Work Text:
Ashlyn didn’t hate Aiden, of course she didn’t. As much as he was annoying, and headache inducing, she really did enjoy his company.
She was lonely before him. As much as she tried convincing herself she liked being alone, it wasn’t all that great. She knew it was better to not make friends, she knew it was for her own good. But it was so lonely at times.
When Aiden first came up to her, she thought he was crazy, a lunatic even. He was pushy, and weird. She didn’t like it. He was new. He was the living embodiment of change, and Ashlyn didn’t like change.
God, he was so persistent. He always spoke to her, she hated it for a period of time, but then he really started to grow on her. She acted annoyed, and sometimes she really was. But in reality she did enjoy his presence. She finally wasn’t alone.
She didn’t understand how one boy could change her life, and she didn’t know if it was for the better, or for the worse. But she didn’t care as much as she thought she would.
It was months later, months after she met Aiden, months after she considered him a friend.
the month was September. The leaves turned orange and yellow, the weather was crisp and chilly. The sky was black and dotted with stars, it was Saturday. Specifically, a Saturday night.
Ashlyn was laying in bed, legs up to her chest. She was on her phone, opening and closing the same three apps out of boredom. There was nothing to do, it kinda blowed.
In the midst of her opening and closing the same apps, she got a text. It was from the one and only Aiden Clark. Ashlyn opened the text and was a little confused.
aiden
u busy?
ashlyn

