Summary:

Part 12 of the Rowvember 2022 series. Viola ponders her relationship with the Boss.

Work Text:

Over the past couple of weeks, Viola had come to appreciate the Boss on a more emotional level. Previously, she was simply thankful for having a place to be, and not get shot. But now, she both admired and adored the leader of the Saints.

The redhead had shown her sympathy and genuine care throughout her relatively brief time with the purple glad gang.
Sure, being saved from blowing up on Magarac Island was great, but what stuck with the former Morningstar were the little things; the moments when Velvet helped her purely out of an uncharacteristic kindness.

The first such experience was when Viola found herself crying at her old penthouse. The Boss had shown up seemingly out of nowhere and had comforted the woman whom she had barely known at that point in time.
Another instance was when they met up with other former members of the Morningstar who wanted to join the Saints alongside her.
Aware that they meant something to the black haired woman, Vivi spared them, and even allowed Viola to redesign their Syndicate uniforms to represent the Third Street Saints instead.
Then there was that special moment not too long ago, when the Boss surprised her with her Morningstar chain that she had lost at the Steelport monument, with a newly added fleur-de-lis alongside the star shaped pendants.

After Kiki’s death, she had felt alone, but then the Boss had accepted her with open arms, offering an unlikely hand that pulled her out of a pit of depression and despair. Since then, Viola has always had the horned woman by her side; the time they had worked together on rebuilding Powder, when they went on dates, or those moments when Viola was sleeping - literally.
And while the Boss did sometimes do stupid things like antagonising any and every person she ran into, or when she once again damaged one of the former Morningstar’s cars; the good outweighed the bad by a ton.

On the surface, Vivi appeared rough, spiteful, rude, unpleasant, petty, cold, and many other negative adjectives; once you got to know her better, you would find that, deep down, she was actually pretty warm and sweet, and in some inexplicable way, innocent.
