Chapter Text
Qin Jiu was laying slightly upright on his side as he watched his lover sleep peacefully. It has been a few years since they have left the system and have been able to freely be together. It was hard to get used to it at first, not having to be on edge all time worrying whether or not the system was watching them, and realising what sort of relationship they had.
However this new life has made Qin Jiu rather shameless, flirting with You Huo whenever he got the chance. Publicly showing his love, regardless of who was around. But could you really blame him? His boyfriend was just too perfect. Qin Jiu was quite contempt with his new life. Work was annoying, but he knew he couldn’t just retire this early on in life. Even if he wanted to.
You Huo woke up to the sight of his boyfriend having a soft smile planted on his face that was full of affection.
“Good morning”, Qin Jiu spoke quietly as he gently played with a few strands of You Huo’s hair. You Huo still had his eyes closed as he mumble a quick good morning back. Qin Jiu lightly chuckled as he kissed the top of his head.
He really didn’t want to get out of bed, especially when his boyfriend was laying next to him. He wished he could force the world to leave him and Qin Jiu alone, and let him sleep next to Qin Jiu for a very long time. Unfortunately You Huo’s luck has never been that good. The only reason he got out of bed that day was because 1) perfect boyfriend was out of bed and 2) perfect boyfriend was cooking him a very delicious brunch. He slowly got up and walked towards the kitchen where Qin Jiu was cooking wonton noodle soup. It smelt divine.
“Seems like big invigilator finally decided to welcome me with his presence” Qin Jiu had a playful smirk on his mouth.
Never mind, perfect boyfriend is being annoying. Time to go back to bed.
Just as You Huo was turning around to go back to sleep, Qin Jiu grabbed his arm.
“My dear won’t you accompany me on this beautiful day?” You Huo glared at him, however not with any malice.
“Only if your cooking is good”, this made Qin Jiu laugh. “Only the best for my big invigilator”.
“So I was thinking, why don’t we have a little competition today?” You Huo raised his eyebrow at Qin Jiu’s question. He was very intrigued to see what this competition entailed. “Go on”, Qin Jiu got up from his chair where he was eating his brunch with You Huo. Once he returned, he had his wallet in hand. He opened it up, reached inside and eventually gave You Huo a hundred dollar bill. “What is this for?”
“A bet, let’s see who loses all their money first at a casino”
You Huo was at first displeased with this idea of his. He wasn’t known for having very good luck and instantly wanted to refuse. However after thinking about it, Qin Jiu had just as bad luck as him. “Okay what does the winner get?”
“Whoever loses the hundred dollars first loses the competition and is forced to do whatever the winner wants”
That sounded like a very good deal to You Huo, he nodded his head. He was determined to win. He just needed his luck to be a little bit better than Qin Jiu’s.
Qin Jiu himself also had a hundred dollar note, there was a few rules they both agreed upon before this competition. First, they had to use the entire hundred dollars, not leaving even a dollar left. Second, they couldn’t use the money for anything else besides gambling, so no using the money for food or drinks. And third, they couldn’t use any money they won as part of the bet (this included any money they won back), only the original hundred dollars.
Qin Jiu secretly wasn’t feeling too confident, he had horrible luck. But he believed that today he would prevail and beat his boyfriend.
Once they entered the casino they quickly separated and went their own ways. Qin Jiu gave You Huo a quick good luck wink, You Huo rolled his eyes at his boyfriends antics. Qin Jiu lightly chuckled and walked over to play a basic game of Texas Hold’em. He walked over and lazily placed himself into an empty chair. There was five people already at this game. Next to him was another man about 26 years of age, he was a bit attractive but nothing too noteworthy. The young man was very quickly interested in the very attractive older guy that just sat next to him. Qin Jiu notice the stare of the other man on him and quickly glared at him. The younger man soon felt very intimidated and stopped staring.
This game thankfully only had a minimum betting of $5, however Qin Jiu was feeling a little lucky tonight. The dealer dealt him his two cards. He was given the eighth of spade and Jack of hearts. He was feeling a little disheartened at first but decided to bet $7. He noticed that the highest bet so far was $10, that person must’ve felt lucky. The man next to him had a displeased face painted and betted the minimum amount of $5. The dealer dealt three cards into the centre of the table. Two of diamonds, eighth of clubs and eighth of diamonds. Wow, three of a kind right off the bat. Qin Jiu held a very cold and expressionless face on the outside but was quite excited on the inside. He realised that You Huo has really been rubbing off on him. He smiled softly at the thought of that. The current plot was at $40, this was quickly risen to $90. Qin Jiu rose the bet to $10 and nearly everyone but one met his bet. One person folded already.