aiden

ashlyn

wtf r u trying to do u goof
aiden

Ashlyn groaned. What was this bitch up to? It’s Aiden, so it couldn’t be good. God it was too late for this shit.
about 5 minutes later, she heard a knock on her window. Ashlyn took a minute, before huffing. No fucking way. She got up from her very comfortable spot on the bed and dragged herself over, moving the curtains only to reveal a familiar blonde.
She grumbled as he grinned that stupid ass grin at her, she reluctantly opened the window. Heavily considering just flipping him off and leaving him outside.
Ashlyn didn’t help him climb in, it’s not like he needed it anyway. Kid was like the blonde version of Peter Parker. She sat on her bed, her legs crisscrossed.
“It’s eleven at night, what was so urgent you just had to break into my house for?” Ashlyn asked, stifling her laugh.
“Why not?” Aiden shrugged, “Just wanted to talk to you really.”
Ashlyn snorted, was it sweet? Yeah. will she admit that? Lol no. She wanted to kick him out, it was late and she was tired. But hell, she’s been so bored.
“Talk to me then, i’m all ears.” That’s all she needed to say before Aiden started talking about anything and everything. She put her two cents in every now and then, but Ashlyn was more a listener than a talker.
They talked for hours upon hours. Aiden was shamelessly rambling and Ashlyn was enjoying every minute of it.
It had gotten so late, Ashlyn was close to knocking out. Aiden seemed fine as ever, a grin plastered on his face and his eyes were glowing.
Her heart fluttered.
She knew she liked him, it was nothing new to her, sure the feelings were new, but she’s known about them for the longest time.
Ashlyn doesn’t know how Aiden feels. She isn’t sure if she wants to know. She just knows she won’t tell Aiden. If he somehow figures it out, good for him. If he asked, she’d be honest. But she’d never act on it.
She didn’t want to ruin their relationship. She cherished their relationship so much, and she hopes he knows that. Even if she tells him to go fuck himself, she needs him to know it’s affectionate, she’d never hate him.
Oh.
She didn’t realize Aiden had stopped talking. She looked at him. He was looking at her.
“Do I have something on my face?” She asked, tiredness eminent in her voice.
“Are you tired?” Aiden replied, “It’s not even that late.”
Ashlyn groaned, “Shut up, yes it is.”
He laughed and she glared.
It went quiet again and Ashlyn let it. She closed her eyes, she was tired. She wanted to sleep.
“Hey, Ash?” Aiden spoke.
The girl hummed, eyes still closed.
“Can I be honest with you?”
Ashlyn opened her eyes. The boy next to her normally just spoke his mind, so she was a little more interested than she normally was.
“Yeah? Why? What’s up?” She asked, yawning.
“I like you.” Aiden confessed.
Ashlyn took a lot more than a second to process that. Her mouth opened once, then twice. She didn’t know what to say.
“Oh.”
That’s all she could say. She knew she liked him back, but could she tell him that? Would that be okay? Were they going to be okay?
Her lips pursed and her heart sped up at the idea of them becoming something. But was it really alright for them to be together? Why was she so worried?
“It’s okay, you don’t have to say anything.” Aiden spoke, breaking what was probably minutes of silence.
But she wants to. She doesn’t want to leave him clueless. She wants to tell him, but is that okay?
It will be okay, she’d always be okay. As long as he was with her, everything would be okay.
“I like you too.” She closed her eyes. Still tired as ever.
She felt him shift in the bed and her heart fluttered. She was nervous.
“Really?” he asked. His voice sounded a lot closer than it was originally. She didn’t know if she should open her eyes, but she did anyway.
There he was. Right in front of her. His red eyes gazed into her own green ones and she felt her breath get caught in her throat.
“Really.”
“I’m glad.” Aiden started, “I’m really really glad.”
“Me too Aiden, me too.” She felt herself grin. Her heart absolutely racing.
She was happy. So so happy.
She felt arms wrap around her, and she heard her heart in her ears. Aiden pulled her into his chest and she absolutely melted.
He was warm, and he felt safe. She loved it.
They stayed like that for awhile. Ashlyn in his arms. She was about to fall asleep. He was so warm, like a human blanket.
But of course, he broke the hug. “Hey, I gotta get going okay?” Aiden spoke
Ashlyn grumbled.
Did he have to go? He was so comfortable.
He laughed, “I’m sorry Ash, but it’s late, and I don’t need your parents knowing I snuck into ur house.”
She sighed and sat up on the bed, “It’s whatever, I’ll see you out”
Aiden was already off the bed when she had sat up, so she followed after. The walk was short, extremely short. Hell it shouldn’t even be considered a walk, it was like two steps. Her bed was close to her window, right next to it actually.
Aiden opened her window and he grinned at her. “Can I do something? Just really quick before I leave?” he asked
She shrugged, “Sure.”
“Okay, no take backs though, it’s not allowed.” His smile widened.
Ashlyn made a face, what was he trying to do?
“Okay?”
Aiden made and held eye contact with her. It made her nervous, made her heart flutter.
He got close, maybe too close. She doesn’t know, her mind got fuzzy as soon as he put a hand on her cheek.
It happened slowly.
Aiden leaned in, and their lips connected.
Ashlyn was shocked, flabbergasted, absolutely astonished. There were butterflies in her tummy and her heart was nearly pounding out of her chest.
His lips were so soft.
It was so different, so new. And god did she absolutely love it. She absolutely adored it.
It was exciting. So new that it was just so exciting.
Clutching onto his shirt she kissed him back.
It was anything but perfect, but fuck they were teenagers. How perfect could they get?
Ashlyn hasn’t even kissed anyone before, lord knows if Aiden has. She didn’t have the brightest clue what she was doing. But she just went for it. If it’s bad it’s bad, embarrassing, but at least she tried right?
Seconds later they pulled away. Ashlyn’s face flushed and she quickly let go of him. Hands shooting to cover her face.
God, how embarrassing.
She heard Aiden laugh, why was his laugh so pretty?
She lightly hit him on the shoulder, “Go fuck yourself, honestly.” She laughed as well.
Aiden grinned at her, “I like you too.”
With a grab to her hand and another small kiss, he left.
Ashlyn was a little upset of course. She wishes he could’ve stayed longer, but there’s really nothing she could do.
She giggled to herself before making her way back to bed, giddily wrapping her arms around herself as she smiled.
She was happy, so so happy. And the one person she could thank for that was Aiden
