Day 9: Tossing and Turning

Work Text:

Robby was still living in the back room of the Cobra Kai dojo. It seemed at this point to be a fairly permanent situation. He wouldn’t be leaving until his mom got out of rehab. Robby knew this now. He accepted it. And honestly, he didn’t hate it. At least, that’s what he told himself.

One thing that he did hate was the fact that he was locked in the backroom after 10 o’clock every night.

Another thing he hated was the emotional and physical abuse that Kreese put him through.

He also had trouble sleeping most nights. But he had done everything he could to convince himself that those things were not linked. Just because he was being abused every day didn’t mean that was the reason he couldn’t sleep. He wasn’t terrified of nightmares about Kreese hitting him or speaking down to him, calling him weak and worthless, even if Robby felt that those things were true.

That wasn’t it at all, for your information.

He was simply an insomniac.

Yeah, that was it.

He only had to ignore the fact that he used to be able to fall asleep almost anywhere. And the fact that he did indeed have nightmares when he did fall asleep.

He was just an insomniac. That was the only reason that Robby spent every single night tossing and turning in his makeshift bed. Just that and nothing more.