The dealer placed down a ten of clubs. Damn, still only a three of a kind. It was still a good hand but he wanted something better. Everyone thankfully checked this round. The last card was finally place and oh my god. Qin Jiu was ecstatic, Jack of spade. Full house. The bet was raised by $5, three people folded leaving only Qin Jiu and this other woman. The plot was now at $100. At the same time they placed their cards face first on the table and bam just like that, Qin Jiu won $100. The woman had a three of a kind on Jacks. Qin Jiu took the chips happily.
You Huo was playing very safely. He was not going to lose to Qin Jiu. He was also playing a pretty easy game. Odds or evens. He was up against this middle aged man wearing a very obnoxious suit. You Huo has already played 3 rounds of this game and currently has $80 left, he had won a total of $0. His luck was not working for him today unfortunately. Even though the winning money doesn’t go towards their bet, he would still like to win some money.
There was a total of two dice, as the worker was rolling the dice in the dice cup, You Huo and the middle aged man made a bet. The minimum amount was $5 and maximum was $20, the middle aged man betted $10 on odds. You Huo swiftly nodded his head and spoke up indifferently “5 on evens”. The worker nodded their head and a few second later let the dice rolled on the table. The dice read 5 and 3, even. You Huo was surprised, he actually finally won. He collected the chips. The middle aged man didn’t move from his seat and neither did You Huo. The worker once again nodded and picked the dice back up.
The same thing happened again, except this time You Huo got to bet first since he won last time. He thought about it for a total of 0.2 seconds, “5 on evens”. The middle aged men betted 5 on odds. You Huo was surprised that he won once again. In the past 5 minutes he just won $25, he was quite impressed with himself. The middle aged man gave up and left the chair quite annoyed at the results of the games. You Huo scoffed and waited to see who his next opponent was. A young woman, about 20 years of age.
You Huo was quite invested in his game of blackjack that he didn’t notice that people were staring at him- well behind him. You Huo clearly confused turned his head around to see a tall body standing behind him. He moved his face back to the front and smirked a little, god Qin Jiu really has had quite an influence on him these past few years.
“Lost already? It’s only been 2 hours” there was clearly humour coated in You Huo’s voice. “My dear, please stop teasing me. Let’s go home”. You Huo looked back at his very hot boyfriend, he abruptly got up and placed his cards on the table. Qin Jiu smiled at You Huo and reached his hand out, You Huo grabbed it without a second thought.
Once they were finally home, they were sitting on the lounge together watching whatever was on the TV.
“So big invigilator what shall I do for you my love?” You Huo was confused for a second, he was just sitting on the lounge letting his mind drift off when he randomly heard Qin Jiu speak up and ask that.
“The bet, you won. So what shall my dear force me to do?” You Huo turned his face to the side and stared at Qin Jiu for a second. He tried racking his head around what he really wanted from him. After debating it for 5 minutes, he got off the lounge and stood in front of Qin Jiu. He put his hand out and Qin Jiu instantly grabbed it.
You Huo dragged them into their bedroom and he could practically hear Qin Jiu smirk.
“My dear, you didn’t have to win a bet if this is what you wanted to do. You know if you ask me I am happy to do this whenever you want.” You Huo rolled his eyes and said annoyed “shut up” he was very close to throwing something at him. You Huo and Qin Jiu ended up laying on their bed, they were both very comfortable hugging each other.
“Sleep. Hug. Don’t disturb. That is what I want”, Qin Jiu laughed quite loudly this time. You Huo felt the body in front of him move. He moved his face closer into his chest and closed his eyes.
“Darling, you are quite something aren’t you? Goodnight You Huo, I love you”. Qin Jiu kissed the top of his head once again. It was a very rare occurrence when Qin Jiu actually called him by his name and not by same pet name or nickname. “Mm love you too”, soon afterwards You Huo fell asleep.
His love was so cute sometimes, in all honesty he shouldn’t have been surprised that this is what he chose as his prize. But it still shocked him nevertheless. Qin Jiu gently brushed his hands throughout You Huo’s hair as he slowly fell asleep hugging his one and only love.
