Work Text:

Build whined as he tossed down his phone after replying to Us. All he wanted to do was go back to sleep, but the bright light coming from the part in the curtains and the pounding in his head wouldn’t let him. His mouth felt like sandpaper and his stomach gurgled unpleasantly. Thankfully, he didn’t think he was going to vomit, but he also wouldn’t be surprised if the urge to do so shot forth should he roll over onto his stomach, so instead he grasped the blanket and tugged it up over his head, sighing in relief as he welcomed the darkness.

“What was I thinking ?” He muttered to himself, although he knew exactly what he’d been thinking. The night while drunk proved to be quite a blur, though all the videos on his phone and the BOC instagram account helped him remember enough, but before that, he had been feeling so much. The end of the tour, the fans screaming and cheering for him, it always made him cry at the end, but last night had been something special, in a similar way the first night had been special.

Build wasn’t oblivious to his growth in popularity over the last few months, but it still shocked him to his core. It made him wonder if he deserved it. But he didn’t want to focus on that. He wanted to focus on making sure that he did deserve it.

Which is why he had… maybe gone a bit too wild last night. Everything had felt like a relief, a release—that’s, in essence, what it had been, a release of everything pent up, an excuse to have fun without a care for the first time in months.

The wine had gotten to him a bit and the internet was a blackhole. Ah well, at least his beyourluves had had fun with it.

The door creaked open, quiet footsteps making their way into the bedroom and Build tugged the blanket down a little, just so that he could squint through the mostly dark room to see Bible being as quiet as he could as he walked in. Build smiled beneath the blanket, a warmth spreading through his chest at the sight of the bag of food in his hand plus the two coffees in the other.

He pulled the blanket down to just beneath his chin.

“That for me?”

Bible jumped slightly, nearly dropping the coffee which made Build laugh and then groan because laughing hurt his head. Bible quickly set down the coffee and the food and then lowered himself onto the bed next to Build, leaning down to press a soft kiss to his forehead.

It was like magic when the throbbing in Build’s head dimmed even the slightest bit.

“How are you feeling?” Bible asked, stroking his fingers through Build’s hair. He had his glasses on and just a simple t-shirt and jeans—perfectly Bible. Build wouldn’t have expected anything less.

Build breathed in deeply, leaning his head into the gentle stroking of Bible’s fingers. “Like I got run over by a bus.”

Bible’s lips twitched slightly as he pulled his hand away. “You drank a lot. I’m glad I wasn’t drinking too or we’d both be down for the count.” Bible pushed himself off the bed, going back over to the bag and coffee. He pulled a white container from the bag and grabbed some of the utensils that’d come with the food and picked up one of the coffees before turning back towards Build. “Can you sit up?”

Build gave a small nod and pushed himself up, leaning back against the headboard of the bed as Bible carefully handed him the coffee and container of food.

“Got you some eggs. I also have a banana in the bag too. Both are good for hangovers.”

Build smiled widely as he sipped at the coffee and then set it aside. “Thank you, Ble,” he couldn’t begin to describe how cared for he felt in that moment, with Bible sitting next to him, having brought him food to help with the hangover.

In fact, for the last few months, he couldn’t begin to explain how cared for and loved he’d felt. At first, he didn’t think he deserved it, and yes, he had pushed Bible away for a time, but Bible was stubborn and refused to be turned away, seemingly determined to help Build understand that he deserved every bit of love and kindness that Bible could, and wanted to, give him.

He accepted it now, easily, welcomed it, embraced it, thrived within it. Bible’s love was the driving force that kept him going through the rough patches. It was why he could go wild the night before and know he’d be okay the next morning, because Bible would be here to help care for him.

And he was right. He felt blessed that he was right and so much more in love than he ever thought that he could be. The eggs tasted like heaven’s clouds on his tongue because they were given to him out of concern of how he felt, the coffee like liquid gold running down his throat.

Build felt rich with Bible by his side.

Bible watched him eat as if it was the most interesting thing he could do in the world. It warmed Build’s cheeks, similar to the flush he’d been sporting the night before from the alcohol. Even in his alcohol daze, he’d felt Bible watching him from the bar, only mildly focusing on a conversation with Jeff. Bible’s attention had been fixated on him and, call Build selfish, but that’s how he liked it.

“You done?”

Build nodded and Bible took his empty container and tossed it in the trash before climbing fully onto the bed, his hand sliding along the back of Build’s neck to tug him forward. Build’s breath lodged itself in his throat, his stomach feeling queasy, not from alcohol this time, but from the feeling that Bible kissing him always gave him.

It was strange, before when Build was in relationships, those feelings had always fizzled out quickly. It’d gotten to the point that Build thought there was something wrong with him, why couldn’t he maintain feelings for someone? At first, he’d been sure that’s what would happen with Bible—and that was probably a good thing. They were co-stars, partners, a relationship more than friends would always be trouble.

But that didn’t happen and that was terrifying . At first.

Now he understood why he felt those butterflies just as intensely as the first time Bible had kissed him—not as Vegas, but as Bible, his fingers gripping the sides of his face as if Build would try and push him away. It was because Bible was his soulmate.

“Thank you,” Build murmured when they had a pause for breath. Bible’s eyes fluttered open behind his glasses, his thumb stroking along his cheek, index finger nudging at his earlobe. “For taking care of me.”

Bible smiled, sending Build’s heart flying through his chest into the space around him. Love is a strange sort of magic, one that makes Build feel, at times, that he and Bible are the only two people in the world. He thinks he would be fine with that.

“Biu, I’m going to always take care of you.”

And Build knew that to be true.
