went over to Carlos’ door because he knew he couldn’t just stand in the corridor all night. He knocked on the door and waited patiently for his boyfriend to answer the door. He knew he shouldn’t be spending the night with Carlos due to the covid restrictions but he felt like he had no other option. Well, he did but it would mean facing an angry receptionist again. That could wait until morning.
Carlos finally answered the door. He frowned then smiled as he gazed at Lando.
“Lando! What are you doing here?”
Lando smiled.
“Carlos, babe, can I spend the night with you?”
The frown returned on Carlos’ face.
“Why? You have your own room.”
Lando held back an eye roll.
“Yes, I know that but I’ve lost my key card.”
“So, go to reception and get another one.”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
Lando sighed.
“I lost one yesterday and I had to get another one. The receptionist said I won’t get another key card.”
It was now Carlos’ turn to sigh.
“You need to get into your room tomorrow though to check in so you need to go to reception at some point.”
“I know but I would rather wait until tomorrow. If they know I have to check out tomorrow, they’ll definitely give me another key.” Said Lando.
Carlos bit his lip.
“We’re technically breaking the rules if you stay, what if someone spots us?”
“I’ll just sneak out in the morning.”
Carlos looked hesitant but Lando pouted.
“You’re not going to let me sleep out here, are you?” Asked Lando.
Carlos huffed and held the door wider.
“Come in then.”
Lando smiled and stepped closer to Carlos so he could kiss his cheek and then moved into the room to dump his bag. Carlos looked out into the corridor to see if anyone was about but it was quiet so he relaxed thinking that they were safe.
The following morning, Carlos actually felt better for letting Lando spend the night with him. They had shared a bed and they would both happily admit that they tend to sleep better when they sleep next to one another. Lando had slept in just his underwear because he obviously had no clothes with him and Carlos’ clothes were a bit big for him. He didn’t mind as he was still able to use Carlos’ things to wash. He would still need to get into his room to grab his things and check out.
Carlos was watching Lando as he was getting dressed into the same clothes as he had been wearing the previous day.
“Sorry I can’t offer you any of my clothes.” Said Carlos.
“It’s fine, I’m sure someone would have something to say if they saw me wearing your clothes.”
Carlos laughed.
When Lando was dressed and ready to go, he found himself standing in front of Carlos and wrapped his arms around him.
“Thank you for letting me stay.” Said Lando, softly.
Carlos smiled.
“Someone has to look after you.”
Lando rolled his eyes.
“Will you come to reception with me?”
“No chance, you’re on your own.”
“Fine, wish me luck.”
Carlos laughed.
“Good luck.”
He leaned in and kissed Lando.
“Come on, you better go if you want to actually get your things.” Said Carlos.
Lando sighed and made his way to the door after he grabbed his bag. He was just about to open the door when Carlos placed a hand on his arm.
“Wait, I need to check that the coast is clear.” Said Carlos.
Lando snorted but let Carlos open the door and peek his head out to make sure that no one was around to see Lando leaving his room. The Brit couldn’t help but huff as his boyfriend continued to look up and down the corridor.
“You’re being so obvious.” Insisted Lando.
Carlos pulled himself back into the room.
“No, I’m not.”
Lando kissed his cheek and managed to shuffle past him and leave the room. He stood in the middle of the corridor smiling at Carlos as he delayed heading off to reception. Carlos gave him a look.
“Go before someone comes.” He insisted.
Lando laughed.
“I’m going, I’m going!”
He kept on laughing as Carlos kept an eye on him to make sure he made a move before he eventually started walking along the corridor. He turned back just in time to see Carlos closing the door in case someone came round the corridor and got suspicious.
One thing for sure was that Lando wasn’t looking forward to going to reception but losing his key card the previous day had resulted in a night with his boyfriend so he wasn’t going to complain too much. He would leave the complaints to the receptionist he was about to encounter.
