“Ciao Bella” Maya said from the doorway, The brunette was swaying from side to side, humming to herself with her back to the firefighter, looking out of the kitchen windows. She looked beautiful being framed by the moonlight and candles surrounding her.
“How are you feeling?” Maya asked whilst walking towards her.
“Everything hurts Maya” she spoke with a whimper turning around slowly. “I feel horrible, can you come and help me per favore?” She questioned with a sudden intake of breath and suddenly burst into tears.
The blonde walked over with a worried look on her face. “Car I’m right here, what’s wrong?” she saw Carina trying to hold her 8 month baby bump up in attempt to ease the pain and pressure that was on her spine. “The bambino is getting so heavy” Carina told Maya through choked sobs.
“Aww Car come here” Maya said as she pulled her into a loving embrace, or as much as she could with the baby bump in the way, “I’m right here do you need your strong wife to help you, turn around for me, let me try.” Reluctantly she stepped out of Mayas embrace and turned her back to the strong blonde. Maya wrapped her muscular arms around her wife and placed her hands over Carinas.
“Ready?” Maya questioned.
“Sì” The brunette replied with a weak smile. Maya slowly began to lift her stomach up to help and ease the pain. She felt Carina start to relax as the pressure started to release and she let out a sigh of appreciation. Carina tilted her head back so she was resting it on the blondes shoulder. “Ti voglio bene” The Italian whispered as she pressed a meaningful kiss to Mayas cheek.
Maya looked down at the person she loved most in the world with a smile on her face, she hadnt seen her wife in over 24 hours, they had been so busy at the station with back to back calls. She took a moment to take it all in and relax for what felt like the first time today.
“I love you too Car, Is this helping?” she asked whilst turning her head slightly to kiss the brunettes temple.
“Mmmh sì; this feels great, but bambina” Carina replied.
“Yes bella”
“Can we start swaying like I was before, it helps position the baby ready for birth, which is only a month away” Carina reminded her.
“Of course, whatever you need, if this helps then we shall sway.” They started rocking slowly from left to right. For a few minutes they rocked silently with only the sound of their shared heartbeats and eachothers breaths. “How has the little Bambino been today?” Maya questioned her, breaking the peaceful silence.
“He has been pretty active today, and been kicking me lots” They both giggled “and I can feel him move every time I sing.” Carina told her with a big smile as she felt Maya start kissing down the side of her neck.
”I love you Carina” The blonde whispered as she felt the bambino begin to kick.
“And he does too, by the feeling of it” Carina said with a giggle. “Ti voglio bene Bambina, and you too Bambino.” The Italian said to her belly.
They sighed together and Carina melted more into Mayas embrace. “Ti voglio bene” she said to her wife. “I really mean it Maya, grazie bambina.”
“You’re welcome, sei il benvenuto, amore mio, whenever you need my help, I’ll be here for you.” She replied with a smile, “I love you and I choose you. Forever.” remembering the words she said to the love of her life on their wedding day.
Maya was dreading the point when she would have to let go of Carina’s baby bump but for now, nothing outside of their embrace mattered to them.
