Work Text:

Cold autumn air blew through the balcony of the wangshu inn but in all truthfulness, you could care less about the air biting at your exposed skin, if anything you were a tornado of emotions right now. “I thought I said to not come back.” you demanded, “I know,” he spoke back to you with a certain level of romantic melancholy, “Then why are you here? I thought I made myself clear.” he sighed and put his head down but only for a moment. “You did and I know, just let me explain myself, please.” he quietly begged you, you turned to look at the clouds that hardly covered the moon. The moon wasn’t exactly full but it wasn’t empty either, it looked more so like a gibson moon. “You have two minutes, I’m counting.” you whispered, “Thank you,” he told you. “I want to apologize for that night, I wasn’t exactly myself.” he proclaimed to you, “You’re never yourself are you, Xiao?” you interrupted, “Let me finish. Like I just said I wasn’t exactly myself that night, I’m not quite sure what it was but everything was just pissing me off and I want to formally apologize to you.” he rushed out, “You told me and I quote; “I never want to see you again for as long as I live, leave my sight.” Oh and before I could even leave you told me also and I quote; “We never should have crossed paths, to begin with.” Did you not mean those words Xiao?” you asked him with utmost certainty in your voice. “I said those words Y/n I will admit to that, but I’ve regretted those words ever since they left my mouth.” he pleaded with you hoping you could see the sincerity in his gold-colored eyes, “Then why say them in the first place, Xiao?” you seethed. “As I said, I’m not sure but I sincerely apologize Y/n. And I know I don’t have the right to ask this of you but, may we go to your room and try talking this out? Please I’ve come to the realization that I simply can’t function without you, and the thought of you with someone else makes me sick to my core. Please let’s try talking this out and if possible, giving me one last chance?” he begged you but never stepped away from the edge of the balcony. You took a good look at him; he looked the same as before but you could see the eyebags from under his eyes and how his eyes were slightly tainted red and also how under his eyes were puffy also, was he crying before he made himself known back into your life again? Should you give him another chance to hold your heart again? Can you trust him not to break you as he did before? There were so many questions but no answers. “We can head to my room, but if this doesn’t work then… We’ll have to let each other go whether we like it or not.” you agreed and you saw him nod his head in agreement, “of course, I’ll respect your choice and your wishes.” he mumbled. The walk to your room was filled with a melancholic silence until you twisted the doorknob and opened your door to the adeptus behind you, you sat on the bed and watched as he stood awkwardly to the side. “You might as well sit on the bed since you’re going to be here for a while,” you told him while looking out the window that's placed above your bed. You’re not quite sure what time you fell asleep while listening to him beg for forgiveness and ask for a second chance, but you do know that you woke up in the early morning to your head on his bare chest. “You’re awake, how did you sleep?” the adeptus asked you, “I slept fine, you didn’t have to stay with me you know.” you sleepily mumbled. “My apologies, I’ll leave,” he told you while shifting up and preparing to leave, well that was until you took hold of his tattooed arm. “Wait,” you blurted out and he turned his head towards you, “Yes?” he asked, “Can you stay? Please?” you pleaded with him once more as he took his original place in your bed. “So is this safe to believe you forgive me and are willing to give me one last shot?” he asked as he wrapped his arms around you as you snuggled into his chest, “Yeah, I forgive you,” you told him while lazily drawing shapes on his stomach. “Thank you, I promise you will not regret it,” he promised as you fell back into your slumber.
